Influences of Annealing Temperature and Doping Concentration on Microstructural and Optical Properties of CeO_2:Sm^(3+) Nanocrystals

Nanocrystals of CeO2 with different doping concentrations of Sm3＋ were synthesized by a novel and cost- effective method. The crystal structure, morphology and particle size were systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Effects of the annealing temperature and doping concentrations on the microstructural properties of the crystals were studied. X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that the cubic structure of the CeO2 is not affected by the doping of Sm3＋ up to a doping concentration of 20%. Different structural parameters such as lattice constant, surface area, bulk density and porosity of the crystal were determined and discussed. Microscopic images of the CeO2：Sm3＋ suggest that the thermal decomposition of oxalate precursor is a suitable synthesis pathway to produce uniform-sized microparticles and nanoparticles. The influences of annealing temPerature and doping concentration of Sm3＋ on the optical properties of the nanocrystals were also discussed. The photoluminescence excitation spectra reveal that the charge transfer band is redshifted with increasing annealing temperatures. Emission attains its maximum intensity for Sm3＋ concentration of 1%, and higher concentrations lead to emission quenching.

The success of any waste management system requires accurate and up-to-date data on quantity, composition of waste. Waste generation data from household are needed to address issues relating to municipal solid wastes such as management method, performance improvement, policy, regional and local planning, administrative, cost accounting, design and operation of landfill facilities and environmental quality. This study was conducted to provide empirical data on generation rates, quantity and composition, management practices, challenges and strategies from urban household. Waste collection, weighing, questionnaires survey and field observation were methods used during the study. Waste was collected and weighed from 60 households using multi-stage sampling technique for seven days. Questionnaires were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20 and Excel. A total of 1125.2 kg of waste was recorded. font-family:Verdana;">The average household waste generation was 3 kg per day with per capita generation rate of 0.41 kg/cap/day. The compositional analysis showed that Organic (53%), Plastic (11%), Textile (6%), Metal (2%), Glass (1%), Paper and Cardboard 4% and others (22%). Solid waste management practices are very rudimentary. Burning (53.7%) and Open Dumping (30%) were found to be the most commonly used method of disposal with very limited collection service (33.3%) and segregation. The most challenges faced by households were communal disposal area (66.7%) and waste service providers (21.7%) storage bins (11.6%). Waste to energy (48.3%) and compositing (23.3%) were the most considered option for waste management by the respondents.

BACKGROUND Duodenal biopsies are commonly obtained during esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD) but are very often histopathologically normal. Therefore, a more strategic method for evaluating the duodenal mucosa and avoiding unnecessary biopsies is *** To examine the clinical utility of narrow band imaging(NBI) for evaluating duodenal villous *** We performed a prospective cohort study of adult patients at Mayo Clinic Rochester from 2013-2014 who were referred for EGD with duodenal biopsies. A staff endoscopist scored, in real-time, the NBI-based appearance of duodenal villi into one of three categories(normal, partial villous atrophy, or complete villous atrophy), captured ≥ 2 representative duodenal NBI images, and obtained mucosal biopsies therein. Images were then scored by an advanced endoscopist and gastroenterology fellow, and biopsies(gold standard) by a pathologist, in a masked fashion using the same three-category classification. Performing endoscopist, advanced endoscopist, and fellow NBI scores were compared to histopathology to calculate performance characteristics [sensitivity, specificity,positive and negative, negative predictive value(NPV), and accuracy]. Inter-rater agreement was assessed with Cohen's ***112 patients were included. The most common referring indications were dyspepsia(47%), nausea(23%), and suspected celiac disease(14%). Duodenal histopathology scores were: 84% normal, 11% partial atrophy, and 5% complete atrophy. Performing endoscopist NBI scores were 79% normal, 14% partial atrophy, and 6% complete atrophy compared to 91%, 5%, and 4% and 70%, 24%,and 6% for advanced endoscopist and fellow, respectively. NBI performed favorably for all raters, with a notably high(92%-100%) NPV. NBI score agreement was best between performing endoscopist and fellow(κ = 0.65).CONCLUSION NBI facilitates accurate, non-invasive evaluation of duodenal villi. The present study on some biological aspects of the Mormyridae fishes,was conducted between May and August 2015 in the Upper Sanaga at L´eki´e Department(Monat´el´e Town),Center *** this purpose,125 specimens collected by local fishermen were *** were identified and measured,and their feeding and reproductive parameters were obtained after *** catch composition of 4 species(Campylomormyrus phantasticus,Mormyrops anguilloides,Mormyrus macrophtalamus,Mormyrus tapirus)of Mormyridae identified in the region was very low(17%–30%).The mean±standard deviation of total weight and total length were 103.14±37.83 g and 27.47±4.84 cm,*** minimum and maximum size(of 21.1 cm and 43 cm)were recorded from *** and ***,*** mean±standard deviation of the relative length and mass of the digestive tract were 0.35%±0.20%and 5.27%±23.20%,respectively confirming that Mormyridae fish species have a strict carnivorous diet and consume prey that are difficult to *** size frequency distribution of the Mormyridae fishes showed that the majority of the fish caught are small sizes in classes 23–26 cm and 26–29 cm in ***,*** and *** did not record small specimens,however,it recorded larger sized specimens(41–44 cm)compared to the *** sex ratio ranged from 1M:1.14f(***)to 1M:4f(***),mean 1M:2.04f has been generally in favour of *** gonadosomatic index(GSI)was generally low in all ***,it was higher in females of *** and *** compared to other *** hepatosomatic index(HSI)was weakly correlated with the GSI in these species.
