Currently,conventional therapies in cancer are improving;chemotherapy,radiotherapy and surgery have increased survival significantly.New therapies have arisen with the same goal;immunotherapy has appeared as a promising option in the fight against cancer stimulating the immune system by inducing innate and adaptive responses.These responses include release of pro-inflammatory cytokines,making the immune system capable to eliminate or protect against multiple tumors.Nowadays,many of these therapies are being used in clinical settings,such as checkpoint inhibitors,monoclonal anti cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte associated protein 4(CTL-4)and programmed death protein 1(PD1),with inspiring results;however,they may decrease immunotolerance,limiting their use.At the same time,chemotherapy works by passive transport across the cell membrane,limiting its capacity to penetrate in tumor cells.For these reasons,bacteria employment represents one of the best candidates for cancer treatment.They can surpass these barriers with their selective colonization which also has an oncolytic effect by increasing proliferation and immunostimulation in the tumor environment.Attenuated strains,such as Mycobacterium bovis,Clostridium,Salmonella typhimirium and Listeria monocytogenes have been studied showing promising results in experimental models.However,their application in clinical trials has shown the need to maximize their therapeutic effect.Genetic engineering and synthetic biology are necessary to prove the scope that this novel approach has against cancer due to implications of cancer therapy and public health.

Clinical Characteristics in U19 Elite Soccer Players, Implications on Injury Prevention

Background: Young soccer players’injuries are receiving increased interest. The need of adopting injury prevention strategies to reduce financial, social and sport costs is obligated. The main purpose of this study is to analyse clinical characteristics of young soccer players in order to develop specific and effective injury prevention programs. Methods: This observational, transversal study includes 25 young soccer players from Spanish National League. Strength, motor control, flexibility and range of motion characteristics were analysed before the first preseason training. Results: Statistically significant differences were found for hip internal rotation (p value=0.001), Thomas test (p value =0.012) and ankle dorsiflexion test (p value=0.009) between both sides. Dorsiflexion test showed a positive correlation with the hip internal rotation ROM (p<0.016) and with the triple hop test (p<0.007). The hip internal rotation ROM showed a positive correlation with the Thomas test (p<0.033) and with the single leg squat test (p < 0.008). The drop jump test showed a positive correlation with the single leg squat test (p<0.039). Conclusions: Clinical characteristics shown in this study should be taken into account in order to develop specific injury prevention for this specific population. Moreover, data shown in this study can be used as norm values for young soccer semi-professional players in future researches.

Any Hamiltonian System Is Locally Equivalent to a Free Particle

In this work we use the Hamilton-Jacobi theory to show that locally all the Hamiltonian systems with n degrees of freedom are equivalent. That is, there is a canonical transformation connecting two arbitrary Hamiltonian systems with the same number of degrees of freedom. This result in particular implies that locally all the Hamiltonian systems are equivalent to that of a free particle. We illustrate our result with two particular examples;first we show that the one-dimensional free particle is locally equivalent to the one-dimensional harmonic oscillator and second that the two-dimensional free particle is locally equivalent to the two-dimensional Kepler problem.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been studied largely among adults and in the context of intentional, collective experiences such as war and terrorism. Far less is known about PTSD among adolescents and resulting from massive industrial accidents. Such an accident in Toulouse, France, 10 days after the World Trade Center disaster, provided an opportunity to examine its effects among adolescents already sensitized by media coverage of the World Trade Center disaster. Abstract: (1) To assess the presence of symptoms consistent with PTSD(SCW-PTSD) among adolescents in Toulouse after a massive industrial accident, (2) to determine the “ excess” of SCW-PTSD among those directly exposed vs those nondirectly exposed, and (3) to examine dosage effects for exposure and the cumulative effect on PTSD of accident-related experiences. Design, Setting, and Participants: A survey containing questions on exposure and SCW-PTSD was administered to students aged 11 years, 13 years, 15 years, and 17 years who were enrolled in randomly selected, grade-strati- fied classrooms from schools for directly exposed students (n=577) in Toulouse and nondirectly exposed students (n=900)- in the region. Main Outcome Measure: The prevalence of SCW-PTSD among directly exposed and nondirectly exposed students. Results: Nine months after the industrial accident, 44.6% of 11- and 13- year-old directly exposed students and 28.5% of 15- and 17- year-old directly exposed students still showed SCW-PTSD, compared with 22.1% of 11- and 13- year-old nondirectly exposed students and 4.4% of 15- year-old nondirectly exposed students. Among 11- and 13- year-olds, the likelihood of having SCW-PTSD was higher for girls who were enrolled in elementary schools, were personally injured, and had severe damage at home, as opposed to boys who were high-school students without severe damage at home or personal injury. 研究了石墨材料包括纳米石墨对基于硝酸盐陶瓷复合相变储热材料性能的影响。其目的在于制备一种可用于集中式太阳能热发电(CSP)和工业废热回收(IWH)等应用的新型高温复合相变材料,并且使用导热增强物质(TCE)提升相变材料的导热性能。复合相变储热材料主要由硝酸钠(NaNO_3)相变材料,氧化镁(MgO)陶瓷基体,以及不同种类、不同比例的石墨导热增强剂组成。通过对复合材料的形态及热物理性质测定表明:不同种类的石墨导热增强剂对复合材料的导热性能影响不同,复合材料的储热密度随复合材料中相变材料比例的增加而增加。所得基于硝酸盐的陶瓷复合材料均可在500℃保持良好的热稳定性,因此其潜在应用包括工业废热回收及集中式太阳能热发电系统(CSP)等。

Winter and Summer Evaluation of Bacteriological Water Quality at Recreational Beaches along Todos Santos Bay, Baja California, Mexico

Water bacteriological qualities of 22 recreational beaches in Ensenada Bay, Baja California, Mexico were analyzed during the summer and winter of 2008. Total and fecal coliforms as well as enterococci bacteria were used as pollution indicators. Results showed that bacteria concentrations were higher in winter than summer, associated with Southern California rainy season. Bacteria loads in winter exceeded both the daily and monthly standards showing a clear effect of storm water runoff in the quality of Todos Santos Bay recreational beaches. Statistical analysis showed significant differences between bacteria concentration during summer and winter. The general behavior of the indicators based on daily and monthly standards from high to low was enterococci > FC > TC> total/fecal ratio. Water discharged from 3 sewage treatment plants were responsible for the pollution observed at stations, when the uptake capacity of plants exceeded the storage. During summer pollution was due to non-programmed discharges from sewage treatment plants.

Introduction: Vulnerable is someone who can be hurt or receive injury, physically or morally. The work environment appears as one of the dimensions in which social vulnerability develops and social and occupational vulnerability is defined. The literature does not include an assessment of quantified occupational vulnerability as it already exists in the case of social vulnerability. The aim of this paper is to identify and quantify the variables included in the Protocol for the Assessment of Vulnerability to COVID-19 in such a way that the result can be quantified and allows for a predictive effect on the degree of vulnerability. Methodology: The starting point is the design of a protocol proposal that includes 29 variables. Data is collected from a sample of 420 workers, quantifying the results according to each variable, the overall scores for each group of aspects assessed and, finally, the total score that estimates the degree of vulnerability according to established ranges. Results: Variables that have the highest coefficient and, therefore, the greatest weight in the probability of reaching a group of high or medium vulnerability are cardiovascular disease, cancer, and coagulation alteration. The weight of the labour aspects due to inadequate working conditions stands out. Conclusions: The results obtained with this protocol allow us to make a quantified assessment of labour vulnerability to COVID-19 by integrating individual variables of the worker, his working conditions and the preventive actions of his company against COVID-19, and can be useful as an Occupational Vulnerability Index (OVI).

AIM: To study the potential role of dependence statuson CB_1-mediated blockade of ethanol self-administra-tion. METHODS: We examined the effects of thecannabinoid antagonist SR141716A (0, 0.03, 0.3,and 3 mg/kg) on pperant ethanol (10 ％ v/v) self-administration in male Wistar rats that were madeethanol-dependent by chronic (14 d ) exposure toethanol vapor-chambers or exposed to air in identicalvapor chambers.RESULTS: Dependent animalsresponded more for ethanol than did air controlnondependent tats. The acute administration of a 3mg/kg dose of SR141716A almost suppressed ethanolself-administration ouly in ethanol dependent animals.
