Unlike other major crops,little research has been performed on tomato to reduce the generation time for speed *** evaluated several agronomic treatments to reduce the generation time of tomato in the‘m82'(determinate)and‘moneymaker'(indeterminate)varieties and evaluated the best combination in conjunction with embryo *** container sizes with volumes of 0.2 L(XS),0.45 L(S),0.8 L(m),1.3 L(L),and6 L(XL),were evaluated in the first experiment under the autumn *** found that plants grown in XL containers exhibited better development and required less time from sowing to anthesis(DSA)and from anthesis to fruit ripening(DAR).In the second experiment,using XL containers in the autumn-winter cycle,we evaluated the effects of cold priming at the cotyledonary stage,water stress,P supplementation,and K supplementation on generation *** to the control,we found that cold priming significantly reduced the number of leaves,plant height to first the inflorescence,and DSA(2.7 d),whereas K supplementation reduced the DAR(8.8 d).In contrast,water stress and P supplementation did not significantly affect any of the measured traits like DAR,DSA or fruit *** validate these data,in a third experiment with XL containers in the spring-summer cycle,the combination of cold priming and K supplementation was tested,confirming the significant effect of this combination on the reduction of generation time(2.9 d for DSA and 3.9 d for DAR)compared to the *** rescue during the cell expansion cycle(average of 22.0 d and 23.3 d after anthesis for‘m82'and‘moneymaker',respectively)allowed the shortening of the generation time by 8.7 d in‘m82'and 11.6 d in‘moneymaker'compared to the in planta fruit *** combination of agronomic treatments with embryo rescue can effectively increase the number of generations per year from three to four for speed breeding of tomato.

The multilayered structure of the European airport network（EAN）,composed of connections and flights between European cities,is analyzed through the k-core decomposition of the connections *** decomposition allows to identify the core,bridge and periphery layers of the *** core layer includes the best-connected cities,which include important business air traffic *** periphery layer includes cities with lesser connections,which serve low populated areas where air travel is an economic *** remaining cities form the bridge of the EAN,including important leisure travel origins and *** multilayered structure of the EAN affects network robustness,as the EAN is more robust to isolation of nodes of the core,than to the isolation of a combination of core and bridge nodes.

The quality and flavor of scallops changes during the fresh dry rehydration *** order to control the changes after rehydration,a scallop pretreatment method was *** pretreatment method involved impregnating fresh scallops with 0.2 g/100 m L konjac glucomannan(KGm),carrageenan(CA),and sodium alginate(SA)before the drying and rehydration *** rehydration,the KGm treated samples had better water retention and the highest betaine *** CA treated samples had a deepened yellow color and the highest content of flavoring amino acids(FAA)and inosine monophosphate(ImP).What’s more,a total of 77 volatile compounds were detected,with a maximum of 15 *** highest proportion in the four groups was eugenol,followed by n-hexadecanoic acid,methyl hexadecanoate *** SA group had no significant contribution in terms of quality and *** samples pretreated with KGm had the best quality,and those pretreated by CA had the best flavor.

Arsenic-contaminated water is a serious hazard for human health. Plankton plays a critical role in the fate and toxicity of arsenic in water by accumulation and *** platensis（S. platensis）, a typical plankton, is often used as a supplement or feed for pharmacy and aquiculture, and may introduce arsenic into the food chain, resulting in a risk to human health. However, there are few studies about how S. platensis biotransforms arsenic. In this study, we investigated arsenic biotransformation by S. platensis. When exposed to arsenite（As（Ⅲ））, S. platensis accumulated arsenic up to 4.1 mg/kg dry *** exposure to As（Ⅲ）, arsenate（As（Ⅴ）） was the predominant species making up 64% to86% of the total arsenic. monomethylarsenate（mmA（Ⅴ）） and dimethylarsenate（DmA（Ⅴ））were also detected. An arsenite S-adenosylmethionine methyltransferase from S. platensis（Sp Ars m） was identified and characterized. Sp Ars m showed low identity with other reported Ars m enzymes. The Escherichia coli AW3110 bearing Spars m gene resulted in As（Ⅲ） methylation and conferring resistance to As（Ⅲ）. The in vitro assay showed that Sp Ars m exhibited As（Ⅲ） methylation activity. DmA（Ⅴ） and a small amount of mmA（Ⅴ） were detected in the reaction system within 0.5 hr. A truncated Sp Ars m derivative lacking the last 34 residues still had the ability to methylate As（Ⅲ）. The three single mutants of Sp Ars m（C59S, C186 S, and C238S） abolished the capability of As（Ⅲ） methylation, suggesting the three cysteine residues are involved in catalysis. We propose that Sp Ars m is responsible for As methylation and detoxification of As（Ⅲ） and may contribute to As biogeochemistry.

The main aim of this paper is to study whether the Gromov hyperbolicity is preserved under some transformations on Riemann surfaces （with their Poincare metrics）. We prove that quasiconformal maps between Riemann surfaces preserve hyperbolicity; however, we also show that arbitrary twists along simple closed geodesics do not preserve it, in general.

Precision-cut tissue slices are an important in vitro system to study organ function because they preserve most of the native cellular microenvironments of organs,including complex intercellular ***,during sample manipulation or slicing,some of the natural surface topology and structure of these tissues is lost or ***,we introduce a microfluidic platform to perform multiple assays on the surface of a tissue section,unhindered by surface *** device consists of a valve on one side and eight open microchannels located on the opposite side,with the tissue section sandwiched between these two *** the valve is actuated,eight independent microfluidic channels are formed over a tissue *** strategy prevents cross-contamination when performing assays and enables *** irregular tissues such as an aorta,we conducted multiple in vitro and ex vivo assays on tissue sections,including short-term culturing,a drug toxicity assay,a fluorescence immunohistochemistry staining assay,and an immune cell assay,in which we observed the interaction of neutrophils with lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated *** microfluidic platform can be employed in other disciplines,such as tissue physiology and pathophysiology,morphogenesis,drug toxicity and efficiency,metabolism studies,and diagnostics,enabling the conduction of several assays with a single biopsy sample.
