Opt.mal Design of Hybrid Microgrid in Isolat.d Communit.es of Ecuador

In rural t.rrit.ries, t.e communit.es use energy sources based on fossil fuels t. supply t.emselves wit. elect.icit., which may address t.o main problems: greenhouse gas emissions and high fuel prices. Hence, t.ere is an opport.nit. t. include renewable resources in t.e energy mix. t.is paper develops an opt.mizat.on model t. det.rmine t.e opt.mal sizing, t.e t.t.l annual invest.ent.cost.in renewable generat.on, and ot.er operat.ng cost. of t.e component. of a hybrid microgrid. By running a k-means clust.ring algorit.m on a met.orological dat.set.of t.e communit. under st.dy, t.e hourly represent.t.ve values become input.paramet.rs in t.e proposed opt.mizat.on model. t.e met.od for t.e opt.mal design of hybrid microgrid is analyzed in six operat.ng scenarios considering:(1) 24-hour cont.nuous power supply;(2) load shedding percent.ge;(3) diesel power generat.r(genset. curt.ilment.(4) t.e worst.met.orological condit.ons;(5) t.e use of renewable energy sources including bat.ery energy st.rage syst.ms(BESSs);and(6) t.e use of genset. A mat.emat.cal programming language(AMPL) t.ol is used t. find solut.ons of t.e proposed opt.mizat.on model. Result. show t.at.t.e t.t.l cost. of microgrid in t.e scenarios t.at.cover 100% of t.e load demand(wit.out.considering t.e scenario wit. 100% renewables) increase by over 16% compared wit. t.e scenario wit. genset.operat.on limit.t.on. For t.e designs wit. power supply rest.ict.ons, t.e t.t.l cost.of microgrid in t.e scenario wit. load shedding is reduced by over 27% compared wit. t.at.wit.out.load shedding.

Met.od: t.is was an open label, analyst.blind, balanced, randomized, t.o-t.eat.ent. t.o-period, t.o-sequence, single oral dose, crossover, bioequivalence st.dy in healt.y, adult. human subject. under fast.ng condit.on. t.ent.-four (24) subject. were planned as per t.e prot.col and all subject. complet.d bot. periods of t.e st.dy. t.e concent.at.ons of Rosuvast.t.n in plasma were quant.t.t.d using a validat.d LC-MS/MS met.od of analysis and plasma levels were submit.ed for st.t.st.cal analysis. Connexin 43 (CX43) is one of t.e major component. of gap junct.ons, t.e st.uct.res responsible for t.e int.rcellular communicat.on and t.ansmission of t.e elect.ical impulse in t.e left.vent.icle. t.ere is limit.d informat.on on t.e hist.logical changes of CX43 wit. age and t.eir effect.on elect.ophysiology, especially in humans. Here, we analyzed left.vent.icular biopsies from living donors st.rt.ng at.midlife t. charact.rize age-relat.d CX43 remodeling. We assessed it. quant.t., degree of lat.ralizat.on, and spat.al het.rogeneit. t.get.er wit. fibrot.c deposit.on. We observed no significant.age-relat.d remodeling of CX43. Only spat.al het.rogeneit. increased slight.y wit. age, and t.is increase was bet.er explained by biological age t.an by chronological age. Import.nt.y, we found t.at.CX43 feat.res varied considerably among individuals in our populat.on wit. no relevant.relat.onship t. age or fibrosis cont.nt. in cont.ast.t. animal species. We used our experiment.l result. t. feed comput.t.onal models of human vent.icular elect.ophysiology and t. assess t.e effect. of int.rindividual differences in specific feat.res of CX43 and fibrosis on conduct.on velocit., act.on pot.nt.al durat.on, and arrhyt.mogenicit.. We found t.at.larger amount. of fibrosis were associat.d wit. t.e highest.arrhyt.mic risk, wit. t.is risk being increased when fibrosis deposit.on was combined wit. a reduct.on in CX43 amount.and/or wit. an increase in CX43 spat.al het.rogeneit.. t.ese mechanisms underlying high arrhyt.mic risk in some individuals were not.associat.d wit. age in our st.dy populat.on. In conclusion, our dat. rule out.CX43 remodeling as an age-relat.d arrhyt.mic subst.at. in t.e populat.on beyond midlife, but.highlight.it. pot.nt.al as a proarrhyt.mic fact.r at.t.e individual level, especially when combined wit. increased fibrosis.

Cardiovascular diseases are t.e main cause of morbidit. and mort.lit. in t.e world, and obesit. and t.e met.bolic syndrome are risk fact.rs for it. development. One of t.e t.erapies t. reduce cardiovascular risk is t.e use of polyunsat.rat.d fat.y acids. In Brazil, a source of such acid is t.e oil ext.act.d from t.e fat.of t.e capybara. t.e object.ve of t.is work is t. st.dy t.e effect. of t.e capybara oil on lipid and glucose met.bolism, as well as it. effect. on t.e adipose t.ssue and cardiac remodeling. We assessed t.e effect. of capybara oil t.eat.ent.on body mass, lipid and carbohydrat. met.bolism, syst.lic blood pressure, adipose t.ssue and cardiac remodeling, and performed an ult.ast.uct.ral evaluat.on of t.e myocardium in C57Bl/6 mice t.eat.d wit. high-fat.diet. t.eat.ent.wit. capybara oil reduced t.t.l cholest.rol and t.iglyceride levels, syst.lic blood pressure, visceral and subcut.neous adipose t.ssue, and adipocyt. diamet.r. In addit.on, cardiac remodeling was at.enuat.d, preserving cardiomyocyt.s, increasing vascularizat.on, reducing cardiomyocyt. hypert.ophy and t.e ext.acellular mat.ix, and preserving t.e morphological int.grit. of mit.chondria. Capybara oil has several beneficial effect. on t.e cardiovascular and met.bolic syst.m, and furt.er st.dies are needed t. bet.er underst.nd it. role in t.e prevent.on or t.eat.ent.of cardiovascular diseases.

t.ere is considerable concern about.t.e pot.nt.al impact.of climat. change on agricult.re, such as t.e accumulat.on of chilling hours needed t. break t.e dormancy of many perennial plant., like fruit.t.ees. t.erefore, t.is st.dy aimed t. det.rmine if t.ere had been a significant.change in air t.mperat.res and chill hours, chill unit., and chill port.on accumulat.on in Sout. Carolina over t.e last.t.o decades. t.o decades of daily maximum (t.sub>max) and minimum (t.sub>min) air t.mperat.re records were obt.ined from weat.er st.t.ons in t.irt.-one count.es in Sout. Carolina. Hourly t.mperat.re dat., reconst.uct.d from t.e daily dat., were used t. calculat. t.e daily and annual chill hours, chill unit., and chill port.ons accumulat.on using four different.chill models for each locat.on and year. t.e chill models included t.e t.t. °C model, t.e 0°C °C model, t.e Ut.h model, and t.e Dynamic model. For each count., regression analyses were conduct.d t. evaluat. t.e hist.rical t.ends. Despit. year-t.-year variabilit., t.e t.ndency was a st.t.st.cally significant.(α = 0.05) increase in air t.mperat.re, averaging 0.089°C per year for 20 out.of 31 count.es in Sout. Carolina. t.e ot.er 11 count.es had no significant.change in t.mperat.re. t.e average t.mperat.re increase in t.e 31 count.es was 0.072°C per year. t.e t.mperat.re increase result.d in a decrease in annual chill accumulat.on during t.e fall t. spring, averaging 17.7 chill hours, 8.6 chill hours, 17.0 chill unit., and 0.40 chill port.ons per year calculat.d wit. t.e t.t. °C, 0°C °C, Ut.h, and Dynamic models, respect.vely. Mechanical circulat.ry and/or respirat.ry assist.nce wit. ext.acorporeal membrane oxygenat.on (ECMO) has become a st.ndard of care for pat.ent. wit. circulat.ry (venoart.rial) and/or respirat.ry (venovenous) failure refract.ry t. st.ndard t.erapies. Adult.pat.ent. wit. congenit.l heart.disease are an increasingly recognized and growing populat.on and include various groups, such as undiagnosed cases in childhood and palliat.d and/or correct.d cases, which require subsequent.care because of residual lesions, cardiac arrest.insufficiency, and arrhyt.mias, among ot.er condit.ons. In addit.on, t.ese pat.ent. are prone t. developing pat.ologies t.at.are t.pical of adult.ood wit. a generally increased risk of morbidit. and mort.lit. because of t.eir low reserves and organic damage associat.d wit. t.e underlying heart.disease, which makes t.em candidat.s for ECMO. t.ese pat.ent. represent.an addit.onal challenge in t.is t.erapy because malformat.ons and t.e presence of a shunt.can generally affect.t.e usual cannulat.on met.ods and hemodynamic and oximet.y monit.ring. t.us, t.e configurat.on decision must.be made on a case-by-case basis. Here, we present.a cannulat.on met.od, venopulmonary art.ry ECMO, which provides hemodynamic and respirat.ry support. and may be ideal for pat.ent. wit. shunt. and/or right.vent.icular dysfunct.on. t. our knowledge, t.is is t.e first.report.of t.is configurat.on in pat.ent. wit. congenit.l heart.diseases.
