The need for renewable energy sources makes microalgae an essential feedstock for biofuels *** molecular aspects and the response to nitrogen(N)-limited conditions with a phytohormone stimulus in microalgae have been slightly *** this work,Scenedesmus obliquus was used as a study model to analyze the effect of benzyl amino purine(BAP)and gibberellic acid(GA)coupled to nitrogen limitation on cell growth,biomass and fatty *** selected 10^(-5)M BAP increased the biomass by 1.44-fold,and 10^(-6)M GA by *** total lipids also increased by 2.8 and 1.11-fold,*** 10^(-5)M BAP and 10^(-6)M GA addition to *** cultures at different initial nitrogen percentages(N-0,N-25,and N-50)showed a significant increase in cell growth and biomass productivity compared to the unstimulated *** N-0 and GA N-0 produced the highest lipid yields with 55%and 50%,*** lipid profile analysis revealed an increase,particularly in C18:1 and C16:0 fatty *** expression analysis showed an over-expression of acyl carrying protein(ACP),stearoyl-ACP desaturase(SAD),fatty acid acyl-ACP thioesterase(FATA),and diacylglycerol acyltransferase(DGAT)genes,which were mainly induced by nitrogen ***,BAP and GA produced a significant over-expression on these genes in the N-replete *** study shows that BAP and GA,coupled to N limitation stress,can be used to increase the biomass and lipid production in *** for sustainable biofuels.

Agave guiengola Gentry is an endemic plant from a very small locality in Oaxaca,*** conservation status is fragile and can rapidly *** of its scarcity,this agave has been used solely for ornamental purposes,but it could have other uses if more plants were *** vitro propagation by enhanced axillary sprouting from stem segments was attained using Murashige and Skoog Basal Medium(MS)as well as basal medium supplemented with cytokinins 6-Benzylaminopurine(BA)or 6-(γ,γ-Dimethylallylamino)purine(2iP).The best treatment for shoot induction in semisolid medium consisted in MS supplemented with 2 mg l^(–1) BA,obtaining a mean of 3.7 shoots per *** interesting responses were observed,such as nodular callus induction using combinations of BA and 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D);root induction without Plant Growth Regulators(PGR);and generation of shoot *** clusters constituted an excellent explant for micropropagation in temporary immersion bioreactors,obtaining a propagation rate of 43 shoots per explant with 1 min immersion and 6 h immersion *** new plants rooted and survived the transfer to *** study developed an in vitro propagation scheme to produce individuals that can be used either for reforestation,economical purposes,or to carry out studies in this species to assess its full potential,avoiding exploitation from wild plants.

Effects of organic chromium supplementation to finishing lambs diet on growth performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality

The objective of this study was to evaluate supplemental organic chromium（Cr） to finishing lambs on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and meat quality. Eighteen Suffolk lambs（age（4.5±0.2） mon;（25.8±3.6） kg body weight（BW）） were randomly assigned to three levels of supplemental organic Cr（0.0, 0.2 and 0.4 mg kg^–1 dry matter（DM）） in a complete random design. Growth performance was evaluated for 70 d, and then lambs were slaughtered to study carcass characteristics and chemical composition of meat. Orthogonal contrasts were performed（contrast one-average level 0.2 ppm Cr vs. average level 0.4 ppm Cr; contrast two-level 0 vs. average levels（0.2＋0.4） ppm Cr）. Orthogonal polynomials were used to estimate the linear and quadratic effects of Cr concentrations. Growth and carcass performance were not affected by supplemental organic Cr. Muscle conformation and leg perimeter linearly increased（P〈0.05） as organic Cr level increased in the diet. Kidney fat decreased linearly（P〈0.05） as supplemental Cr increased. In Longissimus dorsi（LD）, the ash content decreased linearly, and shear force（kg cm^–2） increased（P〈0.05） as organic Cr level increased in the diet. It is concluded that organic Cr did not affect growth performance, but it improved positively the muscle conformation, reduced kidney fat, whereas in LD there was an increment in shear force in finishing carcass lambs.

NDT-Suite: A Methodological Tool Solution in the Model-Driven Engineering Paradigm

Although the Model-Driven paradigm is being accepted in the research environment as a very useful and powerful option for effective software development, its real application in the enterprise context is still a challenge for software engineering. Several causes can be stacked out, but one of them can be the lack of tool support for the efficient application of this paradigm. This paper presents a set of tools, grouped in a suite named NDT-Suite, which under the Model-Driven paradigm offer a suitable solution for software development. These tools explore different options that this paradigm can improve such as, development, quality assurance or requirement treatment. Besides, this paper analyses how they are being successfully applied in the industry.

Several aquifers located in North-Central Mexico have natural arsenic(As)concentrations higher than those allowed by national and international regulations;these aquifers are usually located in fractured volcanic environments that interact with sedimentary basins and have a carbonate *** this study,an evaluation of As in volcanic and sedimentary rocks collected at 13 sampling sites along the Sierra de Codornices(Guanajuato State,Central Mexico)was carried *** geologic materials are representative of the dominant hydrogeologic *** As content is disseminated in volcanic rocks and the highest contents were obtained in felsic rocks;this information served to identify the hydrogeochemical processes related to the mobilization and transport of arsenic in the *** mobilization of As is a product of the dissolution of volcanic glass,a process involved in the alkaline desorption that occurs on As-containing mineral surfaces and possibly by the dissolution/desorption of Fe minerals and some clays,all these processes may be accelerated by the geothermal characteristics of the groundwater in the study area.

Objective To assess the prognostic impact of a routine invasive strategy according to the frailty burden in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(NSTEMI)from the MOSCA-FRAIL clinical *** The MOSCA-FRAIL trial randomized 167 frail patients,defined by a Clinical Frailty Scale(CFS)≥4,with NSTEMI to an invasive or conservative *** primary endpoint was the number of days alive and out of hospital(DAOH)one year after *** this subanalysis,we compared the impact of an invasive strategy on the outcomes between vulnerable(CFS=4,n=43)and frail(CFS>4,n=124)*** Compared to vulnerable patients,frail patients presented lower values of DAOH(289.8 vs.320.6,P=0.146),more read-missions(1.03 vs.0.58,P=0.046)and higher number of days spent at the hospital during the first year(10.8 vs.3.8,P=0.014).The cau-ses of readmission were mostly non-cardiac(56%).Among vulnerable patients,DAOH were similar regardless of strategy(invasive ***:325.7 vs.314.7,P=0.684).Among frailest patients,the invasive group tended to have less DAOH(267.7 vs.311.1,P=0.117).Indeed,patients with CFS>4,invasively managed lived 29 days less than their conservative *** contrast,the-re were no differences in the subgroup with CFS=*** Adult patients with frailty and NSTEMI showed different prognosis according to the degree of frailty.A routine in-vasive strategy does not improve outcomes and might be harmful to the frailest patients.

It is increasingly common to find alarming news related to tragic events occurring in schools around the *** able to deal with these situations without getting hurt is a task not suitable for *** general,teachers are the ones who must deal with this type of situation in addition to other daily problems that appear in any classroom that make the level of stress to which they are subjected can become *** research aims to know the current situation of teachers in a region of southeastern Spain in terms of their level of work stress,resilience,and other associated variables,for which an ex post facto quantitative approach study was *** this purpose,an ad hoc sociodemographic questionnaire,and questions based on the Teaching and Learning International Survey of the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development,the Maslach Burnout Inventory,and the Brief Resilient Coping Scale were *** participating sample consisted of 470 *** main findings were that 6%of teachers had burnout(high emotional exhaustion,high cynicism,and low professional effectiveness simultaneously).Resilience correlated inversely with stress,emotional exhaustion,cynicism,excessive teaching,and difficulty maintaining classroom *** conclusion,knowing the needs of teachers allows us to reflect on what kind of prevention and intervention programs are necessary to improve the well-being of teachers and thus improve the quality of education.

Xenobiotic-Metabolizing Enzymes in Skeletal Muscle of Children and Adolescents

Cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes metabolize endogenous compounds such as steroid hormones, fatty acids, and xenobiotics, including drugs and carcinogens. The skeletal muscle is highly exposed to circulating xenobiotics;nevertheless the knowledge on the expression of these enzymes not only in adult skeletal muscle but also in younger individuals has been very little. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the expression of CYP enzymes in healthy skeletal muscles of children and adolescents. This was investigated in a total of 18 biopsies taken from the quadriceps skeletal muscle of younger patients: 9 boys and 9 girls (≤18 years) by using specific antibodies in immunoblots and by RT-PCR mRNA analysis. The mRNA transcripts for CYP1B1 and CYP2E1 were consistently detected in all samples, but in the immunoblot only was identified CYP1B1 protein in four samples. Regarding CYP1A1, CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 enzymes in skeletal muscle, there were found in some samples in both techniques, although with significant inter-individual variations. Finally CYP2W1 only was detected in one sample belonging to the youngest patient. These data show that a range of CYP enzymes are expressed in the skeletal muscle of children and adolescents, suggesting that the metabolism of several xenobiotic chemicals to which humans are exposed takes place in muscle cells. Moreover, since the potential participation of muscles is a fact in pharmacokinetics of many therapeutic drugs, expression of CYPs in skeletal muscle may play an important role in drug-dependent toxicity.

In systems in atomic and nano scales such as clusters or agglomerates constituted of particles from a few to less than one hundred of atoms, quantum confinement effects are very important. Their optical and electronic properties are often dependent on the size of the systems and the way in which the atoms in these clusters are bonded. Generally, these nano-structures display optical and electronic properties significantly different of those found in corresponding bulk materials. Silicon agglomerates found in Silicon Rich Oxide (SRO) films have optical properties, which have reported as depended directly on nano-crystal size. Furthermore, the room temperature photoluminescence (PL) of Silicon Rich Oxides (SRO) has repeatedly generated a huge interest due to their possible applications in optoelectronic devices. However, a plausible emission mechanism has not yet widespread acceptance of the scientific community. In this research, we employed the Density Functional Theory with a functional B3LYP and a basis set 6 - 31G* to calculate the optical and electronic properties of small (six to ten silicon atoms) and medium size clusters of silicon (constituted of eleven to fourteen silicon atoms). With the theoretical calculation of the structural and optical properties of silicon clusters, it is possible to evaluate the contribution of silicon agglomerates in the luminescent emission mechanism experimentally found in thin SRO films.
