Aims Seeds of Rumex crispus from six provenances were studied in relation to their germination under drought and presence of nitrogen in the germination and emergence *** also investigated whether adaptation to soil increases the ability of the species to colonize and establish in contrasting environments along a longitudinal gradient in western Spain by means of a reciprocal transplantation *** We conducted a germination trial in the lab to test for the germination responses to water scarcity along a polyethylene glycol gradient and to varying concentrations of nitrogen *** reciprocal transplantations experiment was conducted,where seeds from six provenances were grown in the soils from the very same *** emergence,survivorship and fitness-related variables were measured in all *** Findings We found that *** has a cold-stratification requirement that enhances its *** differences between the six provenances were detected for time-to-germination,total seedling emergence,plant mortality and reproductive effort in all the *** differences between provenances with respect to germination were confirmed by the significant statistical analyses of the variance,thus providing evidence that seeds from parent plants grown in different environmental conditions have an intrinsically different abilities to germinate and *** nitrogen content where seed germination and seedlings establish also play an important role in their performance in terms of survivorship and reproduction,being the higher levels of inorganic nitrogen and of microbial biomass those that increased biomass production,enhanced inflorescence formation and reduced plant *** conclude that one of the main reasons for the spread and maintenance of *** would be the increased levels of nitrogen in agricultural soils.

AIM： To determine the association of Helicobacter pylori （H pylorl） CagA^＋ infection and pro-inflammatory polymorphisms of the genes interleukin （IL）-IRN and IL-1B with the risk of gastric atrophy and peptic ulcers in a dyspeptic population in Costa rica, a country with high incidence and mortality of gastric cancer. METHODS： Seven biopsy specimens, a fasting blood sample and a questionnaire concerning nutritional and sociodemographic factors were obtained from 501 consecutive patients who had undergone endoscopy for dyspeptic symptoms. A histopathological diagnosis was made. pepsinogen concentrations were analyzed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. Infection with H pylori CagA^＋ was determined by serology and polymerase chain reaction （pCR）. IL-1B and IL-1RN polymorphisms genotyping was performed by pCRrestriction fragment length polymorphism （pCR-RFIp）and pCR respectively. RESULTS： In this dyspeptic population, 86% were Hpylori positive and of these, 67.8% were positive for CagA. Atrophic antral gastritis （AAG） was associated with CagA^＋ status [odd ratio （OR） = 4.1; p 〈 0.000] and fruit consumption （OR = 0.3; p 〈 0.00）. Atrophic body gastritis （ABG） was associated with pepsinogen pGI/pGII 〈 3.4 （OR = 4.9; p 〈 0.04） and alcohol consumption （OR = 7.3; p 〈 0.02）. Duodenal ulcer was associated with CagA^＋（OR = 2.9; p 〈 0.04） and smoking （OR = 2.4; p 〈 0.04）. pGI 〈 60 μg/L as well as pGI/pGII 〈 3.4 were associated with CagA^＋. CONCLUSION： In a dyspeptic population in Costa rica, H pylori CagA^＋ is not associated with ABG, but it is a risk factor for AAG. The pro-inflammatory cytokine poly- morphisms IL-1B ＋ 3945 and IL-1RN are not associated with the atrophic lesions of this dyspeptic population.

Our previous studies have reported that activation of the NLRp3(NOD-,LRR-and pyrin domain-containing protein 3)-inflammasome complex in ethanol-treated astrocytes and chronic alcohol-fed mice could be associated with neuroinflammation and brain *** stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles(MSC-EVs)have been shown to restore the neuroinflammatory response,along with myelin and synaptic structural alterations in the prefrontal cortex,and alleviate cognitive and memory dysfunctions induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** the therapeutic role of the molecules contained in mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles,the present study analyzed whether the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles isolated from adipose tissue,which inhibited the activation of the NLRp3 inflammasome,was capable of reducing hippocampal neuroinflammation in adolescent mice treated with binge *** demonstrated that the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles ameliorated the activation of the hippocampal NLRp3 inflammasome complex and other NLRs inflammasomes(e.g.,pyrin domain-containing 1,caspase recruitment domain-containing 4,and absent in melanoma 2,as well as the alterations in inflammatory genes(interleukin-1β,interleukin-18,inducible nitric oxide synthase,nuclear factor-kappa B,monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,and C–X3–C motif chemokine ligand 1)and miRNAs(miR-21a-5p,miR-146a-5p,and miR-141-5p)induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** analysis further revealed the involvement of miR-21a-5p and miR-146a-5p with inflammatory target genes and NOD-like receptor signaling *** together,these findings provide novel evidence of the therapeutic potential of MSC-derived EVs to ameliorate the hippocampal neuroinflammatory response associated with NLRp3 inflammasome activation induced by binge drinking in adolescence.

A Bioequivalence Study of Empagliflozin/Metformin Fixed-dose Combination in Healthy Subjects under Fasting Conditions

Background: This study evaluated the bioequivalence of empagliflozin 12.5 mg/metformin 1000 mg tablets compared to Synjardy® (Empagliflozin 12.5 mg/metformin 1000 mg) tablets in healthy male subjects under fasting conditions. Methods: This was a phase I, randomized, single-dose, two-period, two-sequence, crossover study to evaluate the bioequivalence (BE) profiles of two fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) of empagliflozin/metformin. Cmax, AUC0-t and AUC0-∞ from test and reference formulations were evaluated to access BE. The plasma concentrations were measured using a validated liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method. Of the 24 subjects enrolled, 23 completed both periods of the study. The two formulations test and reference were considered bioequivalent if 90% confidence interval (CI) fell within 80.00% - 125.00% for Cmax, AUC0-t and AUC0-∞. Tolerability and safety were assessed throughout the study. Results: The pharmacokinetic (pK) parameters were similar between the test product (T) and reference product (R) Synjardy®. The 90% CI of the test/reference ratios of log-transformed pK parameters point estimates was Cmax: 89.87% (85.68% - 94.27%), AUC0-t: 87.91% (83.65% - 92.39%) and AUC0-∞: 87.16% (82.80% - 91.75%) to empagliflozin and Cmax: 92.19% (87.95% - 96.65%), AUC0-t: 91.38% (84.42% - 98.91%) and AUC0-∞: 93.78% (83.82% - 104.93%) to metformin respectively (90% CI for all pK parameters fell within 80.00% - 125.00%). Conclusion: Our results demonstrated BE between the test and reference formulations of oral tablets of empagliflozin 12.5 mg/metformin 1000 mg (FDC) in healthy male subjects under fasting conditions.

Background:Football is the most practised sport in the world and is associated with the risk of injuries in the *** studies have been published that identify injury prevention programs,but there is no review of the full body of evidence on injury prevention programs for use by football *** aim of this article was to carry out a systematic review of published studies on injury prevention programs for adult male footballers,identify points of common understanding and establish recommendations that should be considered in the design of injury prevention ***:pubMed and EMBASE databases were used to identify relevant published articles using the following keywords:"soccer"AND"injury"AND"prevention".Results:A total of 2512 studies were identified initially,but only 11 studies met the inclusion criteria,and their outcomes are *** revealed that injury prevention programs in football have focused on strength training,proprioceptive training,multicomponent programs(balance,core stability,and functional strength and mobility),and warm-up ***:Based on results from the studies analyzed,football players can lower the incidence of match and training injuries by participating in dynamic warm-up programs that include preventive exercises before games or during training sessions,and by adding strength,balance,and mobility training to the training sessions.

Genomic prediction(Gp)has become a valuable tool for predicting the performance of selection candidates for the next breeding cycle.A vast majority of statistical linear models on which Gp is based rely on the assumption of normality of the residuals and therefore on the response variable *** this study,we propose to use Bayesian regularized quantile regression(BRQR)in the context of Gp;the model has been successfully used in other research *** evaluated the prediction ability of the proposed model and compared it with the Bayesian ridge regression(BRR;equivalent to genomic best linear unbiased predictor,GBLUp).In addition,BLUp can be used with pedigree information obtained from the coefficient of coancestry(ABLUp).We have found that the prediction ability of BRQR is comparable to that of BRR and,in some cases,better;it also has the potential to efficiently deal with outliers.A program written in the R statistical package is available as Supplementary material.
