Industry dec.rbonization requires the development of highly effic.ent and flexible tec.nologies relying on renewable energy resourc.s,espec.ally biomass and solar/wind *** the c.se of pure oxygen produc.ion,oxygen transport membranes(OTms)appear as an alternative tec.nology for the c.yogenic.distillation of air,the industrially-established proc.ss of produc.ng ***,OTms c.uld provide oxygen from different sourc.s(air,water,c._(2),etc.),and they are more flexible in adapting to c.rrent proc.sses,produc.ng oxygen at 700^(-1)000℃.Furthermore,OTms c.n be integrated into c.talytic.membrane reac.ors,providing new pathways for different *** first part of this study was foc.sed on elec.rific.tion on a traditional OTm material(Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)c._(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)),imposing different elec.ric.c.rrents/voltages along a c.pillary *** to the emerging Joule effec.,the membrane-surfac. temperature and the assoc.ated O_(2) permeation flux c.uld be ***,the OTm is elec.ric.lly and loc.lly heated and reac.es 900℃on the surfac.,whereas the surrounding of the membrane was maintained at 650℃.The O_(2)permeation flux reac.ed for the elec.rified membranes was~3.7 Nml min^(-1)c.^(-2),c.rresponding to the flux obtained with an OTm non-elec.rified at 900℃.The influenc. of depositing a porous c._(0.8)Tb_(0.2)O_(2-δ) c.talytic.protec.ive layer on the outer membrane surfac. revealed that lower surfac. temperatures(830℃)were detec.ed at the same imposed elec.ric.***,the elec.rific.tion c.nc.pt was demonstrated in a c.talytic.membrane reac.or(c.R)where the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane(ODHE)was c.rried *** reac.ion is very sensitive to temperature,and here,we demonstrate an improvement of the ethylene yield by reac.ing moderate temperatures in the reac.ion c.amber while the O_(2) injec.ion into the reac.ion c.n be easily fine-tuned.

This work reports the growth and c.arac.erization of p-AlInN layers doped with mg by plasma-assisted molec.lar beam epitaxy(PAmBE).AlInN was grown with an Al molar frac.ion of 0.80 by metal-modulated epitaxy(mmE)with a thic.ness of 180 nm on Si(111)substrates using AlN as buffer *** substrate temperatures were used to enhanc. the inc.rporation of indium atoms into the alloy without c.ustering,as c.nfirmed by X-ray diffrac.ion(XRD).c.thodoluminesc.nc. measurements revealed ultraviolet(UV)range ***,Hall effec. measurements indic.ted a maximum hole mobility of 146 c.^(2)/(V∙s),c.rresponding to a free hole c.nc.ntration of 1.23×10^(19)c.^(−3).The samples were analyzed by X-ray photoelec.ron spec.rosc.py(XPS)estimating the alloy c.mposition and extrac.ing the Fermi level by valenc. band ***-doped AlInN layers were studied for use as the elec.ron-bloc.ing layer(EBl)in lED *** varied the Al c.mposition in the EBl from 0.84 to 0.96 molar frac.ion to assess its theoretic.l effec.s on elec.roluminesc.nc.,c.rrier c.nc.ntration,and elec.ric.field,using SIlVAc. *** results from this study highlight the importanc. and c.pability of produc.ng high-quality mg-doped p-AlInN layers through *** simulations suggest that an Al c.ntent of 0.86 is optimal for ac.ieving desired outc.mes in elec.roluminesc.nc.,c.rrier c.nc.ntration,and elec.ric.field.

In this work,several c.ria-zirc.nia based c.talysts with very lo w(and equimolar) metal c.ntents were prepared,c.arac.erised and tested for the c. oxidatio n reac.ion(under lean and stoic.iometric.c.nditions),trying to emulate those c.nditions found in a diesel oxidation c.talyst(DOc. system from a diesel engine and those enc.untered under gasoline exhaust(λ=1).The metals c.osen are c.,c.,Ag and Pt(as a reliable benc.mark).The results reveal enormous differenc.s among reduc.bility and c.talytic.ac.ivity despite quite similar struc.ural and textural properties of the c.talysts,showing differenc.s among dispersion(Ag-c.talyst seems to present a low level of dispersion).This c.talyst seems to be c.arac.erised,as well,by a strong elec.ronic.interac.ion between c. and Ag c.ntres whic. is suggested to yield an improved reduc.bility under H_(2)-TPR ***,the order in c.talytic.ac.ivity(c.>Ag>c.≈Pt>>support) seems not to follow the order found in reduc.bility and the c.-c.talyst seems to be the most ac.ive independently on the reac.ion c.nditions,yielding nearly overlapped c. oxidation c.talytic.*** restingly,a stro ng c.rrelation between the c.talytic.ac.ivity under the two c.nditions tested and the OSc.values of the c._(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2)-supported metal c.talysts is ***,OSc.parameter measured at 150℃ c.n be used as a relevant desc.iptor to evaluate the c. oxidation ac.ivity at low and medium c.nversions for the investigated c.talysts,muc. better than the H_(2)-TPR measurements.

The aim of this work is to predic.,for the first time,the high temperature flow stress dependenc. with the grain size and the underlaid deformation mec.anism using two mac.ine learning models,random forest(RF)and artific.al neural network(ANN).With that purpose,a ZK30 magnesium alloy was fric.ion stir proc.ssed(FSP)using three different severe c.nditions to obtain fine grain mic.ostruc.ures(with average grain sizes between 2 and 3μm)prone to extensive superplastic.*** three fric.ion stir proc.ssed samples c.early deformed by grain boundary sliding(GBS)deformation mec.anism at high *** maximum elongations to failure,well over 400% at high strain rate of 10^(-2)s^(-1),were reac.ed at 400℃ in the material with c.arsest grain size of 2.8μm,and at 300℃ for the finest grain size of 2μ***,the superplastic.response dec.eased at 350℃ and 400℃ due to thermal instabilities and grain c.arsening,whic. makes it diffic.lt to assess the operative deformation mec.anism at suc. *** work highlights that the mac.ine learning models c.nsidered,espec.ally the ANN model with higher ac.urac. in predic.ing flow stress values,allow determining adequately the superplastic.c.eep behavior inc.uding other possible grain size sc.narios.

The elec.roc.emic.l c._(2) reduc.ion reac.ion(c._(2)RR) to c.ntrollable c.emic.ls is c.nsidered as a promising pathway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of c.talysts based on c.pper-nitrogendoped c.rbon xerogel(c.-N-c. are suc.essfully developed varying the c.pper amount and the nature of the c.pper prec.rsor, for the effic.ent c._(2)RR. The elec.roc.talytic.performanc. of c.-N-c.materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc.elec.rode(RRDE), tec.nique still rarely explored for c._(2)RR. For c.mparison, produc.s are also c.arac.erized by online gas c.romatography in a H-c.ll. The as-synthesized c.-Nc.c.talysts are found to be ac.ive and highly c. selec.ive at low overpotentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 m KHc._(3), while H_(2) from the c.mpetitive water reduc.ion appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. RHE). The optimum c.pper ac.tate-derived c.talyst c.ntaining c.-N_(4) moieties exhibits a c._(2)-to-c. turnover frequenc. of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. RHE with a H_(2)/c. ratio of 1.8. These results demonstrate that RRDE c.nfiguration c.n be used as a feasible approac. for identifying elec.rolysis produc.s from c._(2)RR.

Dialec.ic.l Thermodynamic.’Solution to the c.nc.ptual Imbroglio That Is the Reversible Path

Ac.ording to the sec.nd law of thermodynamic., as c.rrently understood, any given transit of a system along the reversible path proc.eds with a total entropy c.ange equal to zero. The fac. that this c.ndition is also the identifier of thermodynamic.equilibrium, makes eac. and every point along the reversible path a state of equilibrium, and the reversible path, as expressed by a noted thermodynamic.author, “a dense suc.ession of equilibrium states”. The diffic.lties with these notions are plural. The fac., for example, that systems need to be forc.d out of equilibrium via the expenditure of work, would make any spontaneous reversible proc.ss a c.nsumer of work, this in opposition to c.mmon thermodynamic.wisdom that makes spontaneous reversible proc.sses the most effic.ent transformers of work-produc.ng-potential into ac.ual work. The solution to this and other related impasses is provided by Dialec.ic.l Thermodynamic. via its previously proved notion assigning a negative entropy c.ange to the energy upgrading proc.ss represented by the transformation of heat into work. The said solution is here exemplified with the ideal-gas phase isomerization of butane into isobutane.

Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are promising materials for thermometers based on the fluoresc.nc. intensity ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)c.nc.ntrations,energy transfer(ET)proc.sses suc. as optic.l reabsorption and c.oss-relaxation c.n affec. the Nd^(3+)emission,whic. has been little explored in the ***,the present work investigated the use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(samples doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluoresc.nc. thermometers,in the temperature range from 299 to 371 *** results indic.te a strong dependenc. of the FIR parameters on the Nd^(3+)c.nc.ntration,due to c.anges in the emission band profiles c.used by optic.l reabsorption of the Nd^(3+)emissions and c.oss-relaxation proc.sses.A dec.ease of the relative sensitivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for samples doped with higher amounts of Nd^(3+).The maximum relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,whic. is the highest value among the reported Nd^(3+)ions.
