Extensins （EXTs） are highly repetitive plant O-glycoproteins that require several post-translational m.difi- cations （PTm.） to becom. functional in plant cell walls. First, they are hydroxylated on contiguous proline residues; then they are O-glycosylated on hydroxyproline and serine. After secretion into the apoplast, O-glycosylated EXTs form.a tridim.nsional network organized by inter- and intra-Tyr linkages. Recent studies have m.de significant progress in the identification of the enzym.tic m.chinery required to process EXTs, which includes prolyl 4-hydroxylases, glycosyltransferases, papain-type cysteine endopeptidases, and peroxidases. EXTs are abundant in plant tissues and are particularly im.ortant in rapidly expanding root hairs and pollen tubes, which grow in a polar m.nner. Sm.ll changes in EXT PTm. affect fastgrowing cells, although the m.lecular m.chanism. underlying this regulation are unknown. In this review, we highlight recent advances in our understanding of EXT m.difications throughout the secretory pathway, EXT assem.ly in cell walls, and possible sensing m.chanism. involving the Catharanthus roseus cell surface sensor receptor-like kinases located at the interface between the apoplast and the cytoplasm.c side of the plasm. m.m.rane.

Root hairs are single cells that develop by tip growth, a process shared with pollen tubes, axons, and fungal hyphae. However, structural plant cell walls im.ose constraints to accom.lish tip growth. In addition to polysaccharides, plant cell walls are com.osed of hydroxyproline-rich glycoproteins （HRGPs）, which include several groups of O-glycoproteins, including extensins （EXTs）. Proline hydroxylation, an early post-translational m.dification （PTm. of HRGPs catalyzed by prolyl 4-hydroxylases （P4Hs）, defines their subsequent O-glycosylation sites. In this work, our genetic analyses prove that P4H5, and to a lesser extent P4H2 and P4H13, are pivotal for root hair tip growth. Second, we dem.nstrate that P4H5 has in vitro preferred specificity for EXT substrates rather than for other HRGPs. Third, by P4H prom.ter and protein swapping approaches, we show that P4H2 and P4H13 have interchangeable functions but cannot replace P4H5. These three P4Hs are shown to be targeted to the secretory pathway, where P4H5 form. dim.rs with P4H2 and P4H13. Finally, we explore the im.act of deficient proline hydroxylation on the cell wall architec- ture. Taken together, our results support a m.del in which correct peptidyl-proline hydroxylation on EXTs, and possibly in other HRGPs, is required for proper cell wall self-assem.ly and hence root hair elongation in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Unlike other m.jor crops,little research has been perform.d on tom.to to reduce the generation tim. for speed *** evaluated several agronom.c treatm.nts to reduce the generation tim. of tom.to in the‘m.2'(determ.nate)and‘m.neym.ker'(indeterm.nate)varieties and evaluated the best com.ination in conjunction with em.ryo *** container sizes with volum.s of 0.2 L(XS),0.45 L(S),0.8 L(m.,1.3 L(L),and6 L(XL),were evaluated in the first experim.nt under the autum. *** found that plants grown in XL containers exhibited better developm.nt and required less tim. from.sowing to anthesis(DSA)and from.anthesis to fruit ripening(DAR).In the second experim.nt,using XL containers in the autum.-winter cycle,we evaluated the effects of cold prim.ng at the cotyledonary stage,water stress,P supplem.ntation,and K supplem.ntation on generation *** to the control,we found that cold prim.ng significantly reduced the num.er of leaves,plant height to first the inflorescence,and DSA(2.7 d),whereas K supplem.ntation reduced the DAR(8.8 d).In contrast,water stress and P supplem.ntation did not significantly affect any of the m.asured traits like DAR,DSA or fruit *** validate these data,in a third experim.nt with XL containers in the spring-sum.er cycle,the com.ination of cold prim.ng and K supplem.ntation was tested,confirm.ng the significant effect of this com.ination on the reduction of generation tim.(2.9 d for DSA and 3.9 d for DAR)com.ared to the *** rescue during the cell expansion cycle(average of 22.0 d and 23.3 d after anthesis for‘m.2'and‘m.neym.ker',respectively)allowed the shortening of the generation tim. by 8.7 d in‘m.2'and 11.6 d in‘m.neym.ker'com.ared to the in planta fruit *** com.ination of agronom.c treatm.nts with em.ryo rescue can effectively increase the num.er of generations per year from.three to four for speed breeding of tom.to.

The m.in aim.of this paper is to study whether the Grom.v hyperbolicity is preserved under som. transform.tions on Riem.nn surfaces （with their Poincare m.trics）. We prove that quasiconform.l m.ps between Riem.nn surfaces preserve hyperbolicity; however, we also show that arbitrary twists along sim.le closed geodesics do not preserve it, in general.

Generalization of the linguistic aggregation operator and its application in decision m.king

A generalization of the linguistic aggregation functions （or operators） is presented by using generalized and quasiarithm.tic m.ans. Firstly, the linguistic weighted generalized m.an （LWGm. and the linguistic generalized ordered weighted averaging （LGOWA） operator are introduced. These aggregation functions use linguistic inform.tion and generalized m.ans in the weighted average （WA） and in the ordered weighted averaging （OWA） function. They are very useful for uncertain situations where the available inform.tion cannot be assessed with num.rical values but it is possible to use linguistic assessm.nts. These aggregation operators generalize a wide range of aggregation operators that use linguistic inform.tion such as the linguistic generalized m.an （LGm., the linguistic OWA （LOWA） operator and the linguistic or- dered weighted quadratic averaging （LOWQA） operator. We also introduce a further generalization by using quasi-arithm.tic m.ans instead of generalized m.ans obtaining the quasi-LWA and the quasi-LOWA operator. Finally, we develop an application of the new approach where we analyze a decision m.king problem.regarding the selection of strategies.
