Einstein’s theory of general relativity is playing an increasingly important role in fields such as interplanetary navigation,astrometry,and *** spacecraft and interplanetary probe prediction and estimation platforms employ a perturbed Newtonian framework,supplemented with the Einstein-Infeld-Hoffmann n-body equations of *** time in Newtonian mechanics is formally universal,the accuracy of modern radiometric tracking systems necessitate linear corrections via increasingly complex and error-prone post-Newtonian techniques—to account for light deflection due to the solar system *** flagship projects such as the ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission now operating at unprecedented levels of accuracy,we believe the standard corrected Newtonian paradigm is approaching its limits in terms of *** this paper,we employ a novel prototype software,General Relativistic Accelerometer-based Propagation Environment,to reconstruct the Cassini cruise-phase trajectory during its first gravitational wave experiment in a fully relativistic *** results presented herein agree with post-processed trajectory information obtained from NASA’s SPICE kernels at the order of centimetres.

The recent years have seen a beautiful breakthrough culminating in a comprehensive understanding of certain scale-invariant properties of n-1 dimensional sets across analysis, geometric measure theory, and PDEs. The present paper surveys the first steps of a program recently launched by the authors and aimed at the new PDE approach to sets with lower dimensional boundaries. We define a suitable class of degenerate elliptic operators, explain our intuition, motivation, and goals, and present the first results regarding absolute continuity of the emerging elliptic measure with respect to the surface measure analogous to the classical theorems of C. Kenig and his collaborators in the case of co-dimension one.

Ultrathin,lightweight,and flexible aligned single-walled carbon nanotube(SWCNT)films are fabricated by a facile,environmentally friendly,and scalable printing *** aligned pattern and outstanding intrinsic properties render“metal-like”thermal conductivity of the SWCNT films,as well as excellent mechanical strength,flexibility,and ***,the aligned cellular microstructure promotes the electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding ability of the SWCNTs,leading to excellent shielding effectiveness(SE)of~39 to 90 dB despite a density of only~0.6 g cm^(−3) at thicknesses of merely 1.5-24μm,*** ultrahigh thickness-specific SE of 25693 dB mm^(−1) and an unprecedented normalized specific SE of 428222 dB cm^(2)g^(−1) are accomplished by the freestanding SWCNT films,significantly surpassing previously reported shielding *** addition to an EMI SE greater than 54 dB in an ultra-broadband frequency range of around 400 GHz,the films demonstrate excellent EMI shielding stability and reliability when subjected to mechanical deformation,chemical(acid/alkali/organic solvent)corrosion,and high-/low-temperature *** novel printed SWCNT films offer significant potential for practical applications in the aerospace,defense,precision components,and smart wearable electronics industries.

Physiological Mechanism of Salicylic Acid for Alleviation of Salt Stress in Rice

Soil salinity is one of the most important problems of crop production in estuarine and coastal zones. Improvement in salt tolerance of major food crops is an important way for the economic utilization of coastal zones. This study proved that the application of salicylic acid(SA) improved the growth and yield under salt stress conditions and investigated its physiological mechanisms for salt tolerance. The investigation on the effect of SA for salt tolerance during germination showed that the decreased rates of germination and growth(in terms of shoot and root lengths) by the salt stress were significantly increased by the SA application(SA + NaCl). The treatment of SA to the high and low saline soils enhanced the growth, yield and nutrient values of rice. The effects of SA on Na^+, K^+ and Cl~– ionic accumulation were traced under salt stress condition by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry and ion chromatography. It was revealed that the increased accumulation of Na^+ and Clˉ ions by the salt stress were reduced by SA application. An increased concentration of endogenous SA level was detected from the SA-treated rice varieties(ASD16 and BR26) by liquid chromatography electrospray Ionization-tandem mass spectrometry. The activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase and peroxidase were increased by salt stress whereas decreased by the SA application. The study proved that the application of SA could alleviate the adverse effects of salt stress by the regulation of physiological mechanism in rice plants. In spite of salt stress, it can be applied to the coastal and estuarine regions to increase the rice production.

INTRODUCTION Liver cancer,primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)or hepatoma has become the third leading cause of death from cancer worldwide.[1,2]In 2008,the GLOBOCAN reported 746,300 new cases of HCC diagnosed worldwide with 695,900 HCC-related deaths and a 1.07 incidence to mortality ratio making it the third most fatal cancer world-wide with the vast majority(84%)of cases concentrated in the developing countries in Asia and Africa.[2,3]HCC is a disparate cancer preferentially afflicting the middle to lower socio-economic segment of the world.[4]The economic cost of HCC is staggering with global expense estimated at$895.2 billion a year only followed by cardiac($753.2 billion)and cerebrovascular disease($298.2 billion).

AIM To evaluate the effect of body mass index(BMI) on short-term functional outcome and complications in primary total knee arthroplasty. METHODS All patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty at a single institution between 2007 and 2013 were identified from a prospective arthroplasty database. 2180 patients were included in the study. Age, gender, BMI, pre- and post-operative functional scores [Western Ontario and Mc Master University Arthritis Index(WOMAC) and Sf-36], complications and revision rate were recorded. Patients were grouped according to the WHO BMI classification. The functional outcome of the normal weight cohort(BMI formed comparing all five WHO BMI groups; Normal weight, overweight, class 1 obese, class 2 obese and class 3 *** With a mean age of 67.89(28-92), 2180 primary total knee replacements were included. 64.36%(1403) were female. The mean BMI was 31.86(18-52). Ninty-three percent of patients were either overweight or obese. Mean follow-up 19.33 mo(6-60 mo). There was no significant difference in pre or post-operative WOMAC score in the normal weight(BMI 0.05). Sub-group analysis revealed significantly worse WOMAC scores in class 2 obese 30.80 compared to overweight 25.80(P ficantly worse Sf-36 scores in class 2 obese 58.16 compared to overweight 63.93(P ficial infections, 9(0.41%) deep infections and 19(0.87%) revisions overall with no complications or revisions in the normal weight cohort(BMI functional outcome was not influenced by BMI comparing normal weight individuals with BMI > 25. Patients should not be denied total knee arthroplasty based solely on weight alone.
