Since the pioneering work by Broca and Wernicke in the 19th century,who examined individuals with brain lesions to associate them with specific behaviors,it was evident that behaviors are complex and cannot be fully attributable to specific brain areas ***,they involve connectivity among brain areas,whether close or *** that time,this approach was considered the optimal way to dissect brain circuitry and *** pioneering efforts opened the field to explore the necessity or sufficiency of brain areas in controlling behavior and hence dissecting brain ***,the connectivity of the brain and the mechanisms through which various brain regions regulate specific behaviors,either individually or collaboratively,remain largely *** animal models,researchers have endeavored to unravel the necessity or sufficiency of specific brain areas in influencing behavior;however,no clear associations have been firmly established.

Novel mono-and bimetallic scorpionate aluminum compounds have been designed and characterized by spec-troscopic *** organometallics complexes,in combination with tetrabutylammonium bromide as cocatalyst,displayed good catalytic activity for the cycloaddition of styrene oxide and CO_(2) under ambient *** the compounds tested,monometallic complex 3 featuring diethylamino groups showed the highest catalytic *** catalytic system catalyzed the formation of cyclic carbonate products from their corresponding epoxides at room temperature and 1 bar of CO_(2) pressure in the absence of a solvent in good yields and excellent selectivities.

The effect of a homogenizing treatment on the hardness of as-cast Zn–Al–Cu alloys was investigated. Eight alloy compositions were prepared and homogenized at 350 °C for 180 h, and their Rockwell 'B' hardness was subsequently measured. All the specimens were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and metallographically prepared for observation by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results of the present work indicated that the hardness of both alloys(as-cast and homogenized) increased with increasing Al and Cu contents; this increased hardness is likely related to the presence of the θ and τ′ phases. A regression equation was obtained to determine the hardness of the homogenized alloys as a function of their chemical composition and processing parameters, such as homogenization time and temperature, used in their preparation.

Telaprevir and Boceprevir are the first direct acting antivirals approved for chronic hepatitis C in combination with peg-interferon alfa and *** due to myelotoxicity caused by these drugs may occur,but severe hematological abnormalities or aplastic anemia(AA) have not been *** collected all cases of severe pancytopenia observed during triple therapy with telaprevir in four Spanish centers since approval of the drug in *** 142 cirrhotic patients receiving treatment,7 cases of severe pancytopenia(5%) were identified and three were consistent with the diagnosis of *** age was 59 years,five patients had compensated cirrhosis and two patients had severe hepatitis C recurrence after liver *** pancytopenia was diagnosed a median of 10 wk after the initiation of *** patients had pre-treatment hematological abnormalities related to *** six patients,antiviral treatment was interrupted at the onset of hematological *** patients died due to septic complications and one patient due to acute alveolar *** remaining patients *** pancytopenia and especially AA,are not rare during triple therapy with telaprevir in patients with advanced liver *** monitoring is imperative in this setting to promptly detect serious hematological disorders and to prevent further complications.

During decades, gypsum has been employed as construction material for its versatility and particle size. In the present work, the possibility of.developing gypsum panels with the incorporation of pumice and polypropylene as alternative materials has been investigated. Pumice as well as polypropylene allows obtaining lighter panels than those on the market and with a lower production cost. Each one of these materials was characterized separately. In the case of gypsum and pumice, their granulometry, pH and humidity were determined, whereas polypropylene was characterized by a traction-deformation essay. Then, panels composition （gypsum and pumice concentration）, particle size, water temperature and the way polypropylene was added, was assessed. Panels with a 70% of gypsum, with a particle size of 198 btm and with polypropylene added in a laminar fashion, presented a compressive strength of 350 kPa, which accords to the norm ASTM 1396 and with market requirements. finally, it was proposed a block diagram of the process for the fabrication of 100 kg/day of formulated panels.

AIM:To investigate the morbidity,mortality,recurrence and technical aspects of two distinct surgical strategies that were implemented in successive ***:Ninty-two patients with 113 cysts underwent surgical *** study was divided into 2 *** from first period(P1) were compiled *** surgical strategy was conservative *** second period(P2) included a prospective study conducted according to a protocol following the criterion that radical procedures should be performed whenever it is technically ***:Patients of both periods showed no statistically significant differences in age,gender,cyst location or *** the P2 group,patients exhibited more preoperative jaundice,and cyst size was smaller(P f radical surgery,decreases morbidity and in-hospital stay(P death of two old patients(4.8%) who had undergone conser-vative *** rate of radical surgery in P2 was around 75%.CONCLUSION:Radical surgery should be the technique of choice whenever it is feasible,because it diminishes morbidity and in-hospital *** surgery must be employed only in selected cases.

AIM：To determine the effects of peripheral corneal thickness（PCT）on dynamic contour tonometry（DCT）and Goldmann applanation tonometry（GAT）.METHODS：A cross-sectional *** created a software which calculates the corneal contour（CC）as a function of the radius from the corneal apex to each pixel of the *** software generates a central circumference with a radius of 1 mm and the remainder of the cornea is segmented in 5 rings concentric with corneal apex being its diameter not constant around the corneal circumference as a consequence of the irregular CC but keeping constant the diameter of each ring in each direction of the *** was determined as the mean thickness of the most eccentric *** weighted scatterplot smoothing（LOWESS）regression was used to determine the pattern of the relationship between PCT and both DCT and GAT ***,two multivariable linear regression models were *** each of them,the dependant variable was intraocular pressure（IOP）as determined using GAT and DCT *** both of the models the predictive variable was PCT though LOWESS regression pattern was used to model the relationship between the dependant variables and the predictor *** and sex were also introduced control variables along with their first-degree interactions with *** outcome measures include amount of IOP variation explained through regression models（R2）and regression coefficients（B）.RESULTS：Subjects included 109 eyes of 109 healthy *** regression suggested that a 2nd-degree polynomial would be suitable to model the relationshipbetween both DCT and GAT with *** PCT was introduced in both models as a linear and quadratic *** age nor sex nor interactions were statistically significant in both *** GAT model,R2was 17.14%（f=9.02;P=0.0002）,PCT linear term B was-1.163（95%CI：-1.163,-0.617）.PCT quadratic term B was 0.00081（95%CI：0.00043,0.00118）.for DCT model R2was 14.28%（f=9.29;P=0.0002
