Insights into the origin of precipitation moisture for tropical cyclones during rapid intensification process

In this study,we identiﬁed the moisture sources for the precipitation associated with tropical cyclones(Tcs)during the rapid intensiﬁcation(RI)process from 1980 to 2018 by applying a Lagrangian moisture source diagnostic *** detected sixteen regions on a global scale for RI events distributed as follows:four in the North Atlantic(NATL),two in the central and East Paciﬁc Ocean(NEPAc),the North Indian Ocean(NIO)and South Indian Ocean(SIO),and three in the South Paciﬁc Ocean(SPO)and the Western North Paciﬁc Ocean(WNP).The moisture uptake(MU)mostly was from the regions where Tcs underwent *** Western NATL,tropical NATL,caribbean Sea,the Gulf of Mexico and the central America and Mexico landmass supported~85.4%of the precipitating moisture in the NATL,while the latter source and the eastern North Paciﬁc Ocean provided the higher amount of moisture in NEPAc(~84.3%).The Arabian Sea,the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Peninsula were the major moisture sources in NIO,contributing approximately 81.3%.The eastern and western parts of the Indian Ocean supplied most of the atmospheric humidity in SIO(~83.8%).The combined contributions(~87.9%)from the western and central SPO and the coral Sea were notably higher in ***,Tcs in the WNP basin mostly received moisture from the western North Paciﬁc Ocean,the Philippine Sea and the china Sea,accounting for 80.1%.The remaining moisture support in each basin came from the summed contributions of the remote ***,RI Tcs gained more moisture up to 2500 km from the cyclone centre than those slow intensiﬁcation(SI)and the total MU was approximately three times higher during RI than ***,the patterns of the MU differences respond to the typical pathways of moisture transport in each basin.

Tropical cyclone(Tc)-related rainfall mostly depends on the atmospheric moisture uptake from local and remote *** this study,the mean water vapour residence time(MWVRT)was computed for precipitation related to Tcs in each basin and on a global scale by applying a Lagrangian moisture source diagnostic *** to our results,the highest MWVRT was found for the Tcs over the South Indian Ocean and South Pacific Ocean basins(~3.08 days),followed by the Western North Pacific Ocean,central and East North Pacific Ocean,North Indian Ocean,and North Atlantic Ocean basins(which exhibited values of 2.98,2.94,2.85,and 2.72 days,respectively).We also found a statistically significant(pcrease in MWVRT,at a rate of~2.4 h/decade in the North Indian Ocean and~1.0 h/decade in the remaining *** average,the MWVRT decreased during the 24 h before Tcs made landfall,and the atmospheric parcels precipitated faster after evaporation when Tcs moved over land than over the *** research should focus on the relationship between global warming and MWVRT of atmospheric parcels that precipitate over Tc positions.

Background:Ocular surface disease in glaucoma patients is a significant ocular co-morbidity that can affect 40%to 59%of these patients *** current study was aimed at evaluating the potential clinical benefit of an intense pulsed light(IPL)-based treatment in glaucomatous patients with ocular surface disease due to prolonged hypotensive eyedrop *** our knowledge,this is the first series analyzing the therapeutic effect of this treatment option in this type of ***:This non-comparative prospective case series study enrolled a total of 30 glaucoma patients ranging in age from 57 to 94 years old and treated with hypotensive eyedrops for years with dry eye *** patients received four sessions of IPL treatment using the Optima IPL system(Lumenis,Yokneam,Israel)adjusted to the official optimized Lumenis *** in symptomatology,corneal staining,conjunctival hyperemia,non-invasive break-up time(NIBUT),tear osmolarity,tear meniscus height(TMH),meiboscore and meibomian gland expressibility was analyzed after ***:Statistically significant reductions were observed after IPL treatment in the symptomatology scores measured with different questionnaires[ocular surface disease index(OSDI),standard patient evaluation of eye dryness(SPEED)and symptom assessment questionnaire in dry eye(SANDE)]as well as with the visual analogue scale(Pchange in OSDI was−15.0±11.3.A significant reduction was found after treatment in the corneal staining score(Pcant reduction was found in tear film meniscus height(P=0.012),as well as in tear film osmolarity(P=0.001).A significant reduction was also found in meibomian gland expressibility(P=0.003),changing the percentage of grade 3 eyes from 44.4%before IPL to 17.2%after ***:IPL therapy combined with meibomian gland expression(MGX)seems to be an effective option to improve symptomatology in glaucomatous patients with ocular surface diseas

The brain is,after the adipose tissue,the organ with the greatest amount of lipids and diversity in their composition in the human *** neurons,lipids are involved in signaling pathways controlling autophagy,a lysosome-dependent catabolic process essential for the maintenance of neuronal homeostasis and the function of the primary cilium,a cellular antenna that acts as a communication hub that transfers extracellular signals into intracellular responses required for neurogenesis and brain development.A crosstalk between primary cilia and autophagy has been established;however,its role in the control of neuronal activity and homeostasis is barely *** this review,we briefly discuss the current knowledge regarding the role of autophagy and the primary cilium in *** we review the recent literature about specific lipid subclasses in the regulation of autophagy,in the control of primary cilium structure and its dependent cellular signaling in physiological and pathological conditions,specifically focusing on neurons,an area of research that could have major implications in neurodevelopment,energy homeostasis,and neurodegeneration.

Teachers’ Perceptions of the challenges and Strategies in Supporting Students with Reading Difficulties

The purpose of this study is to determine the teacher’s perceptions of the challenges and strategies in supporting students with reading *** study used qualitative method of research and descriptive approach as its research design,in addition to a set of structured interview questions administered through Google Forms to gather data from elementary teachers of Taal central School,located at Taal *** structured interview questions were carefully designed to cover various dimensions of the study,including the types of challenges perceived by teachers,strategies employed,and possible solutions for addressing the problems encountered in the process of supporting students with reading *** results revealed that teachers faced several challenges when teaching students with reading difficulties such as emotional and motivational issues/factors,lack of resources or teaching aids,deficits in knowledge and skills,and problems with student engagement and *** study also showed common approaches utilized by the teachers in supporting students with reading difficulties,which were fostering a positive and supportive environment,adopting individualized and multifaceted approaches,and utilizing effective teaching tools and ***,teachers also concluded varied solutions in addressing the challenges perceived in teaching students with reading difficulties towards fostering reading *** include developing peer support,use of positive reinforcement,and parental ***,specialized resources,professional development for teachers,and specific teaching strategies are also highlighted as crucial *** integrating these approaches,teachers concluded that it can create a supportive and effective learning environment tailored to the needs of students with reading difficulties.

Expression changes of mi RNA-regulated genes associated with the formation of the leafy head in cabbage
