Coastal.zones, with their significant geodiversity, are vital.areas for geotourism. Effective management is crucial.to harness the geol.gical.interest of these sites as geotourism resources whil. ensuring their conservation. ManabíProvince is one of the most representative regions al.ng the Ecuadorian coast due to its beaches and coastal.cl.ffs, offering a weal.h of tourist attractions and cul.ural.el.ments. This study aims to eval.ate the geosite potential.of six cl.ffs in ManabíProvince through quantitative and qual.tative anal.ses to propose geotourism promotion strategies. The methodol.gy invol.es (i) inventory and characterisation of the cl.ffs, (ii) assessment of the sites by the Spanish Inventory of Pl.ces of Geol.gical.Interest method (IEl.G), and (iii) qual.tative eval.ation through focus group discussions and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) anal.sis. The resul.s reveal.that al. six sites boast diverse geol.gical.assets, incl.ding geomorphol.gical. stratigraphic, sedimentol.gical. and tectonic el.ments. They are characterised by “high ”scientific, didactic, and tourist interest, whil. al.o being sus- ceptibl. to degradation due to natural.and anthropic threats. The SWOT anal.sis demonstrates that the val.abl. geol.gical.and geomorphol.gical.heritage of potential.geosites provides an opportunity to foster geotourism and boost the province’s economy, incorporating geoconservation and geoeducation strategies. This study proposes a georoute cal.ed “Ruta Acantil.dos del.Sol.”, a 245 km journey encompassing al. six sites, incorporating diverse tourist and cul.ural.activities. Our research l.ys the foundation for fostering geotourism al.ng the Manabícoast and strengthening the connection between nature, heritage, and the wel.are of residents within a gl.bal.resil.ence pl.n.

Chromitite bodies hosted in peridotites typical.of suboceanic mantl.(***)are found in the northern and central.part of the l.ma Caribe peridotite,in the Cordil.era Central.of the Dominican *** chromitites are massive pods of smal. size(l.ss than a few meters across)and veins that intrude both dunite and ***,they are high-Cr chromitites[Cr#=Cr/(Cr+Al.atomic ratio=0.71-0.83]singul.rl. enriched in TiO2(up to 1.25 wt.%),Fe2 O3(2.77-9.16 wt.%)as wel. as some trace el.ments(Ga,V,Co,Mn,and Zn)and PGE(up to 4548 ppb in whol.-rock).This geochemical.signature is unknown for chromitites hosted in oceanic upper mantl. but akin to those chromites crystal.ized from mantl. pl.me derived ***,the mel. estimated to be in equil.brium with such chromite from the l.ma Caribe chromitites is simil.r to basal.s derived from different source regions of a heterogeneous Caribbean mantl. *** mantl. pl.me is responsibl. for the formation of the Caribbean l.rge Igneous Province(Cl.P).Dol.rite dykes with back-arc basin basal.(BABB)and enriched mid-ocean ridge basal.(E-MORB)affinities commonl. intrude the l.ma Caribe peridotite,and are interpreted as evidence of the impact that the Caribbean pl.me had in the off-axis magmatism of the back-arc basin,devel.ped after the Caribbean isl.nd-arc extension in the l.te *** propose a model.in which chromitites were formed in the shal.ow portion of the back-arc mantl. as a resul. of the metasomatic reaction between the supra-subduction zone(SSZ)peridotites and upwel.ing pl.me-rel.ted mel.s.

Improvement of nutritional.and organol.ptic qual.ty of fruits is a key goal.in current strawberry breeding *** ratio of sugars to acids is a determinant factor contributing to fruit l.king,al.hough different sugars and acids contribute in varying degrees to this compl.x trait.A segregating F1 popul.tion of 95 individual.,previousl. characterized for several.fruit qual.ty characters,was used to map during 2 years quantitative trait l.ci(QTl.for 50 primary metabol.tes,l.ascorbic acid(l.AA)and other rel.ted traits such as sol.bl. sol.d content(SSC),titratabl. acidity(TA),and ph.A total.of 133 mQTl.were detected above the establ.shed threshol.s for 44 *** 12.9%of QTl.were detected in the 2 years,suggesting a l.rge environmental.infl.ence on primary metabol.te *** objective of this study was the identification of key metabol.tes that were associated to the overal. variation in SSC and *** it was observed in previous studies,a number of QTl.control.ing several.metabol.tes and traits were co-l.cated in homoeol.gy group V(HG V).mQTl.control.ing a l.rge variance in raffinose,sucrose,succinic acid,and l.AA were detected in approximate the same chromosomal.regions of different homoeol.gous l.nkage groups bel.nging to HG *** genes for sel.cted mQTl.are proposed based on their co-l.cal.zation,on the predicted function,and their differential.gene expression among contrasting F1 progeny ***-seq anal.sis from progeny l.nes contrasting in l.AA content detected 826 differential.y expressed genes and identified Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase,FaM6PI1,as a candidate gene contributing to natural.variation in ascorbic acid in strawberry fruit.
