Background： forest managers must deal with inherently stochastic ecological and economic processes. The future growth of trees is uncertain, and so is their value. The randomness of low-impact, high frequency or rare catastrophic shocks in forest growth has significant implications in shaping the mix of tree species and the forest landscape. In addition, the fluctuations of wood prices influence greatly forest revenues. Methods： Markov decision process models （MDPs） offer a rigorous and practical way of developing optimum management strategies, given these multiple sources of risk. Results： Examples illustrate how such management guidelines are obtained with MDPs for combined ecological and economic objectives, including diversity of tree species and size, landscape diversity, old growth preservation, and carbon sequestration. Conclusions： The findings illustrate the power of the MDP approach to deal with risk in forest resource management. They recognize that the future is best viewed in terms of probabilities. Given these probabilities, MDPs tie optimum adaptive actions strictly to the state of the forest and timber prices at decision time. The methods are theoretically rigorous, numerically efficient, and practical for field implementation.

Holographic imaging offers a reliable and fast method to capture the complete three-dimensional （3D） information of the scene from a single perspective. We review our recently proposed single-channel optical system for generating digital fresnel holograms of 3D real-existing objects illuminated by incoherent light. In this motionless holographic technique, light is reflected, or emitted from a 3D object, propagates through a spatial light modulator （SLM）, and is recorded by a digital camera. The SLM is used as a beamsplitter of the single-channel incoherent interferometer, such that each spherical beam originated from each object point is split into two spherical beams with two different curve radii. Incoherent sum of the entire interferences between all the couples of spherical beams creates the fresnel hologram of the observed 3D object. When this hologram is reconstructed in the computer, the 3D properties of the object are revealed.

The mechanosensor theory of TCR function holds theα/βcomponent of the T-cell antigen receptor complex ultimately responsible for adaptive immunity[1,2,3].T-cell motility is envisioned to provide a force necessary to slow TCR dynamics as it sits on the pMHC ligand of an antigen presenting cell[1],which theoretically allows the TCR to discriminate different pMHC structures,principally by the so-called catch bonds(mostly H-bonds)at the interfaces of the 5-component complex(i.e.,TCRα/TCRβ/peptide/MHC-IIα(or,MHC-heavy-chain)/MHC-IIβ(or MHC-light-chain)[1,2,3,4].

The accurate prediction of the pressure distribution of highly viscous fluids in wellbores and pipelines is of great significance for heavy oil production and *** flow behavior of high-viscosity fluids is quite different with respect to that of low-viscosity ***,the performances of existing pressure-drop models seem to be relatively limited when they are applied to high-viscosity *** this study,a gas-liquid two-phase flow experiment has been carried out using a 60 mm ID horizontal pipe with air and white *** experimental results indicate that viscosity exerts a significant influence on the liquid holdup and pressure *** the same gas and liquid volume,both the liquid holdup and pressure drop increase with an increase in the *** two existing models,a modified pressure drop method is developed,which is applicable to horizontal pipes for different viscosities and does not depend on the flow *** new method displays a high accuracy in predicting the new experimental data presented here and other published data in literature.
