Irbesartan (IBS) is a tetrazole derivative and antihypertensive drug that has two interconvertible structures, 1h- and 2h-tautomers. The difference between them lies in the protonation of the tetrazole ring. In the solid-state, both tautomers can be isolated as crystal forms A (1h-tautomer) and B (2h-tautomer). Studies have reported that IBS is a polymorphic system and its forms A and B are related monotropically. These reports indicate form B as the most stable and less soluble form. Therefore, the goal of this contribution is to demonstrate through a complete solid-state characterization, thermodynamic study and dissolution properties that the IBS forms are desmotropes that are not related monotropically. however, the intention is also to call attention to the importance of conducting strict chemical and in solid-state quality controls on the IBS raw materials. hence, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Raman spectroscopy (RS) at ambient and non-ambient conditions, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), hot stage microscopy (hSM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques were applied. Furthermore, intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR) and structural stability studies at 98% relative humidity (Rh), 25℃ and 40 ℃ were conducted as well. The results show that in fact, form A is approximately four-fold more soluble than form B. In addition, both IBS forms are stable at ambient conditions. Nevertheless, structural and/or chemical instability was observed in form B at 40℃ and 98% Rh. IBS has been confirmed as a desmotropic system rather than a polymorphic one. Consequently, forms A and B are not related monotropically.

This study presents an analysis of sediments in an Andean river impacted by both natural conditions and anthropogenic activities. Fifty samples were collected from selected sites throughout the Moquegua River drainage basin, and Tambo River headwaters at Pasto Grande, in Peru, and analysed with X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Si, Ca, Al, Fe, and O, common constituents of soils, were dominant, along with K, N, and P. The latter originating as primary macronutrients or chemical residuals from fertilizers used in agriculture. higher concentrations of macronutrients and organic components were found in agricultural and urban areas, respectively. Arsenic minerals were also detected, which occur naturally, but possibly at levels augmented by anthropogenic activity. The application of cluster analysis revealed clustering between arsenic, arsenolite, and potassium but no significant geospatial correlation between sample sites in the drainage basin.

Facile, Green Synthesis of Large Single Crystal Copper Micro and Nanoparticles with Ascorbic Acid and Gum Arabic

Large single crystal colloidal copper particles with diameters between 0.5 - 2 μm were created using a green synthesis process. The process used ascorbic acid to reduce Schweizer’s reagent created in situ using copper salts in the presence of various concentrations of gum arabic. The Schweizer’s reagents were created by varying the concentrations of ammonium hydroxide and copper nitrate solutions, copper hydroxide, or copper sulfate. The ph of the solution was controlled by the addition of ascorbic acid. Particle formation was favored at high temperature using copper sulfate at ph values ranging from 7.5 to 9, while the optimal formation occurred at a ph value of 8.5. At high concentrations, copper particle formation was found to occur from the aggregation of smaller particles which continued to nucleate once aggregated, and this resulted in the creation of globular particles and large aggregates of micron-sized particles. The addition of gum arabic resulted in the creation of large single crystal particles that did not aggregate. SEM was used to observe the effect of increasing gum arabic concentrations and EDX was used to confirm the elemental purity of the particles.

Utility of the“RMSSD-Slope”to Assess the Internal Load in Different Sports Situations

The control of training load has become a very interesting field for investigation in sports, but few tools are used to assess internal training load (ITL). The aim of this study is to use a post-exercise analysis methodology in different athletes and situations to establish its utility and reliability as a measure of ITL. In a retrospective review, we analysed 112 measurements of 74 subjects (38 men and 36 women) grouped in: University students (UNI);national team (FUTSAL 1);university team (FUTSAL 2);athletes (ATL);badminton players (BADM). Measures of heart Rate Variability (hRV) were made with a Polar V800 with a thoracic band h10, during 5 minutes in a seated position after exercise. We calculated the Root Mean Square of the successive differences between adjacent RR intervals (RMSSD) and its slope from exercise to recovery. Measurements from UNI, FUTSAL-2, ATL-M and ATL-F were grouped into three categories of intensity (60%, 75% and 100%). RMSSD-Slope values were lower as intensity increased but different for every subject. In the BADM and FUTSAL-1 groups, RMSSD-Slope was progressively lower after consecutive matches for every player. The RMSSD-Slope seems to be a very accurate method to assess ITL.

Sulfonic acid-functionalized heterogeneous catalysts have been evaluated in the catalytic dehydration of C(,monosaccharides into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(hMF) using dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)as *** commercial resin Amberlyst-70 was the most active catalyst,which was ascribed to its higher concentration of sulfonic acid sites as compared with the other catalysts,and it gave 93 mol%yield of hMF from fructose in 1 *** glucose as the starting material,which is a much more difficult reaction,the reaction conditions(time,temperature,and catalyst loading) were optimized for Amberlyst-70 by a response surface methodology,which gave a maximum hMF yield of 33 mol%at 147 °C with 23 wt%catalyst loading based on glucose and 24 h reaction *** promotes the dehydration of glucose into anhydroglucose,which acts as a reservoir of the substrate to facilitate the production of hMF by reducing side *** reuse without a regeneration treatment showed a gradual but not very significant decay in catalytic activity.

Analysis of the postoperative hemostatic profile of colorectal cancer patients subjected to liver metastasis resection surgery

Effect of a Single Shot Sciatic Nerve Block Combined with a Continuous Femoral Block on Pain Scores After Knee Arthroplasty.A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background and Purpose: Postoperative pain after knee arthroplasty (TKA) is reported as severe in up to 60% of patients. Continuous femoral nerve blocks (CFNB) are a choice for major knee repair, but controversies remain about the need of supplemental sciatic nerve blocks (SNB) for better analgesia. Our aim is to assess the effect of the association of a SNB to a CFNB to reduce postoperative pain after TKA. Methods: A prospective randomized, single blinded, controlled study, on 50 patients undergoing TKA. Control group received a CFNB before general anesthesia;in the intervention group a single shot SNB was added after the CFNB was done. After the end of surgery all patients started a continuous local anesthetic infusion through the femoral catheter in the PACU (post-anesthesia care unit). Pain scores were measured in the PACU and at 12 h and 24 h postoperative using a visual analog scale (VAS). Results: VAS pain scores (mm) were lower and statistically significant for the intervention group up to 12 h postoperative: PACU admission mean VAS = 59.4 vs 30.2, P = 0.001;at 12 h mean VASr = 26.1 vs 9.2, P = 0.006;at 24 h mean VASr = 30.1 vs 32.7, P = 0.723. Conclusions: The association of a single shot SNB with a CFNB significantly reduces postoperative pain scores after TKA up to 12 h. At 24 h there are no differences between groups.
