Diabetes mellitus and its complications are becoming one of the most important health problems in the world. Diabetic nephropathy is now the main cause of end-stage renal disease. The mechanisms leading tothe development and progression of renal injury are not well known. Therefore, it is very important to f ind new pathogenic pathways to provide opportunities for early diagnosis and targets for novel treatments. At the present time, we know that activation of innate immunity with development of a chronic low grade inflammatory response is a recognized factor in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy. Numerous experimental and clinical studies have shown the participation of different inflammatory molecules and pathways in the pathophysiology of this complication.

BACKGrOUND Sacubitril-valsartan has been shown to reduce hospitalizations and mortality in patients with heart failure(HF)and reduced ejection *** PIONEEr-HF trial demonstrated that initiation of the drug during acute HF hospitalization reduced NT-proBNP levels and a post-hoc analysis of the trial found a reduction in HF hospitalizations and ***-life studies in the elderly population are *** aim of our study was to assess the effectiveness of sacubitril-valsartan versus angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEI)in elderly patients who initiate this treatment during hospitalization for acute *** We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the Spanish acute heart failure registry(rICA)comparing rehospitalizations and deaths at 3 months and 1 year among patients aged 70 years or older who had initiated treatment with sacubitrilvalsartan during hospitalization for acute HF versus those treated with *** One hundred and ninety-nine patients hospitalized between October 2016 and November 2020 were included,with a median age of 82 years and high rate of *** these,107 were treated with sacubitril-valsartan and 92 with *** adjusted Or for readmission for HF at 3 months was 0.906(95%CI:0.241-3.404)and for the combined variable readmission for HF or death at 3 months was 0.696(95%CI:0.224-2.167).The adjusted Or for HF readmission at one year was 0.696(95%CI:0.224-2.167).and for the combined variable HF readmission or death at one year 0.724(95%CI:0.325-1.612).CONCLUSION Treatment with sacubitril-valsartan initiated early in hospitalization for HF in elderly patients with high comorbidity was associated with a trend towards a reduction in readmissions and death due to HF compared to treatment with ACEI,which did not reach statistical significance either at 3 months or 1 year of follow-up.

The objective of this study was to evaluate supplemental organic chromium（Cr） to finishing lambs on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and meat quality. Eighteen Suffolk lambs（age（4.5±0.2） mon;（25.8±3.6） kg body weight（BW）） were randomly assigned to three levels of supplemental organic Cr（0.0, 0.2 and 0.4 mg kg^–1 dry matter（DM）） in a complete random design. Growth performance was evaluated for 70 d, and then lambs were slaughtered to study carcass characteristics and chemical composition of meat. Orthogonal contrasts were performed（contrast one-average level 0.2 ppm Cr vs. average level 0.4 ppm Cr; contrast two-level 0 vs. average levels（0.2＋0.4） ppm Cr）. Orthogonal polynomials were used to estimate the linear and quadratic effects of Cr concentrations. Growth and carcass performance were not affected by supplemental organic Cr. Muscle conformation and leg perimeter linearly increased（P〈0.05） as organic Cr level increased in the diet. Kidney fat decreased linearly（P〈0.05） as supplemental Cr increased. In Longissimus dorsi（LD）, the ash content decreased linearly, and shear force（kg cm^–2） increased（P〈0.05） as organic Cr level increased in the diet. It is concluded that organic Cr did not affect growth performance, but it improved positively the muscle conformation, reduced kidney fat, whereas in LD there was an increment in shear force in finishing carcass lambs.

Biofouling is an important problem for reverse osmosis (rO) membrane manufacturers. Bacteria are mainly involved in generating fouling and obturating rO membranes. Insights into biofilm bacteria composition could help prevent biofouling, reduce the cost of using rO-fouling membranes and guarantee safe water. Culture-dependent and independent techniques were then performed in order to identify bacteria associated with rO membranes. Bacteria cultures described the presence of six pure colonies, four of which were identified through API testing. Based on 16s rrNA gene analysis, a predominant bacterium was identified and annotated as Sphingomonas sp. The 16s rrNA gene clone library, on the other hand, showed that the bacterium, Pseudomonas marincola, accounted for nearly 30% of the clone library, while the rest of bacteria were chimeras (62%) and non-representative species (3%). In conclusion, culture-dependent and independent approaches showed that two dominant bacteria were commonly observed in rO desalination membranes.

In this work we study two types of Discrete Hill’s equation. The first comes from the discretization process of a Continuous-time Hill’s equation, we called Discretized Hill’s equation. The Second is a naturally obtained in Discrete-Time and will be called Discrete-time Hill’s equation. The objective of discretization is preserving the continuous-time behavior and we show this property. On the contrary a completely different dynamic property was found for the Discrete-Time Hill’s equation. At the end of the paper is shown that both types share the nonoscillatory behavior of solutions in the 0-th Arnold Tongue.

Parton distribution functions(PDFs)are defining expressions of hadron *** the role of effective charges in quantum chromodynamics,an algebraic scheme is described which,given any hadron’s valence parton PDFs at the hadron scale,delivers predictions for all its PDFs(unpolarized and polarized)at any higher *** scheme delivers results that are largely independent of both the value of the hadron scale and the pointwise form of the charge;and,inter alia,enables derivation of a model-independent identity that relates the strength of the proton’s gluon helicity PDF,ΔG_(p)ζ,to that of the analogous singlet polarized quark PDF and valence quark momentum *** available data fits and theory predictions,the identity yieldsΔG_(p)(ζC=√3 GeV)=1.48(10).It furthermore entails that the measurable quark helicity contribution to the proton spin is a_(op)^(ζC)=0.32(3),thereby reconciling contemporary experiment and theory.

Because of the growing worldwide demand for maize grain,new alternatives have been sought for breeding of this cereal,e.g.,development of polyembryonic varieties,which agronomic performance could positively impact the grain yield per unit area,and nutritional *** objectives of this study were to(1)determine the phytochemicals present in the embryo and endosperm of grain from maize families with high,low,and null polyembryony frequency,which were planted at different locations,and(2)state the relationship between these compounds and seed *** extracted phytochemicals from corn were identified by *** results showed that the genotype with the highest presence of phytochemicals was the brachytic population with high polyembryony called“BAP”,which also required less water during the germination *** number of phytochemicals in both embryo and endosperm tissues was not related to the sowing location where they came from or the type of *** number of different phytochemicals depended on the grain tissue from where they were *** chemical compounds found in the different maize tissues were related to the development of the plant,either in roots or nibs because these are mainly associated with the lignin synthesis.
