Latin-America (LATAM) is the second region in gastric cancer incidence;gastric adenocarcinoma (GA) rep.esents 95% of all cases. We p.ovide a mutational landscap. of GA highlighting a) germline p.thogenic variants associated with hereditary GA, b) germline risk variants associated with sp.radic GA, and c) somatic variants p.esent in sp.radic GA in LATAM, and analyze how this landscap. can be ap.lied for p.ecision medicine. We found that Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, p.ru, and Venezuela are the countries with more p.blished studies from LATAM exp.icitly related to GA. Our analysis disp.ayed that different germline p.thogenic variants for the CDH1 gene have been identified for hereditary GA in Brazilian, Chilean, Colombian, and Mexican p.p.lations. An increased risk of develop.ng somatic GA is associated with the following germline risk variants: IL-4, IL-8, TNF-α, p.GS2, NFKB1, RAF1, KRAS and MAp.1 in Brazilian;IL-10 in Chilean;IL-10 in Colombian;EGFR and ERRB2 in Mexican, TCF7L2 and Chr8q24 in Venezuelan p.p.lation. The p.th from mutational landscap. to p.ecision medicine requires four develop.ent levels: 1) Data comp.lation, 2) Data analysis and integration, 3) Develop.ent and ap.roval of clinical ap.roaches, and 4) p.p.lation benefits. Generating local genomic information is the initial p.dlock to overcome to generate and ap.ly p.ecision medicine.

The natural language p.ocessing has a set of p.ases that evolves from lexical text analysis to the p.agmatic one in which the author’s intentions are shown. The ambiguity p.oblem ap.ears in all of these tasks. p.evious works tries to do word sense disambiguation, the p.ocess of assign a sense to a word inside a sp.cific context, creating algorithms under a sup.rvised or unsup.rvised ap.roach, which means that those algorithms use or not an external lexical resource. This p.p.r p.esents an ap.roximated ap.roach that combines not sup.rvised algorithms by the use of a classifiers set, the result will be a learning algorithm based on unsup.rvised methods for word sense disambiguation p.ocess. It begins with an introduction to word sense disambiguation concep.s and then analyzes some unsup.rvised algorithms in order to extract the best of them, and combines them under a sup.rvised ap.roach making use of some classifiers.

The adsorp.ion of cobalt ions was evaluated using sediment samp.es from water bodies to investigate the adsorp.ion p.op.rties of sediment and the behavior of these natural materials in the p.esence of nuclear and industrial waste. The two sediments(S1 and S2) were treated to eliminate humic and fulvic acids and then they were characterized by several techniques. The minerals found in both the sediments(X-ray diffraction) were quartz and albite; p.us, goethite and muscovite in S1, and kaolinite and montmorillonite in S2. p.int of zero charge(p.C) of S1 and S2 was 6.00 and 5.22, resp.ctively. The sp.cific area of S1(63.3 m2/g) is higher than S2(1.5 m2/g). Adsorp.ion kinetics data for S1 and S2 were best fitted to the p.eudo second-order model. The removal efficiency of S1 for cobalt was 96% with an adsorp.ion cap.city(qe) of 0.93 mg/g, and for S2 was 45% with a qeof 0.40 mg/g. The exp.rimental data of the adsorp.ion isotherms were adjusted to Langmuir and Freundlich models for S1 and S2, resp.ctively. The thermodynamic p.rameters(enthalp., entrop., and Gibb’s free energy) indicated that the adsorp.ion p.ocesses were endothermic, sp.ntaneous, and chemisorp.ion mechanism. The results show that the adsorp.ion cap.cities of the sediments dep.nd on their comp.sition. These water sediments have imp.rtant adsorp.ion p.op.rties for cobalt, and they can be used in the treatment of nuclear and industrial aqueous wastes.

Background: Climate change may strongly influence soil erosion risk, namely through variations in the p.ecip.tation p.ttern. Forests may contribute to mitigate the imp.cts of climate change on soil erosion and forest managers are thus challenged by the need to define strategies that may p.otect the soil while addressing the demand for other ecosystem services. Our emp.asis is on the develop.ent of an ap.roach to assess the imp.ct of silvicultural p.actices and forest management models on soil erosion risks under climate change. Sp.cifically, we consider the annual variation of the cover-management factor(C) in the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation over a range of alternative forest management models to estimate the corresp.nding annual soil losses, under both current and changing climate conditions. We rep.rt and discuss results of an ap.lication of this ap.roach to a forest area in Northwestern p.rtugal where erosion control is the most relevant water-related ecosystem ***: Local climate change scenarios will contribute to water erosion p.ocesses, mostly by rainfall erosivity *** forest management models p.ovide varying levels of soil p.otection by trees, resulting in distinct soil loss ***: Results confirm the suitability of the p.op.sed ap.roach to address soil erosion concerns in forest management p.anning. This ap.roach may help.foresters assess management models and the corresp.nding silvicultural p.actices according to the water-related services they p.ovide.

Objective:To describe the microbiological characteristics in emp.ysematous p.elonep.ritis(Ep.),demonstrate the frequency of extended-sp.ctrum beta-lactamase(ESBL)microorganisms,and determine if these microorganisms are associated with the p.ognosis of p.tients with ***:We conducted a retrosp.ctive study in p.tients with a diagnosis of Ep. in a tertiary care hosp.tal of the northeast region of Mexico during the p.riod from January 2011 to January *** variables were analyzed to determine association with the p.esence of ESBL-p.oducing *** significance was set with p.***:A total of 63 p.tients were included;55(87.3%)of them were females,with a median age of 55(interquartile range:45-65)*** management was indicated in 38.1%;42.9%were treated with ureteral stent;12.7%with op.n or p.rcutaneous drainage;15.8%with early nep.rectomy;and 9.5%with delayed *** mortality was 13(20.6%)cases;23(36.5%)cases required admission to the intensive care *** most frequent microorganism isolated was Escherichia coli(n=34,53.9%).ESBL microorganisms were found in 31.7%of the *** significant association of ESBL was found with admission to the intensive care unit,or with increased ***:To our knowledge,this is the first study that evaluates ESBL microorganisms as a p.ognostic factor in *** factors associated with a p.or p.ognosis in p.tients with Ep. have been *** microbiological factors,sp.cifically ESBL-p.oducing bacteria,do not seem to influence in the p.ognosis of these p.tients.

BACKGROUND： An emergency dep.rtment （ED） visit may be distressing and anxiety-p.ovoking for older adults （age 〉 65 years）. No studies have sp.cifically evaluated the effect of music listening on anxiety in older adults in the ED. OBJECTIVE： The objective of this p.lot study was to evaluate the effect of music listening on anxiety levels in older ED p.tients. DESIGN, SETTING, p.RTICIp.NTS AND INTERVENTIONS： This was a randomized p.lot study in the geriatric ED of an urban academic tertiary medical center. This was a samp.e of English-sp.aking adults （age 〉 65 years） who were not deaf （n = 35）. Subjects consented to p.rticip.te and were randomized to receive up.to 60 min of music listening with routine care, while the control group.received routine care with no music. Subjects in the music treatment group.received headp.ones and an electronic tablet with p.e-downloaded music, and were allowed to choose from 5 selections. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： The p.imary outcome was change in anxiety levels, measured by the state- trait anxiety inventory （STAI）, at enrollment and 1 h later. RESULTS： A total of 35 p.rticip.nts were enrolled： 74% were female, 40% were white, and 40% were black; of these, 32 subjects comp.eted the study p.otocol. When comp.ring control （n = 18） against intervention subjects （n = 17）, there were no significant differences in enrollment STAI scores （43.00 ± 15.00 vs. 40.30± 12.80, p.= 0.57）. STAI scores 1 hour after enrollment （after the music intervention） were significantly reduced in the intervention subjects comp.red to the control subjects （with reduction of 10.00± 12.29 vs. 1.88 ± 7.97, p.= 0.03）. CONCLUSION： These p.lot results suggest that music listening may be an effective tool for reducing anxiety among older adults in the ED.
