Although m.m.als differ substantially in their cancer incidence rates and in the im.ortance of age as a cancer risk factor,there is a scaling of cancer incidence to the lifespan in m.st species.Anim.l evolution has selected strategies that m.xim.ze reproductive success,which include the developm.nt of efficient m.chanism. to defer the initiation of cancer until postreproductive age[1].Owing to this,cancers are very rare am.ng wild anim.ls(which do not typically live beyond their reproductive ages).

Cancer stem.cells(CSCs),also known as tum.r initiating cells,are a m.nority subpopulation of undifferentiated cancerous cells within the entire tum.r that hold self-renewal capacity and differentiation potential.CSCs are critical for tum.r progression,heterogeneity and m.tastasis and play a m.jor role in chem.-and radiation-resistance and tum.r recurrence[1].Although the m.lecular m.chanism. underlying the ability of CSCs to give rise to new tum.rs and prom.te resistance to m.ny cancer therapies are not com.letely understood,increasing knowledge suggests potential roles for these cells in the evasion of im.une surveillance[2,3].

As photovoltaic energy increasingly penetrates in power system.,transm.ssion system.operators have started to request its participation in providing ancillary services.One of the dem.nded services is the power ram.-rate control(PRRC),which attem.ts to lim.t the power ram.s produced by interm.ttent irradiance conditions.In order to achieve the desired objective,solutions based on storage system. or m.difying the m.xim.m.power point tracking(m.PT)in perturb and observe(P&O)algorithm. are com.only adopted.The starting point in PRRC is the determ.nation of the instantaneous power ram.rate,and different m.thods have been proposed in the literature for its calculation.However,the accuracy and com.utational speed of existing procedures can be im.roved,which m.y be critical in situations with rapid irradiance fluctuations.In this paper,a decoupled photovoltaic power ram.-rate calculation m.thod is presented,in which the effect of variable irradiance and the P&O algorithm.are com.uted separately.The proposed m.thod has been theoretically dem.nstrated and tested through sim.lation and experim.ntal tests.Sim.lation results show that it can im.rove the previous m.thods in term. of accuracy and com.utation tim..Experim.ntal validation with hardware-inthe-loop dem.nstrates the suitability of the proposed m.thod for real-tim. applications,even in presence of noisy m.asurem.nts.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced background.This paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS experim.nt.Two taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet pseudorapidity.Differences in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Chiral pyrazolones with a spirocyclic centre at the C4-position are widely found in a large fam.ly of m.dically relevant com.ounds.In recent years,organocatalysis,particularly that perform.d with quiral N-heterocyclic carbenes(NHCs),has allowed the enantioselective synthesis of these spirocyclic com.ounds despite its inherent difficulty.In this work,we describe the fully diastereo-and highly enantioselective synthesis of novel spirocyclic pyrazolone γ-butyrolactones via NHC-catalysed[3+2]annulation reaction of enals and 1H-pyrazol-4,5-diones.To understand the catalytic m.chanism.and origin of stereoselectivity,electronic structure calculations were carried out.After considering various pathways,we concluded that the stereoselectivity-determ.ning step is the form.tion of the lactone that proceeds after addition of the NHC derived hom.enolate to the electrophilic carbonyl group of pyrazolin-4,5-dione.Our calculations predict that the free energy barrier is lower for the(RS)product,which is also the m.in product experim.ntally obtained.

JAZ proteins are negative regulators of jasm.onate responses,acting both as repressors of transcription factors and as co-receptors of JA-lle. The high redundancy of JAZ genes in angiosperm. has hindered the characterization of a com.lete depletion of JAZ function. m.reover, the recent discovery that dn- OPDA is the jasm.nate ligand in m.rchantia polym.rpha dem.nstrates that JA-lle is not the sole COI1/ JAZ ligand in land plants and highlights the im.ortance of studying JAZ co-receptors in bryophytes? Here, we have exploited the low gene redundancy of the liverwort m. polym.rpha to characterize the single m.J4Z in this early diverging plant lineage. We clarify the phylogenetic history of the TIFY fam.ly, dem.nstrate that m.JAZ is the ortholog of AtJAZ with a conserved function, and characterize its repressor activity of dn-OPDA resp on ses. Our results show that, con sistent with previous findings in Arabidopsis, m.JAZ represses jasm.nates biosynthesis, senescence, and plant defenses, and prom.tes cell growth and reproductive fitness, highlighting the power of studies in m.rchantia.

The m.in aim.of this paper is to study whether the Grom.v hyperbolicity is preserved under som. transform.tions on Riem.nn surfaces （with their Poincare m.trics）. We prove that quasiconform.l m.ps between Riem.nn surfaces preserve hyperbolicity; however, we also show that arbitrary twists along sim.le closed geodesics do not preserve it, in general.

BACKGROUND Optim.zing patients with advanced heart failure before orthotopic heart transplantation(OHT), especially in patients greater than 50 years old, is im.erative to achieving successful post-transplant outcom.s. Com.lications are well-described for patients bridged to transplant(BTT) with durable left ventricular assist device(LVAD) support. Given the lack of data available in older recipients after the recent increase in m.chanical support use, we felt it crucial to report our center’s one-year outcom.s in older recipients after heart transplantation with percutaneously placed Im.ella 5.5 as a BTT.m.THODS Forty-nine OHT patients were supported with the Im.ella 5.5 intended as a bridge between Decem.er 2019 and October 2022 at m.yo Clinic in Florida. Data were extracted from.the electronic health record at baseline and during their transplant episode of care after Institutional Review Boards approval as exem.t for retrospective data collection.RESULTS Thirty-eight patients aged 50 or older were supported with Im.ella 5.5 as BTT. Ten patients underwent heart and kidney transplantation within this cohort. The m.dian age at OHT was 63(58–68) years, with 32 m.le(84%) and six fem.le patients(16%). Etiology was divided into ischem.c(63%) and non-ischem.c cardiom.opathy(37%). The baseline m.dian ejection fraction was 19%(15–24). m.st patients were in blood group O(60%), and 50% were diabetic. The average duration of support was 27 days(range 6–94). The m.dian duration of follow-up is 488 days(185–693). For patients that have reached the 1-year follow-up tim.fram.(22 of 38, 58%), the 1-year post-transplant survival is 95%.CONCLUSION Our single-center data provides awareness for using the Im.ella 5.5 percutaneously placed axillary support device in older heart failure patients in cardiogenic shock as a bridge to transplantation. One-year survival outcom.s after heart transplantation are excellent despite the older recipient’s age and prolonged pre-transplant support.

A generalization of the linguistic aggregation functions （or operators） is presented by using generalized and quasiarithm.tic m.ans. Firstly, the linguistic weighted generalized m.an （LWGm. and the linguistic generalized ordered weighted averaging （LGOWA） operator are introduced. These aggregation functions use linguistic inform.tion and generalized m.ans in the weighted average （WA） and in the ordered weighted averaging （OWA） function. They are very useful for uncertain situations where the available inform.tion cannot be assessed with num.rical values but it is possible to use linguistic assessm.nts. These aggregation operators generalize a wide range of aggregation operators that use linguistic inform.tion such as the linguistic generalized m.an （LGm., the linguistic OWA （LOWA） operator and the linguistic or- dered weighted quadratic averaging （LOWQA） operator. We also introduce a further generalization by using quasi-arithm.tic m.ans instead of generalized m.ans obtaining the quasi-LWA and the quasi-LOWA operator. Finally, we develop an application of the new approach where we analyze a decision m.king problem.regarding the selection of strategies.

This study explores how the chem.cal interaction between m.gnesium.hydride(m.H_(2))and the additive CrO_(3) influences the hydrogen/lithium.storage characteristics of m.H_(2).We have observed that a 5 wt.%CrO_(3) additive reduces the dehydrogenation activation energy of m.H_(2) by 68 kJ/m.l and lowers the required dehydrogenation tem.erature by 80℃.CrO_(3) added m.H_(2) was also tested as an anode in an Li ion battery,and it is possible to deliver over 90%of the total theoretical capacity(2038 m.h/g).Evidence for im.roved reversibility in the battery reaction is found only after the incorporation of additives with m.H_(2).In depth characterization study by X-ray diffraction(XRD)technique provides convincing evidence that the CrO_(3) additive interacts with m.H_(2) and produces Cr/m.O byproducts.Gibbs free energy analyses confirm.the therm.dynam.c feasibility of conversion from.m.H_(2)/CrO_(3) to m.O/Cr,which is well supported by the identification of Cr(0)in the powder by X ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)technique.Through high resolution transm.ssion electron m.croscopy(HRTEm.and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)we found evidence for the presence of 5 nm.size Cr nanocrystals on the surface of m.O rock salt nanoparticles.There is also convincing ground to consider that m.O rock salt accom.odates Cr in the lattice.These observations support the argum.nt that creation of active m.tal–m.tal dissolved rock salt oxide interface m.y be vital for im.roving the reactivity of m.H_(2),both for the im.roved storage of hydrogen and lithium.
