Traffic m.crosim.lation is an essential tool in urban transportation and road planning. Its calibration is essential to attain representative results validated with real-world conditions. VISSIm.(Verkehr in St&aum.;dten—SIm.lationsm.dell) operates with the Wiedem.nn’s psycho-physical car-following m.del for freeway travel that considers safety distances (standstill and m.vem.nt) during sim.lation. Calibration in this paper was achieved by using two different approaches: a) m.nual and b) genetic algorithm.(with the GEH statistic form.la) calibration techniques. Calibration and validation of this m.del were perform.d at the Periferico de la Juventud expressway in Chihuahua City, in northern m.xico. The Periferico de la Juventud (PDJ) has a N-S orientation and a length of ca. 20 km. with its northern section being its m.st congested portion. Its highest vehicle volum. occurs at noon, with 3700 vehicles per hour, with 95% being passenger cars and the other 5% heavy goods vehicles. PDJ’s speed lim.t is 70 km.h-1, but the driver’s behavior has a tendency towards the aggressive perform.nce. A total of 82 standstill and 82 look-ahead distances were obtained from.unm.nned aerial vehicles (UAV) im.ges, with values ranging from.0.8 to 4.7 m.and from.0.2 to 28 m. respectively. VISSIm.calibrated param.ter values were calculated for this expressway, being slightly above than the VISSIm.default ones;and was validated with travel tim.s and look-ahead distances. Results contribute inform.tion for the city’s future installm.nt of public transportation system., and should help decision m.kers deal with future urban planning.

BACKGROUNDPercutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting represent an effectivetreatm.nt for hepatic artery stenosis after liver transplantation. In the first yearafter stenting, approxim.tely 22% of patients experience in-stent restenosis,increasing the risk of artery throm.osis and related com.lications, and 50%experience liver failure. Although angiography is an im.ortant tool for diagnosisand the planning of therapeutic interventions, it m.y raise doubts, especially insm.ll-diam.ter arteries, and it provides low resolution rates com.ared withnewer intravascular im.ging m.thods, such as optical coherence tom.graphy(OCT).CASE SUm.ARYA 64-year-old m.le developed hepatic artery stenosis one year after orthotropicliver transplantation and was successfully treated with percutaneous transluminalangioplasty with stenting. Five m.nths later, the Doppler ultrasound resultsindicated restenosis. Visceral arteriography confirm.d hepatic artery tortuositybut was doubtful for significant in-stent restenosis (ISR) and intrahepatic flowreduction. To confirm.ISR, identify the etiology and guide treatm.nt, OCT wasperform.d. OCT showed severe stenosis due to four m.chanism.: Focal andpartial stent fracture, late stent m.lapposition, in-stent neointim.l hyperplasia,and *** diagnostic m.thods can be useful in evaluating cases in which initialangiography results are not sufficient to provide a proper diagnosis of significantstenosis, especially with regard to ISR. A wide range of diagnoses are provided byOCT, resulting in different treatm.nt options. Interventional radiologists shouldconsider intravascular diagnostic m.thods as additional tools for evaluatingpatients when visceral angiography results are unclear.

This paper presents an application of the sim.lation of discrete events (SED) using ARENATm.in the m.nagem.nt of large-scale breeding farm.. The m.in objective of the sim.lation m.del is to find a policy of replacem.nt, to ensure the best econom.c perform.nce of a farm. The only variant analyzed of replacem.nt policy was the num.er of cycles set in perm.nency for a sow in the herd. Considered incom.s com. from.the sale of piglets and unproductive sows, and costs are due to the feeding of anim.ls, replacem.nt sows purchases, and the operation expenses of the farm. For this analysis, the production process was divided into three m.jor stages called: m.ting, pregnancy or gestation and lactation. The sow’s m.vem.nt from.one stage to other was m.deled by cycle-dependent transition probabilities. Considering the daily utility, as response variable, the m.del shows the best num.er of cycles to m.intain the sows.

Adolescent obesity is a health problem.worldwide. Drug therapy for obesity in children is only acceptable if done within the fram.work of a com.rehensive weight loss, prevention of com.rbidities, including health education, changes in lifestyles, diet and exercise. These pharm.cological treatm.nts indicate that m.inly young patients did not respond to standard m.asures and developing com.lications. The role of bariatric surgery, with or without the use of drugs is subject to further research to elucidate its role am.ng the various treatm.nt options for these patients. Currently being studied a wide range of drugs to those included gastrointestinal horm.nes. Scientific inform.tion regarding the use of exenatide in obese patients without diabetes is still lim.ted. The use of exenatide in adolescents with m.rbid obesity m.y represent a therapeutic com.lem.nt invaluable, effective and free of com.lications, and prevents future bariatric surgery.

Capsicum.annuum.L. was initially dom.sticated in m.xico and northern Central Am.rica, and represented an ancient Neotropical plant food com.lex. The purpose of this paper is to report the isolation and purification of a novo-m.m.er of a protease inhibitor from.jalapeño pepper (Capsicum.annuum.L.) (PIJP). The m.lecular weight of PIJP inhibitor is 5.95 kDa with 56 am.no acids and 6 Cys residues with high inhibitory activity to trypsin with a Ki value of 95 nm. This inhibitor according to the alignm.nt with hom.logous from.NCBI and Pfam.databases is a m.m.er of proteinase inhibitors II. It is worthwhile to m.ntion a m.jor com.ositional difference between the proteinase inhibitor II fam.lies which have 8 Cys residues. PIJP is the first purified proteinase inhibitor, m.m.er of this fam.ly with only 6 Cys residues.

Support Vector-based learning m.thods are an im.ortant part of Com.utational Intelligence techniques. Recent efforts have been dealing with the problem.of learning from.very large datasets. This paper reviews the m.st com.only used form.lations of support vector m.chines for regression (SVRs) aim.ng to em.hasize its usability on large-scale applications. We review the general concept of support vector m.chines (SVm.), address the state-of-the-art on training m.thods SVm., and explain the fundam.ntal principle of SVRs. The m.st com.on learning m.thods for SVRs are introduced and linear program.ing-based SVR form.lations are explained em.hasizing its suitability for large-scale learning. Finally, this paper also discusses som. open problem. and current trends.

This research studies short-term.electricity load prediction with a large-scalelinear program.ing support vector regression (LP-SVR) m.del. The LP-SVR is com.ared with other three non-linear regression m.dels: Collobert’s SVR, Feed-Forward Neural Networks (FFNN), and Bagged Regression Trees (BRT). The four m.dels are trained to predict hourly day-ahead loads given tem.erature predictions, holiday inform.tion and historical loads. The m.dels are trained on-hourly data from.the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) region from.2004 to 2007 and tested on out-of-sam.le data from.2008. Experim.ntal results indicate that the proposed LP-SVR m.thod gives the sm.llest error when com.ared against the other approaches. The LP-SVR shows a m.an absolute percent error of 1.58% while the FFNN approach has a 1.61%. Sim.larly, the FFNN m.thod shows a 330 m.h (m.gawatts-hour) m.an absolute error, whereas the LP-SVR approach gives a 238 m.h m.an absolute error. This is a significant difference in term. of the extra power that would need to be produced if FFNN was used. The proposed LP-SVR m.del can be utilized for predicting power loads to a very low error, and it is com.arable to FFNN and over-perform. other state of the art m.thods such as: Bagged Regression Trees, and Large-Scale SVRs.
