The ubiquitous occurrence of plastic nano-and micro-particle contamination has raised concerns about its potential risks and impacts on the global environment,especially in aquatic *** of aquatic species,from different trophic levels,have been affected by this“new”contaminant,which has been reported mainly in their digestive ***,current knowledge about plastic nano-and micro-particle spread and the potential impact on aquatic biota is growing ***,there is a significant lack of understanding of the trophic spread of microplastic contamination and integration of knowledge derived from laboratory assays with that from field research is *** experiments are unable to deal with differentiating between directly and indirectly ingested plastic *** the other hand,laboratory assays evaluating the influence of plastic microparticles and of their adhered or constitutive toxins on representative species cannot satisfactorily simulate the real *** a result,little is known about the effective transfer of plastic particles through the trophic net and the resulting human health *** present review seeks to gather information that can give a more accurate idea of the current situation and future challenges to be faced in mitigating the environmental and human effects of plastic particle pollution in aquatic,particularly estuarine,ecosystems.

Determining the altitude of mountains is one of the most fundamental challenges for ***,the main objective of the study is to determine the altitudes of the three main summits in Ecuador through GNSS positioning,referring to the official vertical datum of Ecuador and the geo-potential surface(W_(o)).The three peaks are active volcanoes named chimborazo,cotopaxi and cayambe,all of which are known to be over 5700 m above sea *** GNSS was performed on the summit of the volcanoes,and the GPS leveling method was applied on nearby *** these summits,the correction of the potential difference between the mean sea level and W_(o) was *** altitudes referred to the mean sea level were compared with other registered heights,and the results are more accurate than previous geodetic missions.

This article reports that extremely thin nanobelts(thickness~10 nm)exhibit pseudocapacitive(Pc)charge storage in the asymmetric supercapacitor(ASc)configuration,while show battery-type charge storage in their single *** types of nanobelts,***-co_(3)O_(4) hybrid and spinal-type Nico_(2)O_(4),developed by electrospinning technique are used in this *** charge storage behaviour of the nanobelts is benchmarked against their binary metal oxide nanowires,i.e.,NiO and co_(3)O_(4),as well as a hybrid of similar chemistry,cuO-co_(3)O_(4).The nanobelts have thickness of~10 nm and width~200 nm,whereas the nanowires have diameter of~100 *** differences in charge storage behaviours are observed in NiO-co_(3)O_(4) hybrid nanobelts based AScs compared to those fabricated using the other materials-the former showed capacitive behav-iour whereas the others revealed battery-type discharge *** of pseudocapacitance in nanobelts based AScs is shown to arise from their nanobelts morphology with thickness less than typical electron diffusion lengths(~20 nm).Among all the five type of devices fabricated,the NiO-co_(3)O_(4) hybrid AScs exhibited the highest specific energy,specific power and cycling stability.

Disturbance and forest recovery in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve,Mexico

Analysis of the change in forest cover is important to determine stand dynamics and the processes involved in disturbance and *** of the core zone of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve were studied using photo interpretation techniques,considering biennial changes between 1999 and 2013 and changes over the whole period of study 1999–*** matrices were elaborated to determine the processes of change involved in both recovery and *** biennial changes for the whole period amounted to 2274 ha;343 ha accounted as degraded in more than one biennial *** total changes in forest cover between 1999 and 2013 involved 4902 ha,out of which,2912 ha were affected by disturbance,and 1990 ha were *** density and 2013 vegetation cover maps,the overall accuracy was 95.6%and 90.2%,*** combining both maps,gradual processes were revealed that were not evident in separate *** methodology is useful for the management and conservation of natural protected areas.

Bone metastasis of non-seminomatous germ cell tumors(NSGcT)of the testes is a rare event and even more uncommon at initial ***,bone lesions are discovered in the presence of concurrent retroperitoneal lymph node or visceral ***,in this case,a 37 years old male complaining of a growing testicular mass was found to have isolated bone metastasis with associated caudaequina syndrome without apparent abnormal findings on initial computed tomography(cT)*** neurologic symptoms prompted further evaluation with magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),which demonstrated multiple sites of bone metastasis without evidence of retroperitoneal lymph node or visceral organ *** case represents a rare clinical presentation and disease manifestation of NSGcT.

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer（AMS-02）,which is installed on the International Space Station（ISS）,has been collecting data successfully since May *** main goals of AMS-02 are the search for cosmic anti-matter,dark matter and the precise measurement of the relative abundance of elements and isotopes in galactic cosmic *** order to identify particle properties,AMS-02 includes several specialized *** these,the AMS-02 Ring Imaging cherenkov detector（RIcH） is designed to provide a very precise measurement of the velocity and electric charge of *** describe a method to reject the dominant electron background in antiproton identification with the use of the AMS-02 RIcH detector as a veto for rigidities below 3 GV.A ray tracing integration method is used to maximize the statistics of  with the lowest possible e background,providing 4 times rejection power gain for e background with respect to only 3% of  signal efficiency *** using the collected cosmic-ray data,e contamination can be well suppressed within 3% with β ≈ 1,while keeping 76% efficiency for  below the threshold.

Prediabetes and type 2 diabetes implication in central proliferation and neurogenesis

Type 2 diabetes （T2D） is an important risk factor for developing dementias, including Alzheimer＇s disease （AD）. Hyperinsulin- emia and glucose intolerance, as features of T2D, might increase the neurodegeneration process, synaptic loss and brain atrophy, leading to cognitive impairment observed in AD. Also, adult neurogenesis seems to be impaired in AD models. Therefore, we have studied morphological alterations, cell proliferation and neurogenesis in the central nervous system （cNS） from a classical model of T2D, the db/db mouse, and in a prediabetes insulin-resistant model, obtained after long-term high fat diet （HFD） administration to c57B1/6 mice. Db/db mice showed an age-dependent cortical and hippocampal atrophy, whereas in HFD mice cortex and hippocampus were preserved. Neurogen- esis and cell proliferation were increased in young db/db mice, when compared with control mice, whereas no differences were detected in the prediabetic model. We also detected significant correlations between metabolic parameters and central atrophy, altered proliferation and neurogenesis in the central nervous system. Altogether these data support that glycaemia control in elderly patients, could help to control central alterations and improve dementia prognosis.
