The paper describes an approach to teaching mutually-coupled circuits CAD techniques to undergraduate students pursuing a degree course in electrical engineering or physics, and explains how a series of simulated experiments may be incorporated into the existing subjects. The simulated experiments make use of a two-dimensional open-access software based on the finite-element method. At the laboratory meetings, the students learn how to set up field problems for solution, and how to examine the results. Simulation tasks based on three axisymmetric open-boundary problems are used to introduce different numeric techniques to compute inductance and magnetic forces. The paper takes the reader to a step-by-step simulation journey, and provides all the basic elements required for further exploration of axially-symmetric systems.

The greater use of crop fields by increasing plant population is an alternative to minimize losses to the farmers who use crop intercropped provides other benefits such as lower incidence of diseases and pests, and better exploitation and enrichment agroecosystem. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the population of peanuts with and without inoculation and intercropping with forage palm on growth, productivity and biomass peanut. The treatments consisted of different populations of peanut (one, two and three rows of peanut row spacing of two meters of cactus pear), with and without inoculant, analyzed in subdivided plot scheme (3 × 2), totalizing six treatments in a randomized block design with four replications. The variables evaluated were plant height, number of branches, shoot dry mass and root nodule number, nodule dry weight, biomass productivity and legumes. The largest population of plants in number of lines of peanut intercropped with forage cactus promotes greater total biomass production and yield of beans and does not alter the height, branch number, dry mass of aerial part roots and nodules. The inoculant application did not result in to increased productivity biomass and growth of peanut plants, their use is not indicated. The planting of a row of peanuts between the rows of palm is not economically recommended.

A puff model for the dispersion of material from fugitive hazardous emissions is presented. For vertical diffusion the model is based on general techniques for solving time dependent advection-diffusion equation: the ADMM (Advection Diffusion Multilayer Method) and GILTT (Generalized Integral Laplace Transform Technique) techniques. Both approaches accept wind and eddy diffusion coefficients with any restriction in their height functions. Comparisons between values predicted by the models against experimental ground-level concentrations (from Copenhagen data set) are shown. The preliminary results confirm the applicability of the approaches proposed and are promising for future work.

Successful double fertilization and subsequent seed development in flowering plants requires the delivery of two sperm cells, transported by a pollen tube, into the embryo sac of an ovule. The embryo sac cells tightly control synergid cell death, and as a result the polyspermy block. Arabinogalactan proteins are highly glycosylated proteins thought to be involved in several steps of the reproductive process. We show that JAGGER, Arabinogalactan Protein 4, is an important molecule necessary to prevent the growth of multiple pollen tubes into one embryo sac in Arabidopsis thaliana. In jagger, an AGP4 knockout mutant, the pistils show impaired pollen tube blockage as a consequence of the survival of the persistent synergid. JAGGER seems to be involved in the signaling pathway that leads to a blockage of pollen tube attraction. Our results shed light on the mechanism responsible for preventing polyspermy in Arabidopsis and for safe- guarding successful fertilization of all ovules in one pistil, ensuring seed set and the next generation.

In scenarios of climatic change when increased global temperatures can be expected,it is essential to search for technologies that favor sapling survival and growth after planting and increase yield in the ***-based particle films(KBPF)have been applied as barriers against the deleterious effects of high levels of solar *** objective of the present study was to assess the effects of applying purified calcined kaolin-based particle film to young eucalyptus *** treatments were carried out:0%(just water),3%,5%,7%,and 10%calcined kaolin applied to the adaxial part of the leaves.A complete randomized block design was used with five treatments and ten *** plants were assessed for height,diameter at ground level,gas exchanges(net photosynthetic CO_(2) assimilation,stomatal conductance and transpiration),instantaneous(WUE)and intrinsic water use efficiency(IWUE),chlorophyll a fluorescence(maximum quantum yield of photosystem II(PSII)(Fv/Fm),concentration of active reaction centers in relation to the quantity of photons absorbed(RC/ABS)and the maximum ratio of quantum yields of photochemical and concurrent non-photochemical processes in PSII(Fv/F0),SPAD reading and leaf *** 3%KBPF concentration showed the best responses in biometric assessments 80 days after planting(daP)and were corroborated by the responses of the leaf,stem and shoot dry matter production as a *** leaf ontogeny assessments showed positive responses following KBPF application when considering leaf development,with 7%KBPF concentration resulting in the highest mean *** mean specific leaf mass had negative response to high KBPF *** 60 daP,the gas exchange variables during both assessment periods declined with an increase in KBPF *** differences as a result of KBPF applications were found only at the start of the assessments(34 daP)for both WUE and for ***‘greenness’(SPAD reading)at 47 days showed a quadratic

Protein adsorption on biomaterials for bone substitution,such as calcium phosphates(CaP),evokes biological responses and shapes the interactions of biomaterials with the surrounding biological *** adsorb when CaP materials are combined with growth factor-rich hemoderivatives prior to implantation to achieve enhanced angiogenesis and stimulate new bone ***,the identification of the adsorbed proteins and their angiogenic effect on bone homeostasis remain incompletely *** this study,we analyzed the adsorbed complex protein composition on CaP surfaces when using the hemoderivatives plasma,platelet lysate in plasma(PL),and washed platelet lysate proteins(wPL).We detected highly abundant,non-regenerative proteins and anti-angiogenic proteins adsorbed on CaP surfaces after incubation with PL and wPL by liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry(LC–MS)***,we measured a decreased amount of adsorbed pro-angiogenic growth *** formation assays with human umbilical endothelial cells demonstrated that the CaP surfaces only stimulate an angiogenic response when kept in the hemoderivative medium but not after washing with *** results highlight the necessity to correlate biomaterial surfaces with complex adsorbed protein compositions to tailor the biomaterial surface toward an enrichment of pro-angiogenic factors.

The health benefits and sensing applications of curcumin-based systems depend on their prevailing photophysical and chemi-cal properties at a specific environment-the characteristic low solubility of curcumin in water hinders high-dosage based *** circumvent this drawback,curcumin has been incorporated in hydrophobic environments in ***,electrospun fibers of Eudragit L100 were loaded with curcumin and applied in fluorescence and antibacterial assays to evaluate prevailing physical and chemical properties in *** characteristic high loading degree of curcumin(250 mg/mL in Eudragit L100 solution)preserves not only the photophysical properties of molecules(such as the intrinsic fluorescence)but also the antibacterial activity of released molecules from electrospun fibers,characterizing an important strategy for improvement in the applicability potential of natural materials.
