Assessing radiation dose for postoperative radiotherapy in prostate cancer: Real world data

Rapid on-site evaluation of endoscopic-ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration diagnosis of pancreatic masses

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has become an essential tool for the study of pancreatic diseases. Specifically, EUS plays a pivotal role evaluating patients with a known or suspected pancreatic mass. In this setting, differential diagnosis remains a clinical challenge. EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration (FnA) and fine-needle biopsy (FnB) have been proven to be safe and useful tools in this setting. EUS-guided FnA and FnB, by obtaining cytological and/or histological samples, are able to diagnose pancreatic lesions with high sensitivity and specificity. In this context, several methodological features, trying to increase the diagnostic yield of EUS-guided FnA and FnB, have been evaluated. In this review, we focus on the role of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE). From data reported in the literature, ROSE may increase diagnostic yield of EUS-FnA specimens by 10%-30%, and thus, diagnostic accuracy. However, we should point out that many recent studies have reported adequacy rates of > 90% without ROSE, indicating that, perhaps, at high-volume centers, ROSE may not be indispensable to achieve excellent results. The use of ROSE can be considered important during the learning curve of EUS-FnA, and also in hospital with diagnostic accuracy rates < 90%.

Broccoli is a highly consumed vegetable due to its content of bioactive nutrients and non-nutrients,including glucosinolates and ***,the consumption of craft beer has been boosted by the seek for enhanced sensory and functional *** this frame,broccoli have been proven as an ingredient to develop healthy *** objective of the work was to evaluate alternative broccoli materials(sprouts and byproducts powder)to go further from previous results,in a way contributing to the sustainability and circularity of the agro-food chain using underexploited material to supplement beers,which could be a sustainable dietary source of bioactive sulforaphane(SFn).The results showed high concentrations of SFn in beers supplemented with broccoli sprouts and powder(5.00 and 2.54 mg/L,respectively,previous to bottling).These concentrations remained stable until bottling,where they were reduced by>50%.After 150 storage days,the concentrations of SFn were 1.08 and 0.30 mg/L in beers supplemented with sprouts and powder,*** sensory analysis revealed the positive attributes(colour,floral,fruity,and aftertaste as a result of the profile of volatile compounds)of beers developed using sprouts,and significant values of cooked vegetables,alcoholic,and earthy leather,which could be considered negative in *** latter negative tips are the ones offering sensory traits associated to ITC to broccoli-based ***,the addition of broccoli in the format of fresh sprouts is more appropriate according to the SFn content and sensory features,providing a functional alternative that could be appreciated by consumers.

ng>METHOD:ng> We carry out an observational study where reviewed the PET/CT studies with PSMA marked with Fluor-18 (18F) carried out from February 2019 to September 2020. We analyzed the average value of hepatic uptake SUV lean average (SUVlave), acquisition time, age, reason from the study, focal, multifocal and diffuse prostate uptake, analysis of the location of metastases, level of prostate specific antigen (PSA), we describe uptakes of non-prostate origin and focal uptakes in ribs without anatomical representation. ng>RESULTS:ng> The average hepatic SUVlave was 9.7, the acquisition times were variable (52 - 183 minutes) without alterations in the white-background relationship, the most frequent indication for the study was staging, the uptake in ribs without anatomical representation were considered benign with certain characteristics, PET/CT has the ability to detect neoplastic activity with low PSA levels in lymph nodes nd bone metastatic status. ng>COnCLUSIOn:ng> PET/CT with 18F-PSMA has advantages over bone scan and computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis for the staging of prostate cancer.

Effects of a long-term physical exercise program with and without diet on obese boys after six-month detraining

Background:Most studies on physical fitness and detraining have been conducted on normal-weight *** results indicate that any gains regress to the untrained control values during the detraining ***,therefore,seems necessary to determine how detraining affects the different fitness parameters in obese *** aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of detraining(6 months)on kinanthropometry and the components of physical fitness after an intervention(31 months)consisting of a program of exercise and/or diet for obese ***:The participants were 18 boys,aged between 8 and 11 years,divided into E and E+D groups according to the program they *** E group followed a physical exercise program(three 90-minute sessions/week),and the E+D group the same physical exercise program plus a low calorie *** fitness was assessed by the European physical fitness test battery including flamingo balance,plate tapping,sit-andreach,standing broad jump,hand-grip strength,sit-ups,bent-arm hang,10×5-metre shuttle run,and 20-metre endurance shuttle *** Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to reveal overall intergroup differences(E and E+D groups),and measurements showing significant differences were further analysed for differences between individual groups by the Mann-Whitney U ***:In both groups,changes were observed in various physical fitness parameters,especially limb speed(E group,P=0.001;E+D group,P=0.002),agility(E group,Pnd aerobic fitness(E group,P=0.009;E+D group,P=0.002).Conclusion:Detraining after a long-term intervention based on the combination of exercise program and exercise program plus diet in obese boys does not affect the changes attained during the intervention.

Increased Susceptibility to Pneumococcal Disease in Sjogren Syndrome Patients

Susceptibility to pneumococcal infections in Sj?gren syndrome (SS)―an autoimmune inflammatory disease―patients is not well known, although these patients frequently develop respiratory diseases. The relative risk of developing pneumococcal disease in SS patients versus diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM-2) patients, matched by age, gender, and length of enrolment was studied. From January 1998 to September 2013 the records of Donostia University Hospital were analyzed, which among other patient’s data includes: number and type of hospital admissions and number and type of laboratory determinations. Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates of the same serotype causing recurrent infections were characterized by PFGE. The study comprised 127 patients in the SS group (69 primary and 58 secondary) and 127 in the DM-2 group as control. In 12 SS patients, (9.4%) 22 pneumococcal disease episodes were detected. Two patients (1.6%) with a single episode each one were observed among DM-2 patients, p = 0.01, RR for SS patients 6 (95% CI 1.4 to 26.3). no differences could be demonstrated between the two groups of patients in infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus agalactiae. Most pneumococcal serotypes in SS patients belonged to the 13-valent (50%) and 23-valent (75%) anti-pneumococcal vaccine. SS patients are associated with and increased risk of suffering from pneumococcal disease. Vaccination should be considered in this group of patients.

Dear Editor,Triple-negative breast cancer(TnBC)accounts for 20%of all breast carcinomas and lacks a validated targeted therapy;thus,currently,cytotoxic chemotherapy is the treatment of choice[1].Compared with other breast cancer types,patientswith TnBCare younger,have larger tumors,a higher risk of metastasis,and a higher rate of recurrence[2].Among all the subtypes described by Lehmann et al.[3],mesenchymal-like and mesenchymal stem-like(MSL)subtypes had the lowest 5-year distant metastasis-free survival rates.
