Plague,caused by the Yersinia pestis bacterium,has several foci scattered throughout a large area from the Brazilian territory that ranges from the Northeastern State of Cearáto the Southeastern State ofMinas Gerais and another separated area at the State of Rio de *** review gathers data from plague control and surveillance programs on the occurrence and geographic distribution of rodent hosts and flea vectors in the Brazilian plague areas during the period of from 1952 to ***,we discuss how the interaction between *** and some rodent host species may play a role in the disease *** absence of human cases nowadays in Brazil does not mean that it was *** dynamics of plague in Brazil and in other countries where it was introduced during the 3rd pandemic are quite alike,alternating epidemics with decades of ***,it remains an important epidemic disease of global *** existence of a large animal reservoir and competent vectors demonstrate a need for continuous surveillance to prevent new outbreaks of this disease in humans.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, constituting 25% of all cancer diagnoses. Even though it is only affecting 4% - 6% of women under the age of 40, it remains the most common malignancy among younger patients. Advancement in the treatment and earlier detection gives excellent 5 years of survival. However, the standard treatment that comprises surgical-chemo radiation therapy or hormonal treatment often results in an increased incidence of treatment-induced infertility. Therefore, adding fertility preservation to primary cancer treatment may offer the best opportunity for future fertility. However, despite advancements in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), the uptake of fertility services in this group remains low. In this review, we highlighted the effect of all breast cancer treatments on women’s fertility, the effectiveness and safety of ART in breast cancer patients as well as the safety of pregnancy in breast cancer survivors. Our aim is to improve awareness of fertility preservation for breast cancer to ensure all women diagnosed with breast cancer have multidisciplinary approaches with early referral to fertility specialists to discuss regarding potential risks and benefits of fertility preservation to improve the uptake of fertility preservation among this group of patients.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is common and one of the most aggressive of all human cancers. Recent studies have indicated that miRNAs, a class of small noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally, directly contribute to HCC by targeting many critical regulatory genes. Several miRNAs are involved in hepatitis B or hepatitis C virus replication and virus-induced changes, whereas others participate in multiple intracellular signaling pathways that modulate apoptosis, cell cycle checkpoints, and growth-factor-stimulated responses. When disturbed, these pathways appear to result in malignant transformation and ultimately HCC development. Recently, miRNAs circulating in the blood have acted as possible early diagnostic markers for HCC. These miRNA also could serve as indicators with respect to drug efficacy and be prognostic in HCC patients. Such biomarkers would assist stratification of HCC patients and help direct personalized therapy. Here, we summarize recent advances regarding the role of miRNAs in HCC development and progression. Our expectation is that these and ongoing studies will contribute to the understanding of the multiple roles of these small noncoding RNAs in liver tumorigenesis.

The development of new fabrication techniques for capacitors with high storage capabilities, called super capacitors, requires appropriated equipment in order to obtain the device＇s electric behaviours. There is several equipment to perform this analysis operating with alternating or continuum voltage. However, the elevated cost of this equipment makes purchasing it impossible in many laboratories. In this work, we present the development and construction of a low-cost impedance spectrometer that allows for the analysis of the capacitor＇s electric behaviour without taking too much time. The analysis is performed by alternating voltage and current measurements as a function of the frequency in the range of 0.001 Hz to 100 kHz. The capacitance and electric behaviour of some commercial capacitors are shown in this work, thereby proving the efficiency of the developed equipment.

In this paper we present a signal processing method capable of detecting cardiopathies in electrocardiograms that was implemented in FPGA. The adopted procedure is based on fuzzy clustering to reduce the amount of data sampling, and a comparison with samples from a previously established database. By using the correlation method on the samples, it is possible to establish an initial indication of a cardiopathy. The reduced number of samples of the clustering process turns the processing simpler and allows its hardware implementation. According to the tests conducted, the method achieves 91% correct diagnoses.

We analyze the two flavor version of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with a repulsive vector coupling (GV), at finite temperature and quark chemical potential, in the strong scalar coupling (Gs) regime. Considering GV = 0, we review how finite Nc effects are introduced by means of the Optimized Perturbation Theory (OPT) which adds a term to the thermodynamical potential. This 1/ Nc suppressed term is similar to the contribution obtained at the large-Nc limit when GV ≠ 0. Then, scanning over the quark current mass values, we compare these two different model approximations showing that both predict the appearance of two critical points when chiral symmetry is weakly broken. By mapping the first order transition region in the chemical potential-current mass plane, we show that, for low chemical potential values, the first order region shrinks as μ increases but the behavior gets reversed at higher values leading to the back-bending of the critical line. This result, which could help to conciliate some lattice results with model predictions, shows the important role played by finite Nc corrections which are neglected in the majority of the works devoted to the determination of the QCD phase diagram. Recently the OPT, with GV = 0, and the large-Nc approximation, with GV ≠ 0, were compared at zero temperature and finite density for one quark flavor only. The present work extends this comparison to finite temperatures, and two quark flavors, supporting the result that the OPT finite

This paper presents a novel approach to continuously monitor very slow-moving translational landslides in mountainous terrain using conventional and experimental differential global navigation satellite system(d-GNSS)technologies.A key research question addressed is whether displacement trends captured by a radio-frequency“mobile”d-GNSS network compare with the spatial and temporal patterns in activity indicated by satellite interferometric synthetic aperture radar(InSAR)and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)*** testing undertaken at Ripley Landslide,near Ashcroft in south-central British Columbia,Canada,demonstrates the applicability of new geospatial technologies to monitoring ground control points(GCPs)and railway infrastructure on a landslide with small and slow annual displacements(<10 cm/yr).Each technique records increased landslide activity and ground displacement in late winter and early *** this interval,river and groundwater levels are at their lowest levels,while ground saturation rapidly increases in response to the thawing of surficial earth materials,and the infiltration of snowmelt and runoff occurs by way of deep-penetrating tension cracks at the head scarp and across the main slide *** over the last decade provides vital information for government agencies,national railway companies,and other stakeholders to understand geohazard risk,predict landslide movement,improve the safety,security,and resilience of Canada’s transportation infrastructure;and reduce risks to the economy,environment,natural resources,and public safety.
