The domestic cat has been used as a model to carry out comparative research in assisted reproduction, to be applied in wild cats. The efficiency in domestic cat IVM concerning the reproductive status and/or cultivation times has previously been investigated;however, the studies were carried out separately. The objective of this research was to evaluate the maturation of oocytes of domestic cats of different reproductive stages using two different in vitro culture times. The ovaries were obtained by Ooforo-Salpingo-Hysterectomy of cats that were of the following groups: 1) prepubertal, 2) follicular, 3) pregnant or 4) in anestrus. Maturation was carried out with TCM199 medium supplemented with BSA for 24 h and 48 h. On average, 29 ± 25, 20 ± 15, 17 ± 9 and 17 ± 13 oocytes/cat were recovered from the prepubertal follicular, pregnant, and anestrus stages, respectively, but did not show a significant difference (P > 0.05). Also, meiotic maturation did not show a significant difference between the different reproductive stages at 24 h and 48 h, respectively (P > 0.05). However, in the prepubertal and follicular stages, greater oocyte maturation numbers were observed at 48 h compared to 24 h (P result was not observed in the pregnant and anestrus stages (P > 0.05), indicating that the in vitro culture duration is an important factor during in vitro maturation of domestic cat oocytes.

melatonin, the pineal gland hormone, has been considered as a central hypotension factor. However their roles in the regulation of the human blood pressure and its possible use as antihyper-tensive drug have not been fully determined. The objective of this trial was to determine the effect of melatonin on blood pressure morning increase and a peripheral vasoconstriction challenge in healthy volunteers. Twelve healthy male volunteers were included in a prospective, comparative, randomized, crossover trial in which changes on blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) after the first morning orthostatism and endovenous norepinephrine (NE) infusion were measured one hour after the administration of placebo (PL) or 10 mg of melatonin in double blind conditions. melatonin blunted the effects of the first orthostatism on BP and HR. melatonin also reduces the pressor effect of NA. One concludes that melatonin has central and peripheral hypotensive effects that support a potential role of this hormone in cardiovascular therapeutics.

Artemia is deficient in polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs),particularly in arachidonic(ARA,20:4n-6),eicosapentaenoic(EPA,20:5n-3),and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA,22:6n-3).The aim of this study was to determine the optimal time in which the higher contents of PUFAs in juveniles of Artemia franciscana were obtained by the effect of enrichment with the tuna orbital oil *** enrichment periods were evaluated:3,6,9,12,15 and 18 h,in addition to a control treatment(0 h).The most abundant fatty acids in *** were monounsaturated(43.10%±4.35–52.92%±5.82%),followed by saturated(33.83%±1.71–42.33%±2.31%)and PUFAs(8.86%±2.83%–21.32%±2.38%).ARA decreased over the enrichment time;the maximum content was 5.74±0.37%at 3 h,which was not statistically different with respect to the content recorded at 0 *** highest content of EPA was at 3 h(6.47%±1.44%),without significant differences with the content registered at 0 h,while that from 6 h and until 15 h tended to decrease *** 6 h,the content of DHA(8.84%±2.72%)was significantly higher compared to the rest of the treatments,which did not differ among themselves,or with the *** to the 6 h and until 15 h,the content of PUFAs tended to decrease,which could indicate the metabolization of them by ***,coupled with the possible oxidation of these fatty acids in the enrichment solution.

We propose the use of a power pulse shape of the widely known optical soliton, corresponding to the hyperbolic secant square function, for both conventional atmospheric optical communication systems and, especially, for new full-optical wireless communications. We analyze the performance of the proposed pulse in terms of peak-to-average optical power ratio （PAOPR） and bit error rate （BER）. During the analysis, we compare the proposed pulse shape against conventional rectangular and Gaussian pulse shapes with reduced duty cycle. Results show the noticeable superiority of the proposed pulse for atmospheric optical links.

Iron is an essential micronutrient, as it is required for adequate erythropoietic function, oxidative metabolism and cellular immune responses. Although the absorption of dietary iron (1-2 mg/d) is regulated tightly, it is just balanced with losses. Therefore, internal turnover of iron is essential to meet the requirements for erythropoiesis (20-30 mg/d). Increased iron requirements, limited external supply, and increased blood loss may lead to iron deficiency (ID) and iron-deficiency anemia. Hepcidin, which is m.de primarily in hepatocytes in response to liver iron levels, inflammation, hypoxia and anemia, is the main iron regulatory hormone. Once secreted into the circulation, hepcidin binds ferroportin on enterocytes and macrophages, which triggers its internalization and lysosomal degradation. Thus, in chronic inflammation, the excess of hepcidin decreases iron absorption and prevents iron recycling, which results in hypoferremia and iron-restricted erythropoiesis, despite normal iron stores (functional ID), and anemia of chronic disease (ACD), which can evolve to ACD plus true ID (ACD + ID). In contrast, low hepcidin expression may lead to iron overload, and vice versa. Laboratory tests provide evidence of iron depletion in the body, or reflect iron-deficient red cell production. The appropriate combination of these laboratory tests help to establish a correct diagnosis of ID status and anemia.

mango(mangifera indica L.,Anacardiaceae),the fifth most consumed fruit worldwide,is one of the most important fruit crops in tropical regions,but its vascular anatomy is quite *** studies examined the xylem structure in the stems of mango,but the anatomy of the phloem has remained elusive,leaving the long-distance transport of photoassimilates *** combined fluorescence and electron microscopy to evaluate the structure of the phloem tissue in the tapering branches of mango trees,and used this information to describe the hydraulic conductivity of its sieve tube elements following current m.dels of fluid transport in *** revealed that the anatomy of the phloem changes from current year branches,where it was protected by pericyclic fibres,to older ones,where the lack of fibres was concomitant with laticiferous canals embedded in the phloem *** was present in the sieve plates,but also in the walls of the phloem sieve cells,making them discernible from other phloem cells.A scaling geometry of the sieve tube elements-including the number of sieve areas and the pore size across tapering branches-resulted in an exponential conductivity towards the base of the *** evaluations in mangofit with previous measurements of the phloem architecture in the stems of forest trees,suggesting that,despite agronomic management,the phloem sieve cells scale with the tapering *** pipe m.del theory applied to the continuous tubing system of the phloem appears as a good approach to understand the hydraulic transport of photoassimilates in fruit trees.

The possibility of using a nodal method allowing irregular distribution of nodes in a natural way is one of the main advantages of the generalized finite difference method (GFDm) with regard to the classical finite difference method. moreover, this feature has m.de it one of the most-promising meshless methods because it also allows us to reduce the time-consuming task of mesh generation and the numerical solution of integrals. This characteristic allows us to shape geological features easily whilst maintaining accuracy in the results, which can be a source of great interest when dealing with this kind of problems. Two widespread geophysical investigation methods in civil engineering are the cross-hole method and the seismic refraction method. This paper shows the use of the GFDm to m.del the aforementioned geophysical investigation tests showing precision in the obtained results when comparing them with experimental data.

For a point charge between two grounded conductor planes forming a 60° angle, the potential and electric field generated by point charge for Yukawa’s potential (e-m>μrm>/m>rm>) and Coulomb’s potential (1/m>rm>) are m.deled and simulated.
