A sedentary lifestyle and obesity are important risk factors for severe COvID-19 complications and death[1,2].Excessive adipose tissue(AT)might contribute to more extensive viral spread with increased shedding,immune activation,and cytokine amplification[3].several factors secreted by contracting muscle,termed myokines,mediate the beneficial effects of exercise in a wide range of diseases,including obesity[4].Thus,we conducted a study to explore the potential role of myokines of the fibronectin type III domain-containing family,FNDC4 and FNDC5,in mechanisms underlying the increased susceptibility to COvID-19 complications in obesity.

Objective: To evaluate the antimicrobial and antifungal activities of the aqueous and partitioned extract of sea anemone Anthopleura nigrescens(A. nigrescens).Methods: The sea anemone A. nigrescens was collected, minced, homogenized,lyophilized and then further partitioned with diethyl ether, acetone, ethanol and *** fractions were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against bacterial and fungal ***: Acetone extract was found to produce a pronounced inhibition of 7.0 mm against Proteus vulgaris and diethyl ether extract inhibited Pseudomonas aeruginosa with an inhibition zone of 6.5 mm. In antifungal activity, ethanol extract showed good activity against Botrytis cinerea, Trichoderma harzianum and Rhizopus oryzae compared with other strains. Acetone and ethanol extract of A. nigrescens showed activity against all of pathogens tested. slight activity was observed in the water extract with inhibition zone of 1.5 ***: The present study revealed that sea anemone A. nigrescens may also contain some biologically active agents which have potential activity against pathogenic microorganisms.

AIMTo analyze the diagnostic yield (DY), therapeutic impact (TI) and safety of capsule endoscopy (CE).METHODsThis is a multi-centre, observational, analytical, retrospective study. A total of 163 patients with suspicion of celiac disease (CD) (mean age = 46.4 ± 17.3 years, 68.1% women) who underwent CE from 2003 to 2015 were included. Patients were divided into four groups: seronegative CD with atrophy (Group-I, n = 19), seropositive CD without atrophy (Group-II, n = 39), contraindication to gastroscopy (Group-III, n = 6), seronegative CD without atrophy, but with a compatible context (Group-Iv, n = 99). DY, TI and the safety of CE were *** overall DY was 54% and the final diagnosis was villous atrophy (n = 65, 39.9%), complicated CD (n = 12, 7.4%) and other enteropathies (n = 11, 6.8%; 8 Crohn’s). DY for groups I to Iv was 73.7%, 69.2%, 50% and 44.4%, respectively. Atrophy was located in duodenum in 24 cases (36.9%), diffuse in 19 (29.2%), jejunal in 11 (16.9%), and patchy in 10 cases (15.4%). factors associated with a greater DY were positive serology (68.3% vs 49.2%, P = 0.034) and older age (P = 0.008). On the other hand, neither sex nor clinical presentation, family background, positive histology or HLA status were associated with DY. CE results changed the therapeutic approach in 71.8% of the cases. Atrophy was associated with a greater TI (92.3% vs 45.3%, P s responded to diet. There was one case of capsule retention (0.6%). Agreement between CE findings and subsequent histology was 100% for diagnosing normal/other conditions, 70% for suspected CD and 50% for complicated *** has a high DY in cases of suspicion of CD and it leads to changes in the clinical course of the disease. CE is safe procedure with a high degree of concordance with histology and it helps in the differential diagnosis of CD.

This contribution complements Forest Ecosystems＇ Thematic series on ＂Forest Observational studies＂. We provide essential clarification regarding the definition and purpose of long-term field studies, review some of the extensive literature and discuss different approaches to collecting field data. We also describe two newly established forest observational networks that serve to illustrate the scope and diversity of forest field studies. The first is a large-scale network of forest observational studies in prominent natural forest ecosystems in China. The second example demonstrates observational studies in mixed and uneven-aged pine-oak forests which are selectively managed by local communities in Mexico. We summarize the potential for analysing and modeling forest ecosystems within interdisciplinary projects and provide argumentation in favour of long-term institutional commitment to maintaining forest observational field studies.

AIM： To study the histological and pancreatitis-associated protein mRNA accumulation changes of pancreas from acute phase of caerulin-induced pancreatitis to recuperation in rats. METHODs： Acute pancreatitis was induced by caerulein in male Wistar rats and followed up for 90 d by histological and mRNA analyses of pancreas. Pancreases were dissected at 0, 9, 24 h and 3, 5, 15, 30, 60, 90 d post-induction. Edema （E）, polymorphonuclear neutrophU （pIvlN） infiltration, cytoplasmic vacuolization （v）, zymogen granule depletion （ZD） and acinar disorganization （AD） were microscopically evaluated. Accumulation of pancreatitis- associated protein （PAP） and L13A mRNAs were quantified by real-time PCR. REsULTs： The main histological changes appeared at 9 h post-induction for PMN infiltration and cytoplasmic v, while at 24 h and 3 d for E and ZD, respectively. All the parameters were recovered after 5 d, except for ZD which delayed more than 30 d. The main AD was observed after 15 d and values returned to normal after 30 d. similarly to histological changes, accumulation of the PAP mRNA was increased at 9 h with the highest accumulation at 24 h and differences disappeared after 5 d. CONCLUsION： From the acute phase to recuperation of pancreatitis, regeneration and re-differentiation of pan- creas occur and PAP expression is exclusively an acute response of pancreatitis.

Isoprenoids are a very large and diverse family of metabolites required by all living *** isoprenoids derive fromthe double-bond isomers isopentenyl diphosphate(IPP)and dimethylallyl diphosphate(DMAPP),which are produced by the methylerythritol 4-phosphate(MEP)pathway in bacteria and plant *** has been reported that IPP and DMAPP feedback-regulate the activity of deoxyxylulose 5-phosphate synthase(DXs),a dimeric enzyme that catalyzes the main flux-controlling step of the MEP *** we provide experimental insights *** titration calorimetry and dynamic light scattering approaches showed that IPP and DMAPP can allosterically bind to DXs in vitro,causing a size *** silico ligand binding site analysis and docking calculations identified a potential allosteric site in the contact region between the two monomers of the active DXs *** of IPP and DMAPP contents in vivo followed by immunoblot analyses confirmed that high IPP/DMAPP levels resulted in monomerization and eventual aggregation of the enzyme in bacterial and plant *** of the enzymatically active dimeric conformation allows a fast and reversible reduction of DXs activity in response to a sudden increase or decrease in IPP/DMAPP supply,whereas aggregation and subsequent removal of monomers that would otherwise be available for dimerization appears to be a more drastic response in the case of persistent IPP/DMAPP overabundance(e.g.,by a blockage in their conversion to downstream isoprenoids).Our results represent an important step toward understanding the regulation of the MEP pathway and rational design of biotechnological endeavors aimed at increasing isoprenoid contents in microbial and plant systems.

Upwelling coastal systems can be used to understand how dissolved oxygen and biological productivity control the accumulation of redox-sensitive metals in marine *** aluminium(Al),cadmium(Cd),iron(Fe),nickel(Ni),molybdenum(Mo),vanadium(v),total organic carbon(TOC),total nitrogen(TN)and total sulfur(Ts)contents in surficial sediment collected from different water depths(30,70,and 120 m)in three northern Chilean bays influenced by coastal upwelling and oxygen minimum zones(OMZs)were *** component analysis(PCA),cluster analysis,and spearman’s rank correlation were used to identify the mechanisms responsible for the redox-sensitive metal *** content of redox-sensitive metals and organic components in sediment increased with increasing water column depth,whereas lithogenic metals *** the Mejillones del sur and Caldera bays,the enrichment factors of the redox-sensitive metals showed enrichment for all metals with *** Cd and v enrichments are mainly the product of biogenic flow to the seabed,and the Mo and Ni enrichments are due to preservation under low subsurface oxygen *** reduction is not an important mechanism in the accumulation of redox-sensitive metals in the sediment of the three *** PCA showed that the behaviors of the redox-sensitive metals and organic components reflect differences in the effects of the OMZ in sediment along the coast of northern Chile,with a more intense OMZ in Mejillones del sur bay and weaker OMZs in Caldera and Inglesa ***,the high degree of enrichment in redox-sensitive metals in Caldera Bay can be attributed to the intense activity of the mining industry near the bay,a situation that produces geochemical behavior similar to that observed in Mejillones del sur Bay.
