Colorectal cancer(CRC)remains one of the most commonly diagnosed and deadliest types of cancer *** displays a desmoplastic reaction(DR)that has been inversely associated with poor prognosis;less DR is associated with a better *** reaction generates excessive connective tissue,in which cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)are critical cells that form a part of the tumor *** are directly involved in tumorigenesis through different ***,their role in immunosuppression in CRC is not well understood,and the precise role of signal transducers and activators of transcription(STATs)in mediating CAF activity in CRC remains *** the myriad chemical and biological factors that affect CAFs,different cytokines mediate their function by activating STAT signaling ***,the harmful effects of CAFs in favoring tumor growth and invasion may be modulated using STAT ***,we analyze the impact of different STATs on CAF activity and their immunoregulatory role.

persistent Abdominal pain Associated with Splenic Lymphangioma in An Adult patient: A Case presentation

Splenic lymphangioma is a rare benign lesion, predominantly seen in the pediatric population and exceptionally in adults. It is usually associated with lymphatic system malformations caused by secondary lymphangiectasia due to abnormal communication between lymphatic ducts. It often coexists with complex clinical syndromes, such as Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, congenital epithelial cysts, or, in less frequent conditions, infectious or post-traumatic triggering events. It typically presents in the neck or axillae, with intra-abdominal cases accounting for less than 5% of all cases. We present the clinical case of a 44-year-old male patient who presented with a clinical course of approximately one month, characterized by progressive abdominal pain associated with nausea, multiple episodes of emesis, anorexia, and involuntary weight loss. A diagnostic laparoscopy was performed, revealing a poorly differentiated lesion in the splenic topography, for which a biopsy was performed, leading to the definitive diagnosis. In this scenario, splenic lymphangioma should be considered among the differential diagnoses of persistent abdominal pain, and definitive interventions should be determined based on clinical characteristics.

Celecoxib enhances the detoxification of diethylnitrosamine in rat liver cancer

AIM： To study the effect of celecoxib （CXB） on diethylnitrosamine activation through the regulation of cytochrome p450 in a hepatocarcinogenesis ***： Six-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups, a non-treated group （NT）, a diethylnitrosamine-treated group （DEN）, a DEN＋CXB-treated group （DEN＋CXB）,and CXB 8 d-treated and CXB 32 d-treated groups. The effects of celecoxib on the enzymatic activities of CYp1A1, 2A, 2B1/2, and 2E1 were assessed in hepatic microsomes 24 h after DEN *** in CYpIA1 and CYp2B1/2 protein expression were also evaluated. The rate of DEN metabolism was measured by the production of the deethylation metabolite acetaldehyde, and the denitrosation metabolite ***： DEN＋CXB administration produced a significant increase in the enzymatic activities ofCYp2B1/2 and 1A1, whereas it did not change the activities of CYp2A and 2E1, compared to that of the DEN group. CXB treatment for eight days did not produce a significant effect on enzymatic activity when compared to the NT group; however, when it was administered for prolonged times （CXB 32 d group）,the enzymatic activities were increased in a similar pattern to those in the DEN＋CXB group. The observed increase in the enzymatic activities in the DEN＋CXB group was accompanied by an increase in the CYp2B1/2 protein levels; no changes were observed in the levels of CYpIA1. In vitro, CXB increased the denitrosation of DEN, a pathway of metabolic detoxification. The addition of SKF-525A, a preferential inhibitor of CYp2B, abrogated the denitrosation of ***： These results suggest that the mechanism of action of CXB involves enhancement of the detoxification of DEN by an increasing denitrosation via CYp2B1/2.

Desmodus rotundus and Diphylla ecaudata, both of which are mammals of the order Chiroptera, Desmodontidae family, their diet consisting exclusively of blood. D. rotundus is the main vector and transmitter of the rabies virus, which affects human beings as well as several livestock species so the study of this bat species is of high importance within the fields of animal agriculture and public health. The present study describes and compares the histologic characteristics of the urinary system of two hematophagous bat species. A total of 5 bats from each species were captured in the municipalities of progreso de Obregón, Hidalgo (D. rotundus), and Huayacocotla, Veracruz (D. ecaudata). Organs belonging to the urinary system were extracted: kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra;samples were fixed using 10% formalin and processed by the paraffin embedding technique, obtaining sections of 5 µm thickness, which in turn were stained using hematoxylin-eosin (H-E) and Gomori trichrome (GT) stains. From the obtained histologic preparations, a descriptive and comparative analysis of the structural organography of the urinary system of both species was made, and no noteworthy histological differences between samples were noted. The present research is intended to provide a framework for future studies of these species’ currently understudied microscopic anatomy.

Effect of Mushroom Extract Hericium erinaceus on Spatial Memory and Morphology of Neurons in the CA1 and CA3 Regions of the Hippocampus in Ovariectomized Rats

Various studies indicate that low levels of estradiol negatively impact cognitive abilities. Extracts from the fungus Hericium erinaceus (HE) contain bioactive components that promote the proper functioning of the nervous system and potential effects on protection against neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and motor dysfunctions. The objective was to evaluate the effects of the administration of the HE mushroom extract on visuospatial memory and morphology of neurons in the CA1 and CA3 regions of the hippocampus in ovariectomized rats. 40 young Wistar rats weighing 90 ± 10 g BW were used, which were distributed into four groups of 10 animals;Control Group, non-ovariectomized and untreated rats;Group E2, ovariectomized rats treated with estradiol (2 μg/kg/body weight);Group HE, ovariectomized rats treated with the extract of the fungus Hericium erinaceus (0.5 mg/kg body weight) and Group Ovx/ST, ovariectomized rats, without treatment. The animals were tested in the Barnes and Open Field maze, then they were sacrificed, and their brains were obtained to perform a histological analysis of neuronal morphology in the CA1 and CA3 areas of the hippocampus. The most outstanding results showed that the Ovx/ST group recorded the longest time to arrive at the escape box and stay in the Barnes maze. A correlation was observed between neuronal damage and function;in the groups that did not present satisfactory performance in the maze tests, morphological alterations were identified such as the presence of some neuronal somata with degeneration characteristics such as pyknosis, nuclear basophilia and shrinkage of the cells. Its soma, as well as a decrease in the nuclear area of CA1 and CA3 neurons. It is concluded that the fungus Hericium erinaceus exerted a neuroprotective effect on the neuronal bodies of the hippocampus, associated with better performance in the visuospatial recognition memory test.

Introduction:Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)may be associated with various skin *** them,figurate erythema(FE)is rare;only a few clinical reports have been ***,we reported an unusual concentric FE lesions and their immunohistochemical profile in a patient with *** presentation:A 52-year-old woman was diagnosed with *** month later,she developed asymptomatic annular erythematous concentric ring lesions on her inner right *** margin of every ring increased in coloration,and the lesions then completely resolved in 2 weeks.A biopsy revealed vasculitis of small vessels,an increase in the fluorescence intensity of CD3 and CD45,and negativity for COVID-19 ***:The results showed an unusual FE that has a clinical mixed type between erythema annulare centrifugum and erythema gyratum repens;the physiopathological mechanism in the FE due to COVID-19 is unknown;one theory involves rapid viral passage into the cutaneous vascular system that triggers an immune and inflammatory *** the results exhibited a negative COVID-19 RNA in the tissue,the CD3^(+)/CD45^(+)lymphocyte infiltration could explain the clinical pattern as a direct inflammatory response in the small vessel or as a delayed immune ***:Our findings suggest an immunohistochemical small vessel vasculitis pattern with an unusual clinical FE that differs from other types of COVID-19-associated FE or erythema reported previously.

Impact of device resistances in the performance of graphene-based terahertz photodetectors

In recent years, graphene field-effect-transistors(GFETs) have demonstrated an outstanding potential for terahertz(THz) photodetection due to their fast response and high-sensitivity. Such features are essential to enable emerging THz applications, including 6G wireless communications, quantum information, bioimaging and security. However, the overall performance of these photodetectors may be utterly compromised by the impact of internal resistances presented in the device, so-called access or parasitic resistances. In this work, we provide a detailed study of the influence of internal device resistances in the photoresponse of high-mobility dual-gate GFET detectors. Such dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease) the internal resistance of the device by an order of magnitude and consequently demonstrate an improved responsivity and noise-equivalent-power values of the photodetector, respectively. Our results can be well understood by a series resistance model, as shown by the excellent agreement found between the experimental data and theoretical calculations. These findings are therefore relevant to understand and improve the overall performance of existing high-mobility graphene photodetectors.

New Rotative Radiofrequency Technology: A Multicenter Retrospective Study on Efficacy and Safety

Background: Non-ablative radiofrequency (RF) technology is widely used for the treatment of signs of aging, skin laxity, localized fat and cellulite. However, many RF devices suffer from technical limitations that make the results highly dependent on the user’s experience or clinical limitations that compromise safety, efficacy and comfort. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel semi-automatic non-ablative RF device for skin tightening, body shaping and cellulite reduction. Materials and methods: A retrospective multicenter study was performed using a novel rotative RF device with temperature and impedance control (Sculpt&Shapep>®p>, Sinclair, Spain). 58 subjects underwent a minimum of 4 treatments every 1-2 weeks. A total of 120 treatments (56.7% body and 43.3% facial) and 1034 sessions were performed. Efficacy was evaluated by 3 researchers using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) and anthropometric measurements were collected. Subject and practitioner satisfaction were recorded. Safety was evaluated by analyzing the perception of pain during the treatment and the side and adverse effects immediately after treatment and over the next 48 hours. Results: Between 25% and 50% improvement was achieved according to the GAIS. Statistically significant (p pectively. 77.5% of subjects and 94.9% of practitioners were either satisfied or very satisfied. Minor adverse effects were found in 0.97% of the sessions. Conclusion: This novel semi-automatic rotative RF device has been found to provide treatments that are effective, safe and comfortable for both practitioners and subjects. .

Anchor Root Development: A World within Worlds

Many plant species develop shoot-borne adventitious roots(ARs)with specialized functions that contribute to plant adaptability by enhancing resource capture and stress *** Arabidopsis,as in many dicots,the postembryonic root system is primarily composed of lateral roots(LRs),which originate from the xylem pole pericycle cells through a process that involves periodic oscillation in gene expression mediated by a β-carotenoidderived signal(Dickinson et al.,2019).Our understanding of the key molecular and signaling events regulating AR initiation has recently been obtained from studies in Arabidopsis,where ARs are formed on etiolated hypocotyls upon transfer to light(Lakehal et al.,2019)or from excised leaf explants(Zhang et al.,2019).Anchor roots(ANRs)are a type of AR that originate immediately below the root-hypocotyl junction in an auxindependent manner and that require a diapocarotenoid-derived signal(anchorene)to emerge(Jia et al.,2019).ANR primordia activation may represent a generic mechanism to compensate for the loss of the growth potential of the primary root(pR),as it is enhanced by mutations affecting pR growth,by whole-root excision or by nitrogen deficiency(Jia et al.,2019).A recent paper by Bai et al.(2020)provides direct evidence that a regulatory module involving the Ap2/ERF transcription factor ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 4(ABI4),the mitogen-activated protein kinases(MApKs)MpK3 and MpK6,and the phosphatase pp2C12 controls ANR emergence in Arabidopsis.
