On directed Barab´asi-Albert networks with two and seven neighbours selected by each added site,the Ising model with spin S=1/2 was seen not to show a spontaneous ***,the decay time for flipping of the magnetisation followed an Arrhenius law for Metropolis and Glauber algorithms,but for Wolff cluster flipping the magnetisation decayed exponentially with ***,on these networks the Ising model spin S=1 was seen to show a spontaneous *** this case,a first-order phase transition for values of connectivity z=2 and z=7 is well *** these same networks the Potts model with q=3 and 8 states is now studied through Monte Carlo *** also obtained for q=3 and 8 states a first-order phase transition for values of connectivity z=2 and z=7 for the directed Barab´asi-Albert *** results are different from the results obtained for the same model on two-dimensional lattices,where for q=3 the phase transition is of second order,while for q=8 the phase transition is of first-order.

Attention must be in identifying and managing watershed landscapes because of the importance of preserving natural resources. Therefore, this manuscript identifies and maps the coastal area of the Pacoti River Watershed. The methods were the analysis of landscape maps from Ceará research agencies and fieldwork to verify the information. The conclusion is that using technology has become a decisive and effective factor when identifying and analyzing physical characteristics in geomorphologic compartments in the Pacoti River Watershed.

AIM: To investigate the effects of mitomycin (MMC)combined with sulindac on cell viability, apoptotic induction and expression of apoptosis-related gene Bcl-2 and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)in gastric cancer ***: Human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells were divided into three treatment groups,namely sulindac treatment group, MMC treatment group and combined sulindac with MMC treatment group. After being treated with drugs, cell viability was examined by MTr *** cytometry was used to evaluate the cell cycle distribution and apoptotic rates. Morphology of the cells was observed under light microscope and interactive laser microscope. Expression of COX-2 and Bcl-2 was determined by immunocytochemical ***: After exposure for 12 h to three kinds of drugs,gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells presented some morphological features of apoptosis, including cell shrinkage, nuclear condensation, DNA fragmentation and formation of apoptotic bodies. Growth inhibition was more obvious in combined sulindac with MMC treatment group and sulindac treatment group than in MMC treatment group. The apoptotic rates in co-treated cells and MMC-treated cells 24 h after treatment were 12.0% and 7.2%, *** exposure for 24 h to MMC, the expression of COX-2and Bcl-2 protein was up-regulated, COX-2 levels were down-regulated but Bcl-2 gene expression was not changed significantly in combined treatment ***: MMC-induced apoptosis is reduced by up-regulating the expression of COX-2 and Bcl-2 *** combined with sulindac can suppress the growth of gastric cancer cells through induction of apoptosis mediated by down-regulation of apoptosis-related Bcl-2and COX-2 gene.

Coptotermes gestroi and Heterotermes tenuis have been described as important urban pests in Brazil. The establishment of control technologies using baits that consider the social behavior of termites requires a better knowledge of their foraging behavior. Thus, this study analyzed the feeding behavior of these species with three different forms of food placement： food on the surface of a substrate and food either partially or completely buried in the substrate. Experimental arenas were composed of a central chamber connected to three food chambers. Each central chamber contained 550 foragers of C. gestroi or 517 foragers of 11. tenuis. Blocks of Pinus elliottii were placed in the different food chambers. After 28 days, the consumption of each wood block and the percentage of foraging individuals recruited for food chambers were verified in relation to the total survival rate obtained for each one of the 20 replicates. Results showed that completely buried food was most consumed for H. tenuis and presented a higher recruitment rate of workers and soldiers for both species. Although the consumption had non-significant differences for C. gestroi, these termites exhibited a tendency to prefer completely buried food. In these conditions, it can be concluded that the forms of food placement used in the present research influenced the recruitment of individuals for both species. Data also suggests that when the foraging subterranean termites find food resources in the tunneling substrate, they tend to concentrate their efforts on it, a behavior regime that reduces exposure to external environment.

The fluid dynamics behavior of shallow fluidized and vibrofluidized beds operating with fresh leaves was investigated with the aim of exploring drying applications in a modified conveyor belt （MCB） system, which may be operated in a fixed- or fluidized-bed mode. Leaves of the specimens Duranta repens, Schinus molle, Coleus barbatus, Buxus sempervirens, and Bougainvillea spectabilis were tested with a range of sphericities from 0.063 to 0.213, bulk densities from 0.038 to 0.251 g/cm3, apparent densities from 0.52 to 0.97 g/cm3 and ratios of total surface area to volume from 21 to 224 cm-1. Fluidization characteristic curves were obtained by measuring pressure drops versus air velocity in a rectangular column of 0.20 m - 0.11 m cross section. It was not possible to reach real fluidized regimes with the leaves due to strongly non-homogeneous beds. Nevertheless, the characteristic curves allowed for the identification of a transition regime from fixed- to expanded-beds, and parameters such as air velocity and pressure drop obtained from the experimental data at the transition were reproducible for specimens with lower surface area or lower specific gravity （i.e., Duranta repens, Schinus molle, and Bougainvillea spectabilis）. The transition velocity and pressure drop could not be predicted by the literature developed for estimat- ing minimum fluidization conditions. The use of vibration at dimensionless vibration parameters （Γ） of 0.5 and 1.0 helped to reduce channeling and decrease the transition velocities from fixed to expanded regimes although it did not affect the pressure drops after the bed expansion. The results suggest that drying fresh leaves using the MCB dryer operating in a fluidized mode would not be feasible because none of the materials investigated attained a high-quality fluidization. In this paper,we address the long-term generation and transmission expansion planning for power systems of regions with very high solar *** target the power systems that currently rely mainly on thermal generators and that aim to adopt high shares of renewable *** propose a stochastic programming model with expansion alternatives including transmission lines,solar power plants(photovoltaic and concentrated solar),wind farms,energy storage,and flexible combined cycle gas *** model represents the longterm uncertainty to characterize the demand growth,and the short-term uncertainty to characterize daily solar,wind,and demand *** use the Saudi Arabian power system to illustrate the functioning of the proposed model for several cases with different renewable integration *** results show that a strong dependence on solar power for high shares of renewable sources requires high generation capacity and storage to meet the night demand.
