Positivity in electron-positron scattering:testing the axiomatic quantum field theory principles and probing the existence of UV states

We consider the positivity bounds on dimension-8 four-electron operators and study two related phenomenological aspects at future lepton ***,if positivity is violated,probing such violations will revolutionize our understanding of the fundamental pillars of quantum field theory and the S-matrix *** observe that positivity violation at scales of 1-10 TeV can potentially be probed at future lepton colliders even if one assumes that dimension-6 operators are also ***,the positive nature of the dimension-8 parameter space often allows us to either directly infer the existence of UV-scale particles together with their quantum numbers or exclude them up to certain scales in a model-independent *** particular,dimension-8 positivity plays an important role in the test of the Standard *** no deviations from the Standard Model are observed,it allows for simultaneous exclusion limits on all kinds of potential UV-complete *** the dimension-6 case,these limits apply regardless of the UV model setup and cannot be removed by possible cancellations among various UV *** thus consists of a novel and universal test to confirm the Standard *** demonstrate with realistic examples how all the previously mentioned possibilities,including the test of positivity violation,can be ***,we provide an important motivation for studying dimension-8 operators more comprehensively.

As the population across the globe continues to dramatically increase,the prevalence of cognitive impairment and dementia will inevitably increase as well,placing increasing burden on families and health care *** advancements over the past decade provide potential benefit in not only relieving caregiver burden of caring for a loved one with dementia,but also enables individuals with dementia to age in *** devices have served to improve functioning,tracking and ***,smartphones,tablets and the ubiquitous world wide web have facilitated the dissemination of health information to previously hard to reach populations largely through use of various social media *** this review,we discuss the current and future uses of technology via devices and social media to promote healthy aging in individuals with dementia,and also limitations and challenges to consider in the future.

Chemical constituents, in vitro antimicrobial and cytotoxic potentials of the extracts from Macaranga barteri Mull-Arg

Objectives: To investigate antimicrobial and cytotoxic potentials as well as chemical constituents of extracts from Macaranga barteri(M. barteri).Methods: Antimicrobial activity was carried out using micro-dilution, cell culture and GC–MS methods were employed to determine the cytotoxicity and chemical constituents of the extracts ***: Marked activity was observed in methanol(ME) fraction [MIC_(50):(0.097 7–6.250 0) mg/mL] compared to hexane and ethyl acetate fractions. Aeromonas hydrophila(environmental strain) and Shigella sonnei(ATCC 29930) were the most susceptible pathogens to ME and ciprofloxacin(Cl) at MIC_(50) value of 0.097 7 and < 0.019 5 mg/mL respectively. Cryptococcus neoformans(ATCC 66031) was susceptible to ME at 0.195 3 mg/mL compared to fluconazole at 10.000 0 mg/mL. Decreased viability of the Vero cells was observed at the concentrations of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. The lethal dose(LC_(50))of hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol fractions were recorded at(0.30 ± 0.07),(0.52 ± 0.05) and(0.22 ± 0.04) mg/mL, respectively. Some of the compounds identified from ME were caryophyllene(25.21%), neophytadiene(11.90%), a-humulene(7.67%),phytol(4.40%), ethyl ester hexadecanoic acid(4.04%) and nerolidol(2.83%) which were known to have various antimicrobial ***: Methanol fraction of M. barteri is a potent and safe antimicrobial and antifungal alternative which can be useful in the search for new antimicrobial drugs. The study also confirmed the orthodox usage of M. barteri in combating infectious diseases.

Preparation and Surface Modification of High-Density Chitosan/Functionalized Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes Hollow Fibers

Functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes( fMWNTs) were prepared with chitosan via controlled surface deposition and crosslinking process and scanning electron microscopy( SEM),Fourier translation infrared spectroscopy( FT-IR) and Xray diffraction( XRD) are used to character properties. A novel high-density chitosan( HCS) was dissolved in f-MWNTs dispersed dilute acetic acid with a maximal concentration of 5. 8%. The hollow fibers can be made by extruding the solution into a dilute alkali solution through a wet-spinning process and the tensile properties of the materials were evaluated by universal tester. The surface property of fibers,pretreated by Helium( He) and the following grafted with gelatin was evaluated with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy( XPS).As the hollow fibers were intended for neural tissue engineering,its suitability was evaluated in vitro using rat Schwann cells( RSC96) as model cells. The cells attachment,proliferation and morphology,were studied by various microscopic techniques. Based on the results,the gelatin grafted HCS / f-MWNTs hollow fibers could be used as a potential cell carrier in neural tissue engineering.

Ecthyma gangrenosum of the scrotum： a case report

A 43-year-old man with pancytopenia from chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia developed left scrotal pain, fever, and rigors. Physical exam revealed an ulcerating lesion with central necrosis and eschar surrounded by a halo of erythema on the inferior aspect of the left scrotum. The condition indicated an early necrofizing soft tissue infection. The patient was started on broad-spectrum antibiotics and taken to the operating room for a wound debridement. Blood and tissue cultures grew Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which confirmed the diagnosis of ecthyma gangrenosum of the scrotum. The fever resolved, and the wound healed without further progression after wet to dry dressing changes.

Anticorrosion behavior of conversion coatings obtained from unbuffered cerium salts solutions on AA6061-T6

The anticorrosive properties of cerium based conversion coatings deposited on AA6061-T6 alloy by immersion in tmbuffercd cerium chloride and cerium nitrate solutions in the presence of hydrogen peroxide were investigated and characterized by potentiodynamic po- larization （PDP） and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） in 0.5 mol/L NaCl aqueous solution. The microstructure and chemical composition of the protective films were examined by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS）. It was found that the best corrosion protection was afforded by the samples treated during 600 s in cerium chloride solution at pH values ~5.5-4, showing higher amounts of cerium and polarization resistance values greater than 10 f~ m2. Moreover, an ennoblement of the corro- sion potential and decreasing of the cathodic and anodic currents were obtained compared with the cerium nitrate solutions application. This behavior was attributed to the influence of the deposition parameters such as type of the salt anion, i.e., chelating effect and chaotropic characteristics, pH fluctuations in the conversion solution and deposition time.

Conjugated linoleic acid isomers and their precursor fatty acids regulate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor subtypes and major peroxisome proliferator responsive element-bearing target genes in HepG2 cell model

The purpose of this study was to examine the induction profiles （as judged by quantitative reverse tran- scription polymerase chain reaction （qRT-PCR）） of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor （PPAR） α,β, y subtypes and major PPAR-target genes bearing a functional peroxisome proliferator responsive element （PPRE） in HepG2 cell model upon feeding with cis-9,trans-11-octadecadienoic acid （9-CLA） or trans-10,cis-12-octadecadienoic acid （10-CLA） or their precursor fatty acids （FAs）. HepG2 cells were treated with 100 pmol/L 9-CLA or 10-CLA or their precursor FAs, viz., oleic, linoleic, and trans-11-vaccenic acids against bezafibrate control to evaluate the induc- tion/expression profiles of PPAR （α, β, γ subtypes and major PPAR-target genes bearing a functional PPRE, i.e., fatty acid transporter （FAT）, glucose transporter-2 （GLUT-2）, liver-type FA binding protein （L-FABP）, acyl CoA oxidase-1 （ACOX-1）, and peroxisomal bifunctional enzyme （PBE） with reference to β-actin as house keeping gene. Of the three housekeeping genes （glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase （GAPDH）, β-actin, and ubiquitin）, β-actin was found to be stable. Dimethyl sulfoxide （DMSO）, the common solubilizer of agonists, showed a significantly higher induction of genes analyzed, qRT-PCR profiles of CLAs and their precursor FAs clearly showed upregulation of FAT, GLUT-2, and L-FABP （-0.5-.0-fold）. Compared to 10-CLA, 9-CLA decreased the induction of the FA metabolizing gene ACOX-1 less than did PBE, while 10-CLA decreased the induction of PBE less than did ACOX-I. Both CLAs and precursor FAs upregulated PPRE-beadng genes, but with comparatively less or marginal activation of PPAR subtypes This indicates that the binding of CLAs and their precursor FAs to PPAR subtypes results in PPAR activation, thereby induction of the target transporter genes coupled with downstream lipid metabolising genes such as ACOX-1 and PBE.
