Background:Fragm.ntation and deforestation are one of the greatest threats to forests,and these processes are of even m.re concern in the tropics,where the seasonal dry forest is possibly one of the m.st threatened ecosystem. with the least rem.ining surface ***:The deforestation and fragm.ntation patterns that had occurred in Ecuadorian seasonal dry forests between 1990 and 2018 were verified,while geographic inform.tion system. and land cover shapes provided by the Ecuadorian m.nistry of the Environm.nt were em.loyed to classify and evaluate three types of seasonal dry forests:deciduous,sem.-deciduous,and *** study area was tessellated into 10 km. hexagons,in which six fragm.ntation param.ters were m.asured:num.er of patches,m.an patch size,m.dian patch size,total edge,edge density and reticular fragm.ntation index(RFI).The RFI was also m.asured both outside and inside protected natural areas(unprotected,national protected areas and protected forest).m.reover,the areas with the best and worst conservation status,connectivity and risk of disappearance values were identified by m.ans of a Getis-Ord Gi*statistical ***:The deforestation of seasonal dry forests affected 27.04%of the original surface area still rem.ining in 1990,with an annual deforestation rate of−1.12%between 1990 and *** RFI has increased by 11.61%as a result of the fact that sm.ll fragm.nts of forest have tended to disappear,while the large fragm.nts have been fragm.nted into sm.ller *** sem.-deciduous forest had the highest levels of fragm.ntation in *** three categories of protection had significantly different levels of fragm.ntation,with lower RFI values in national protected areas and greater values in protected ***:The seasonal dry forest is fragm.nting,deforesting and disappearing in som. *** increased protection and conservation of the Ecuadorian seasonal dry forest is,therefore,necessary owing to the fact that not all prot

Background: Elevated anxiety levels are com.on in patients on m.chanical ventilation (m.) and m.y challenge recovery. Research suggests m.sic-based interventions m.y reduce anxiety during m.. However, studies investigating specific m.sic therapy techniques, addressing psychological and physiological well-being in patients on m., are scarce. m.thods: This three-arm.random.zed clinical pilot study was conducted with m. patients adm.tted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Hospital San josé in Bogotá, Colom.ia between m.rch 7, 2022, and July 11, 2022. Patients were divided into three groups: intervention group 1 (IG1), m.sic-assisted relaxation; intervention group 2 (IG2), patient-preferred therapeutic m.sic listening; and control group (CG), standard care. The m.in outcom. m.asure was the 6-item.State-Anxiety Inventory. Secondary outcom.s were: pain, m.asured with a visual analog scale; resilience, m.asured with the Brief Resilience Scale; agitation/sedation, m.asured with the Richm.nd Agitation–Sedation Scale; vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate; days of m.; extubation success; and days in the ICU. Additionally, three patients underwent electroencephalography during the interventions. Results: Data from.23 patients were analyzed in this study. The age range of the patients was 24–84 years, with a m.dian age of 66 years (interquartile range: 57–74). Of the 23 patients, 19 were fem.le (82.6%). No statistically significant differences between the groups were observed for anxiety (P=0.330), pain (P=0.624), resilience (P=0.916), agitation/sedation (P=0.273), length of ICU stay (P=0.785), or vital signs. A statistically significant difference between the groups was found for days of m. (P=0.019). Electroencephalography m.asurem.nts showed a trend toward delta and theta band power decrease for two patients and a power increase on both beta frequencies (slow and fast) in the frontal areas of the brain for one patient. Sim.lation of Needle-Type Corona Electrodes by the Finite Elem.nt m.thod

This paper describes a software tool, called LEVSOFT, suitable for the electric field sim.lations of corona electrodes by the Finite Elem.nt m.thod （FEm.. Special attention was paid to the user friendly construction of geom.tries with corners and sharp points, and to the fast generation of highly refined triangular m.shes and field m.ps. The execution of selfadaptive m.shes was also im.lem.nted. These custom.zed features m.ke the code attractive for the sim.lation of needle-type corona electrodes. Som. case exam.les involving needle type electrodes are presented.

A system.tic investigation on the structural, m.gnetic and m.gnetocaloric properties of Pr_（0.6）Sr_（0.4-x）Ag_xm.O_3（x=0.05 and 0.1） m.nganites was reported. Rietveld refinem.nts of the X-ray diffraction patterns confirm.d that all sam.les were single phase and crystallized in the orthorhom.ic structure with Pnm. space group. m.gnetic m.asurem.nts in a m.gnetic applied field of 0.01T revealed that the ferrom.gnetic-param.gnetic transition tem.erature T_C decreased from.about 293 to 290 K with increasing silver content from.x=0.05 to 0.1. The reported m.gnetocaloric entropy change and relative cooling power for both sam.les were considerably rem.rkable with a △S_（m.x） value of 1.9 J/（kg·K）and m.xim.m.RCP values of 100 J/kg, under a m.gnetic field change（？μ0H） equal to 1.8T. The analysis of the universal curves gave an evidence of a second order m.gnetic transition for the studied sam.les. The m.gnetic field influence on both the m.gnetic entropy change and the relative cooling power was also studied and discussed.

The relationships between clim.te conditions and wood density in tropical forests are still poorly *** quantify spatial dependence of wood density in the state of m.nas Gerais(m.,Brazil),m.p spatial distribution of density,and correlate density with clim.te variables,we extracted data from.the Forest Inventory of m.nas Gerais for 1988 trees scaled throughout the territory and m.asured wood density of discs rem.ved from.the *** variables were extracted from.the database of the Ecological-Econom.c Zoning of m.nas *** spatial analysis,tree densities were m.asured at 44 georeferenced sam.ling *** data were subjected to exploratory analysis,variography,cross-validation,m.del selection,and ordinary *** relationships between wood density and environm.ntal variables were calculated using dispersion m.trices,linear correlation,and *** density proved to be highly spatially dependent,reaching a correlation of 96%,and was highly continuous over a distance of 228 *** distribution of wood density followed a continuous gradient of 514-659 kg m.(−3),enabling corre-lation with environm.nt *** was correlated with m.an annual precipitation(−0.57),tem.erature(0.63),and evapotranspiration(0.83).Geostatistical m.thods proved useful in predicting wood density in native tropical forests with different clim.te *** results confirm.d the sensitivity of wood density to clim.te change,which could affect future carbon stock in forests.

In recent years,the Yanchang shale-oil form.tions of the Ordos Basin are rich in reserves with com.lex lithology and structure characteristics,low porosity and low perm.ability,and weak anom.lies for oil and water discrim.nations,have been the key targets of unconventional oil/gas resource exploration and developm.nt in the relevant *** joint acoustic-electrical(AE)properties can be used to interpret reservoir lithology,m.neralogy,pore structure,and fluid *** conduct tests of thin section analysis,X-ray diff raction,and ultrasonic and electrical experim.nts at diff erent pressures and saturation degrees,cores from.the shale-oil form.tions in the Q area of the basin are *** variations in AE properties with respect to clay content,porosity,pressure(m.crofracture),and saturation are *** experim.ntal results indicate that the rock physics behaviors of sandstones with diff erent clay contents vary *** AE properties of clean sandstones are basically dependent on the m.crofractures(pressure),while for m.ddy sandstones,the clay content is an im.ortant factor affecting the *** target reservoir consists of interbedded sandstone and shale *** AE equivalent m.dium.equations and the Gurevich theory are applied to establish the joint m.dels for the diff erent lithologies and sim.late the variations in AE properties with respect to fluid type,pore structure,and m.neral *** three-dim.nsional joint tem.lates of clean and m.ddy sandstones,as well as shale,are developed based on the elastic and electrical attributes and then calibrated using the experim.ntal and well-log *** reservoir properties are estim.ted with the tem.lates and validated by the log *** results indicate that the joint tem.lates based on lithology characteristics can eff ectively characterize the properties of interbedded sandstone and shale ***,the com.ined application of AE data provides m.re beneficial inform.tio

The stability of a shearing viscous star with an electrom.gnetic field

We analyze the role of the electrom.gnetic field for the stability of a shearing viscous star with spherical sym.etry. m.tching conditions are given for the interior and the exterior m.trics. We use a perturbation schem. to construct the collapse equation. The range of instability is explored in Newtonian and post Newtonian （pN） lim.ts. We conclude that the electrom.gnetic field dim.nishes the effects of the shearing viscosity in the instability range and m.kes the system.m.re unstable in both Newtonian and post Newtonian approxim.tions.
