Preliminary notes on brain weight variation across labrid fish species with different levels of cooperative behaviour

Brain size and weight vary tremendously in the animal kingdom. It has been suggested that brain structural develop- ment must evolve balanced between the advantages of dealing with greater social challenges mad the energetic costs of maintain- ing and developing larger brains. Here we ask if interspecific differences in cooperative behaviour （i.e. cleaning behaviour） are related to brain weight variations in four close-related species of Labrid fish： two are obligatory cleanerfish throughout their en- tire life （Labroides dimidiatus and L. bicolor）, one facultative cleaner fish Labropsis australis and one last species that never en- gage in cleaning Labrichthys unilineatus. We first search for the link between the rate of species＇ cooperation and its relative brain weight, and finally, if the degree of social complexity and cooperation are reflected in the weight of its major brain sub- structures. Overall, no differences were found in relative brain weight （in relation to body weight） across species. Fine-scale dif- ferences were solely demonstrated for the facultative cleaner L. australis, at the brainstem level. Furthermore, data visual exami- nation indicates that the average cerebellum and brainstem weights appear to be larger for L. dimidiatus. Because variation was solely found at specific brain areas （such as cerebellum and brainstem） and not for the whole brain weight values, it suggests that species social-ecological and cognitive demands may be directly contributing to a selective investment in relevant brain areas. This study provides first preliminary evidence that links potential differences in cognitive ability in cooperative behaviour to how these may mediate the evolution of brain structural development in non-mammal vertebrate groups .

The Beauty of Being a Variant： H2A.Z and the SWr1 complex in Plants

Numerous studies have shown that the nucleosome is a dynamic structure that strongly influences gene expression. Dynamism concerns different nucleosomal characteristics, including position, posttranslational modifications, and histone composition. Thus, within the nucleosome, canonical histones can be exchanged by histone variant proteins with specific functions--a process known as ‘histone replacement＇. The histone variant H2A.Z has an important function in transcription and, during the last few years, its role in plant development and immune response has become evident. compiling genetic and biochemical studies from several laboratories has revealed that plants contain a multiprotein complex, similar to the SWr1/SrcAP complex from yeast and animals, involved in H2A.Z deposition. Despite intense research in different organisms, the mechanism by which H2A.Z influences transcription is still unknown. However, recent results from Arabidopsis have shown a strong inverse correlation between H2A.Z and DNA methylation, suggesting that H2A.Z might protect genes from silencing.

Twenty years of drought-mediated change in snag populations in mixed-conifer and ponderosa pine forests in Northern Arizona

Background:Snags(standing dead trees)are important biological legacies in forest systems,providing numerous resources as well as a record of recent tree *** 1997 to 2017,we monitored snag populations in drought-influenced mixed-conifer and ponderosa pine(Pinus ponderosa)forests in northern ***:Snag density increased significantly in both forest *** increase was driven largely by a pulse in snag recruitment that occurred between 2002 and 2007,fol owing an extreme drought year in 2002,with snag recruitment returning to pre-pulse levels in subsequent time *** later years during the study also were warmer and/or drier than average,but these years were not as extreme as 2002 and did not trigger the same level of snag *** recruitment was not equal across tree species and size classes,resulting in significant changes in species composition and size-class distributions of snag populations in both forest *** trees were far more abundant than snags in these forests,the effect of this mortality pulse on tree populations was far smal er than its effect on snag *** loss rates increased over time during the study,even though many snags were newly *** may reflect the increasing prevalence of white fir snags and/or snags in the smal er size classes,which general y decay faster than snags of other species or larger ***,although total numbers of snags increased,many of the newly recruited snags may not persist long enough to be valuable as nesting substrates for native ***:Increases in snag abundance appeared to be due to a short-term tree mortality"event"rather than a longerterm pattern of elevated tree *** mortality event fol owed a dry and extremely warm year(2002)embedded within a longer-term *** models suggest that years like 2002 may occur with increasing frequency in the southwestern *** years may result in additional mortality pulses,wh

Domination is the fastest-growing field within graph theory with a profound diversity and impact in real-world applications,such as the recent breakthrough approach that identifies optimized subsets of proteins enriched with cancer-related *** its conceptual simplicity,domination is a classical NP-complete decision problem which makes analytical solutions elusive and poses difficulties to design optimization algorithms for finding a dominating set of minimum cardinality in a large ***,we derive for the first time an approximate analytical solution for the density of the minimum dominating set(MDS)by using a combination of cavity method and ultra-discretization(UD)*** derived equation allows us to compute the size of MDS by only using as an input the information of the degree distribution of a given network.

An in vitro and in silico study of anti-dermatophytic activity of gossypol from fruits of Thespesia populnea(L.)*** correa

Objective:To isolate,purify,and characterize gossypol from the fruits of Thespesia populnea(L)*** correa,test its antidermatophytic activity,identify its targets on the dermatophyte,and confirm the binding of gossypol with the fungal target by molecular docking ***:Gossypol from Thespesia populnea was characterized by high performance liquid chromatography,liquid chromatographmass spectrometry,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,and nuclear magnetic *** anti-dermatophytic activity of gossypol was tested against four different dermatophytes,*** mentagrophytes,Trichophyton rubrum,Microsporum canis,and Microsporum *** mentagrophytes was selected for further *** inhibitory mode of action of gossypol on Trichophyton mentagrophytes was determined by analyzing the modulation of gene expression in various pathways of the ***:Gossypol inhibited all the *** minimum inhibitory concentrations were 12.5μg/mL for Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Microsporum canis and 25μg/mL for Trichophyton rubrum and Microsporum *** minimum fungicidal concentrations were 50μg/mL for Trichophyton mentagrophytes,100μg/mL for Microsporum canis and Trichophyton rubrum,and 200μg/mL for Microsporum *** inhibited the mrNA expression of metalloprotease(MEP4)and isocitrate lyase(IcL).The binding of gossypol with the enzymes was confirmed by molecular docking *** best docking poses were found and the low binding energies were recorded with the two target ***:Gossypol is a potential antifungal agent and can be further explored as an anti-dermatophytic drug.

Phasor measurement units(PMUs)are fundamental tools in the applications of modern power systems,where synchronized phasor estimations are *** accuracy and dynamic performance requirements for phasor,frequency,and rate of change of frequency(rOcOF)estimations are established in the IEEE Std.c37.118.1-2011 along with the IEEE Std.c37.118.1 a-2014,where two PMU performances are suggested:P class filters for applications requiring fast response and M class filters for applications requiring high rejection to aliased *** this paper,a methodology to design new phasor estimators that satisfy the P class and M class requirements in PMUs is *** proposed methodology is based on finite impulse response filters,brick-wall filters,and complex filter design concepts,where frequency range,time performance,harmonic rejection and out-of-band interference requirements are considered in its design.A comparative analysis using the reference model given by the IEEE Std.c37.118.1 is *** results show the effectiveness of the phasor estimators under steady-state and dynamic conditions according to the PMU standard,making them suitable tools for applications in power systems.

cloud computing is a very promising paradigm of service-oriented computing. One major benefit of cloud computing is its elasticity, i.e., the system＇s capacity to provide and remove resources automatically at runtime. For that, it is essential to design and implement an efficient and effective technique that takes full advantage of the system＇s potential flexibility. This paper presents a non-intrusive approach that monitors the performance of relational database management systems in a cloud infrastructure, and automatically makes decisions to maximize the efficiency of the provider＇s environment while still satisfying agreed upon ＂service level agreements＂（SLAs）. Our experiments conducted on Amazon＇s cloud infrastructure, confirm that our technique is capable of automatically and dynamically adjusting the system＇s allocated resources observing the SLA.

Tuna classification using super learner ensemble of region-based cNN-grouped 2D-LBP models

Tuna is superior among the marine fishes that are exported in the forms of raw fish and processed *** of Tuna into their species is done in industries manually,and the process is *** work proposes an automated system for classifying Tuna spe-cies based on their *** ensemble of region-based deep neural networks is used.A sub region contrast stretching operation is applied to enhance the *** fish image is then divided into three regions and is augmented before giving as input to pre-trained convolutional neural networks(cNN).After fine-tuning the models,the output from the last convolutional layer is given to a grouped 2D-local binary pattern descriptor(G2DLBP).Statistical features from the descriptor are applied to different classifiers,and the best clas-sifier for each image region model is *** ensemble methods are subse-quently used to combine the three cNN-G2DLBP *** the ensemble techniques,super learner ensemble method with random forest(rF)classifier using 5-fold cross-validation shows the highest classification accuracy of 97.32%.The perfor-mance of different ensemble methods is analyzed in terms of accuracy,precision,recall,and *** proposed system shows an accuracy of 93.91% when evaluated with an independent test *** ensemble of region-based cNN with textural features from G2DLBP is applied for the first time for fish classification.

In recent times,sixth generation(6G)communication technologies have become a hot research topic because of maximum throughput and low delay services for mobile *** encompasses several heterogeneous resource and communication standard in ensuring incessant availability of *** the same time,the development of 6G enables the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)in offering cost and time-efficient solution to several applications like healthcare,surveillance,disaster management,*** UAV networks,energy efficiency and data collection are considered the major process for high quality network *** these procedures are found to be challenging because of maximum mobility,unstable links,dynamic topology,and energy restricted *** issues are solved by the use of artificial intelligence(AI)and energy efficient clustering techniques for UAVs in the 6G *** this inspiration,this work designs an artificial intelligence enabled cooperative cluster-based data collection technique for unmanned aerial vehicles(AEccDc-UAV)in 6G *** proposed AEccDc-UAV technique purposes for dividing the UAV network as to different clusters and allocate a cluster head(cH)to each cluster in such a way that the energy consumption(EcM)gets *** presented AEccDc-UAV technique involves a quasi-oppositional shuffled shepherd optimization(QOSSO)algorithm for selecting the cHs and construct *** QOSSO algorithm derives a fitness function involving three input parameters residual energy of UAVs,distance to neighboring UAVs,and degree of *** performance of the AEccDc-UAV technique is validated in many aspects and the obtained experimental values demonstration promising results over the recent state of art methods.
