Polarization variability arising from clumps in the winds of Wolf-Rayet stars

Polarimetric and photometric variability of Wolf-Rayet （WR） stars as caused by clumps in the winds is revisited. in our model, which is improved from Li et al., radial expansion of the thickness is accounted for, but we retain dependence on the β velocity law and stellar occultation effects. We again search for parameters that can yield results consistent with observations in regards to the mean polarization p, the ratio R = σp/σphot of polarimetric to photometric variability and the volume filling factor fV. Clump generation and spatial distribution are randomized by the Monte Carlo method so as to produce clumps which are, in the mean, distributed uniformly in space and have time intervals that obey a Gaussian distribution. The generated clumps move radially outward with a velocity law determined by a β index, and the angular size of clumps is assumed to be fixed. By fitting the observed σp/σphot and the volume filling factor fv, clump velocity taw index β （- 2） and clump ejection rate .N （- 1） are inferred, and are found to be well constrained. in addition, the subpeak features of broad emission lines seem to support the clump ejection rate. Meanwhile, the fraction of total mass loss rate that is contained in clumps is obtained by fitting observed polarization. We conclude that this picture of the clumps＇ properties produces a valuable diagnostic of WR wind structure.

Autonomously self-propelled nanoswimmers represent the nextgeneration nano-devices for bio-and environmental ***,current nanoswimmers generate limited energy output and can only move in short distances and duration,thus are struggling to be applied in practical challenges,such as living cell ***,we describe the construction of biodegradable metal-organic framework based nanobots with chemically driven buoyancy to achieve highly efficient,long-distance,directional vertical motion to“find-and-fetch”target *** surface-functionalized with antibodies against the cell surface marker carcinoembryonic antigen are exploited to impart the nanobots with specific cell targeting capacity to recognize and separate cancer *** demonstrate that the self-propelled motility of the nanobots can sufficiently transport the recognized cells autonomously,and the separated cells can be easily collected with a customized glass column,and finally regain their full metabolic potential after the *** utilization of nanobots with easy synthetic pathway shows considerable promise in cell recognition,separation,and enrichment.

New materials for combating bacteria-caused infection and promoting the formation of microvascular networks during wound healing are of vital *** antibiotics can be used to prevent infection,treatments that can disinfect and accelerate wound healing are ***,we engineer a coating that is both highly compatible with current wound dressing substrates and capable of simultaneously disinfecting and revascularizing wounds using a metal-phenolic nanoplatform containing an alloyed nanostructured architecture(Ag@Cu-MPNNC).The alloyed nanostructure is formed by the spontaneous co-reduction and catalytic disproportionation reaction of multiple metal ions on a foundation metal-phenolic supramolecular *** synergistic presence of metals greatly improves the antibacterial activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogenic bacteria,while demonstrating negligible cytotoxicity to normal *** infected rat models,the Ag@Cu-MPNNC could kill bacteria efficiently,promoting revascularization and accelerate wound closure with no adverse side effects in infected in vivo *** other words,this material acts as a combination therapy by inhibiting bacterial invasion and modulating bio-nano interactions in the wound.

Angiotensin(Ang)-(1–7) is an important biologically-active peptide of the renin-angiotensin system. This study was designed to determine whether inhibition of Ang-(1–7) in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus(PVN) attenuates sympathetic activity and elevates blood pressure by modulating pro-inflammatory cytokines(PiCs)and oxidative stress in the PVN in salt-induced hypertension. Rats were fed either a high-salt(8% NaCl) or a normal salt diet(0.3% NaCl) for 10 weeks, followed by bilateral microinjections of the Ang-(1–7) antagonist A-779 or vehicle into the PVN. We found that the mean arterial pressure(MAP), renal sympathetic nerve activity(RSNA), and plasma norepinephrine(NE) were significantly increased in salt-induced hypertensive rats. The high-salt diet also resulted in higher levels of the PiCs interleukin-6, interleukin-1 beta, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and monocyte chemotactic protein-1, as well as higher gp91 phoxexpression and superoxide production in the PVN. Microinjection of A-779(3 nmol/50 nL) into the bilateral PVN of hypertensive rats not only attenuated MAP, RSNA, and NE, but also decreased the PiCs and oxidative stress in the PVN. These results suggest that the increased MAP and sympathetic activity in salt-induced hypertension can be suppressed by blockade of endogenous Ang-(1–7) in the PVN, through modulation of PiCs and oxidative stress.

[目的]研究应用计算机辅助外科(computer aided surgery,CAS)施行传统性全膝关节置换器械的新技术。[方法]30例膝关节内翻畸形患者,由同一位医师施行传统性全膝关节置换术,术后全部患者行患肢直立位冠状面X线摄影,选其中20例作为研究对象,评估移植假体位置的正确性程度。[结果]20例患者行X线分析研究,以下列不同角度进行测定,结果分析使用SPSS版本19。冠状轴线:股骨部假体位置沿股骨机械轴线,均值为:2.5°内翻～4.4°外翻(SD 0.33);股骨部假体位置为:2.5°内翻～1.7°外翻(SD 0.23);总的股胫机械轴线角度为:3.2°内翻～4.5°外翻(SD 0.40)。假体组成部分超出±3°内翻/外翻者,胫骨0例,股骨1例。股骨与胫骨机械性轴线超过3°内翻/外翻为3例。以上数据表明膝关节外科能全面取得韧带的平衡。矢状轴线:研究假体置换的矢状轴线最佳位置,尚存在争议。故未作分析。[结论]CAS适用于传统性全膝关节置换术,既不增加患者痛苦,还能进一步完善外科手术技术,使假体移植达到正确位置。

Acid etching process for fabrication of Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_(8+x) stack

We adopted a new method, acid etching process, to fabricate the intrinsic josephson junctions based on the Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x single crystals. By soaking the crystals into the dilute hydrochloric acid, we fabricated a junction stack successfully, and meantime made the surrounding area insulated. A certain concentration of hydrochloric acid was used to maintain the roughness of the modified layer. The cur-rent-voltage characteristic was achieved through the four terminal measurement. We could control the junctions' number by changing the concentration and the soaking time. We also found that the thick-ness of the stack was equal to the average height of the insulation layer. Such a simple, convenient and controllable fabrication method with a high yield might widen the applications of the intrinsic joseph-son junctions.
