Critical Infrastructures(CIs),which serve as the foundation of our modern society,are facing increasing risks from cyber threats,physical attacks,and natural ***,the interdependencies between CIs through-out their operational lifespan can also significantly impact their integrity and *** a result,enhancing the resilience of CIs has emerged as a top priority for many countries,including the European *** involves not only understanding the threats/attacks themselves but also gaining knowledge about the areas and infrastruc-tures that could potentially be affected.A European Union-funded project named PRECINCT(Preparedness and Resilience Enforcement for Critical INfrastructure Cascading Cyber-Physical Threats),under the Horizon 2020 program,tries to connect private and public stakeholders of CIs in a specific geographical *** key objec-tive of this project is to establish a common cyber-physical security management approach that will ensure the protection of both citizens and infrastructures,creating a secure *** paper presents the components of PRECINCT,including a directory of PRECINCT Critical Infrastructure Protection(CIP)*** blueprints support CI communities in designing integrated ecosystems,operating and replicating PRECINCT components(or toolkits).The integration enables coordinated security and resilience management,incorporating improved’installation-specific’security ***,Serious Games(SG),and Digital Twins(DT)are a significant part of this project,serving as a novel vulnerability evaluation method for analysing complicated multi-system cascading effects in the PRECINCT Living Labs(LLs).The use of SG supports the concentrated advancement of innovative resilience enhancement services.

Composition and Molecular Identification of Bacterial Community in Seawater Desalination Plants

Biofouling is an important problem for reverse osmosis (RO) membrane manufacturers. Bacteria are mainly involved in generating fouling and obturating RO membranes. Insights into biofilm bacteria composition could help prevent biofouling, reduce the cost of using RO-fouling membranes and guarantee safe water. Culture-dependent and independent techniques were then performed in order to identify bacteria associated with RO membranes. Bacteria cultures described the presence of six pure colonies, four of which were identified through API testing. Based on 16s rRNA gene analysis, a predominant bacterium was identified and annotated as Sphingomonas sp. The 16s rRNA gene clone library, on the other hand, showed that the bacterium, Pseudomonas marincola, accounted for nearly 30% of the clone library, while the rest of bacteria were chimeras (62%) and non-representative species (3%). In conclusion, culture-dependent and independent approaches showed that two dominant bacteria were commonly observed in RO desalination membranes.

Sintering and Wear Behavior of a FeCrCB Hardfacing Alloy Applied by Tape Casting: A Study of Cooling Rate Effect

This study presents a simple process to deposit a hardfacing coating on a steel substrate, based on the sintering of metallic powder applied by tape casting (by a slurry of metallic powder suspension onto a steel substrate) thus avoiding the use of traditional welding processes and their variants. The effect of the cooling of hardfacing after the sintering process, by air at room temperature or by quenching in water, was studied. This new method ensures a good metallurgical bonding between the substrate steel and the hardfacing layer and shows mechanical property improvement on coated pieces, similar to those exhibited by hardfacing coatings produced by several kinds of welding processes. The characterization of the hardfacing coatings was made by X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, microhardness and wear resistance according to the ASTM G65 standard. The characterization results show that the presented faces are: M7C3, M3C, MC, M2B and M23B6;there are three different phases in the micrograph glass phase, eutectic phase and hard phase with a volumetric fraction of 0.14, 0.20 and 0.66, respectively, for the air cooled and 0.15, 0.16 and 0.69 when quenched in water. The average microhardness value for the parts cooled in air was 832.5 HV and for that cooled in water was 958.9 HV, and the wear resistance was a mass loss of 0.219 and 0.128 g for parts cooled in air and water, respectively. These results show that the hardfacing coating could have twice the hardness and wear resistance than that observed for the boron steel used as a substrate.

OI 630.0 nm airglow observations,from a new observatory at Bom Jesus de Lapa,were used to study the interaction between EPBs(Equatorial Plasma Bubbles)and the MSTID(Medium-Scale Traveling Ionospheric Disturbance)over the Northeast region in *** the night of September 16 to 17,2020,an EPB was observed propagating eastward,in an apparent fossil stage,until it interacted with a dark band electrified MSTID(e MSTID).After the interaction,four EPBs merged,followed by an abrupt southward development and *** of the data suggests that an eastward polarization electric field,induced by the dark band e MSTID,forced the EPB into an upward drift,growing latitudinally along the magnetic field lines and then bifurcating.

Reagent-free determination of amikacin content in amikacin sulfate injections by FTIR derivative spectroscopy in a continuous flow system

The quantitative estimation of amikacin （AMK） in AMK sulfate injection samples is reported using FTIR-derivative spectrometric method in a continuous flow system. Fourier transform of mid-IR spectra were recorded without any sample pretreatment. A good linear calibration （r40.999, %RSDo 2.0） in the range of 7.7-77.0 mg/mL was found. The results showed a good correlation with the manufacturer＇s and overall they all fell within acceptable limits of most pharmacopoeial monographs on AMK sulfate.

Assessment of hybrid geoids in Chile and Spain,combining GGM and GNSS/Leveling observations

Biochar has been proposed as a soil amendment to reclaim salt-affected ***,the evaluation of the different biochar types in these soils is essential due to the significant variation among biochar *** this study,biochars from sugarcane bagasse(SB),orange bagasse(OB),and corncob(CB)were applied alone and in the presence of gypsum(G)to test their potential to remediate a highly degraded saline-sodic soil in Brazil´s Northeast *** that,we conducted a laboratory column-leaching experiment and a greenhouse *** the column-leaching test,we analyzed the sodium adsorption ratio(SAR),the electrical conductivity of the saturation extract(ECe),the concentrations of major ions,and the exchangeable sodium percentage(ESP).Maize plants were grown in the leached soil in a ***-and corncob-derived biochars were more efficient than gypsum in reducing the soil salinity,bringing the indicators below threshold values,and optimizing soil reclamation *** ECe,SAR,and ESP were reduced to 3.42 dS m−1,1.64(mmolc dm−3)0.5 and 4.86%,respectively,in the SB treatment;and to 3.19 dS m−1,0.88(mmolc dm−3)0.5 and 2.53%,respectively,in the CB *** bagasse biochar did not effectively reduce the salinity *** biochar treatments improved seed germination and plant *** SB,CB,SBG,and CBG treatments increased plant height(478–558%),shoot mass(783–983%),and root mass(386–500%),***,the application of SB and CB is an effective alternative to remediate saline-sodic soils and to reduce the impact of soil salinity in the environment.
