This study presents a. a.a.ysis of ma.netic susceptibility a.d na.ura. ga.ma.ra.ioa.tivity a. indirect indica.ors of impurities in Creta.eous limestones of the Sa.ina. ba.in, a. well a. of the possible rela.ion of these physica. properties with the cha.ges in the sedimenta.ion environment. Both of these physica. properties indica.e cha.ges in the degree of impurities a.d the minera.ogica. composition of this rock, principa.ly in its orga.ic ma.ter a.d detritus content. Considering tha. the sedimenta.ion environment determines the impurities in these rocks, possible environmenta. conditions a. different levels of the Creta.eous were suggested using the ma.netic susceptibility, tota. ga.ma.ra.ia.ion a.d pota.sium va.ues, a. well a. the ura.ium a.d thorium concentra.ion in the limestones. The a.a.yses suggest va.ia.ions in the depth of wa.er ta.le of the ba.in, which a.e ma.nly rela.ed to tra.sgressions a.d ma.ine regressions.

In the Bra.ilia. dryla.ds, there a.e tens of thousa.ds of sma.l da.s. Despite their pa.a.ount importa.ce to the rura. popula.ion, they a.e ra.ely monitored. Wa.er dema.d increa.es with time while, simulta.eously, silta.ion reduces reservoir wa.er ca.a.ity a.d a.a.la.ility. Reservoir silta.ion models a.e, therefore, ma.da.ory to ma.a.e the numerous unga.ged sma.l da.s in these dryla.ds.The objective of the current study is to improve sediment tra. efficiency(TE) modeling by including resuspension a. a.key proba.ilistic process. The Sha.non entropy wa. used to estima.e the sediment resuspension proba.ility, which wa. merged with the Ca.p model a.d genera.ed the RETSED entropy model. To va.ida.e the RETSED model, a. experimenta. check da.(ECD, 300 m3), loca.ed in the Gilbu es desertifica.ion site, Bra.il, wa. monitored hourly during one hydrologica. yea.(July 2018-July 2019). Mea.urements show tha. the a.nua. volumetric decline of the check da. wa. 12%; a.d tha. the a.era.e tra. efficiency equa.ed 86%. Only 9.5% of the hourly sediment concentra.ion outflow exceeded the a.era.e plus one sta.da.d devia.ion, showing tha. the reservoir is well mixed; a.fa.t which highlights the releva.ce of the resuspension process. Three empirica. models fa.led to mimic the experimenta. results: Churchill(TE = 99%), Brune(TE = 75%), a.d Ma.yla.d(TE = 94%). a.cording to the RETSED entropy model, the resuspension proba.ility during the experiment wa. 10%a.d TE = 81%, a.va.ue only 6% below the mea.ured one. The Ca.p model simula.ed TE = 89%, only 3%higher tha. the mea.ured va.ue, but confirmed the Ca.p model’s tendency to overestima.e TE due to a.disrega.d of resuspension. The deterministic model showed low sensitivity concerning the hydrodyna.ic effects, wherea. the entropy formula.ion proved to be more consistent with physica. beha.ior: the resuspension proba.ility clea.ly increa.ed a.d tra. efficiency decrea.ed with rising reservoir discha.ge.

This study comprises a.clima.ology of the spa.ia. va.ia.ility of precipita.ion over the São Fra.cisco River Ba.in (SFRB), cha.a.terized by its geogra.hic heterogeneity. The different ra.nfa.l regimes in the region were a.a.yzed through sta.istica. a.d spectra. a.a.yses. Mea.ured precipita.ion da.a. Pa.ific Decennia. Clima.e indexes, ENSO, a.la.tic Multideca.a. Oscilla.ion, North a.la.tic Oscilla.ion, a.la.tic dipole, a.d the sunspot cycle over 65 yea.s were used. The ra.nfa.l da.a.were filtered a.d filled in using the regiona. weighting method. The spa.ia. a.d tempora. va.ia.ility of precipita.ion a.ong the SFRB is rema.ka.le. a.pa.tern wa. observed a.ong with the time series of precipita.ion over the SFRB. The cluster a.a.ysis identified four homogeneous regions in the SFRB a.d expla.ned 87.4% of the tota. va.ia.ce of the a.era.e monthly ra.nfa.l of the 199 ra.n ga.ges. The Cross-wa.elet a.a.ysis identified the rela.ionship between the precipita.ion da.a.series a.d the clima.ic indexes tha. a.e a.a.yzed in this work.

Ba.kground:Thrombocytopenia.is a.possible risk fa.tor for bleeding a.ter ba.d liga.ion of esopha.ea. va.ices.However,eleva.ed von Willebra.d fa.tor(VWF)in cirrhosis improves pla.elet function a.d could decrea.e this risk.Our objective wa. to a.sess pla.elet function in pa.ients with cirrhosis undergoing esopha.ea. va.icea. liga.ion(EVL).Methods:The a.sessment consisted of pla.elet count,a.tigen a.d a.tivity of VWF a.d VWF-clea.ing protea.e a.a.TS-13 a.tivity,a.d a.pla.elet a.hesion a.d a.grega.ion test simula.ing va.cula. flow in vivo(Impa.t-RR)prior to EVL.Results:Tota.ly 111 pa.ients were divided into three groups a.cording to pla.elet count:(1)a.d(3)>100×109/L(n=26,23.4%).No sta.istica.ly significa.t difference wa. found in the a.grega.e size of pla.elets[group 1:41.0(31.8–67.3)μm 2;group 2:47.0(33.8–71.3)μm 2;a.d group 3:47.0(34.0–66.0)μm 2;P=0.60]a.d no significa.t correla.ion wa. found between a.grega.e size a.d pla.elet count(Spea.ma. r=0.07;P=0.47).Surfa.e covera.e wa. 4.1%(2.8%–6.7%),8.5%(4.0%–10.0%),a.d 9.0%(7.1%–12.0%)(Pa.d 3,respectively a.d correla.ed with pla.elet count(Spea.ma. r=0.39;Pa. no significa.t difference between groups in VWF or a.a.TS-13.Post-EVL bleeding occurred in six(5.4%)pa.ients(n=2 in group 1,n=1 in group 2,a.d n=3 in group 3;P=0.32).Pa.ients with bleeding ha. higher MELD scores[15.0(11.3–20.3)versus 12.0(10.0–15.0);P=0.025],but no difference wa. demonstra.ed for pla.elet function pa.a.eters.Conclusion:Pla.elet function is preserved even in the presence of thrombocytopenia.including in the pa.ients with post-EVL bleeding.

Residua. stresses ha.e been numerica.ly determined in welded joints. In this study, the numerica. model is ba.ed on the coupling of different physica. phenomena.considering the therma., mecha.ica. a.d meta.lurgica. na.ure of a.welding process. The a.a.US softwa.e progra. wa. used to perform the numerica. simula.ions, ba.ed on the finite element method (FEM). The a.pects rela.ed to the ma.hema.ica. modeling of complex welding procedures were pondered with the FEM: va.ia.ions in the physica. a.d mecha.ica. properties of the ma.eria.s a. a.function of the tempera.ure;the tra.sience a.d the speed of the welding process, the ma.eria. pha.e tra.sforma.ions;the different mecha.isms of hea. excha.ge with the environment (convection a.d ra.ia.ion);a.l them a.socia.ed with a.high level of nonlinea.ity. Da.a.e scores, a.d biochemica., histologica. a.d immunohistochemica. pa.a.eters were eva.ua.ed. RESULTS Both Cd-Et OHE a.d Cd-Hex P ca.sed significa.t reductions in ma.roscopic lesion scores a.d ulcera.ive l e siona.ea.. The vegeta.le sa.ples inhibited myeloperoxida.e increa.e, a. well a. pro-infla.ma.ory cytokines TNF-α a.d IL-1β. a.ti-infla.ma.ory cytokine IL-10 a.so increa.ed in a.ima.s trea.ed with the tested pla.t sa.ples. The a.ti-infla.ma.ory intestina. effect is rela.ed to decrea.ed expression of cyclooxygena.e-2, prolifera.ing cell nuclea. a.tigen, a.d a. increa.e in superoxide dismuta.e. CONCLUSION The da.a.indica.e a.ti-infla.ma.ory intestina. a.tivity. The effects ma. a.so involve pa.ticipa.ion of the a.tioxida.t system a.d principa. cytokines rela.ing to infla.ma.ory bowel disea.e.

This pa.er presents the sequence of a.tivities to improve the therma. hydra.lic a.a.ysis of the IEa.R1 resea.ch rea.tor to opera.e in sa.e conditions a.ter power upgra.e from 2 to 5 MW a.d core size reduction from 30 to 24 fuel a.semblies. a.rea.istic a.a.ysis needs the knowledge of the a.tua. opera.ion conditions (hea. flow, flow ra.es) beyond the geometric da.a.a.d the uncerta.nties a.socia.ed with ma.ufa.turing a.d mea.ures. a.dummy fuel a.sembly wa. designed a.d constructed to mea.ure the a.tua. flow ra.e through the core fuel a.semblies a.d its pressure drop. First results showed tha. the flow distribution over the core is nea.ly uniform. Nevertheless, the va.ues a.e below tha. the ca.cula.ed ones a.d the core bypa.s flow ra.e is grea.er tha. those estima.ed previously. Ba.ed on this, severa. a.tivities were performed to identify a.d reduce the bypa.s flow, such a. reduction of the flow ra.e through the sa.ple irra.ia.ors, closing some unnecessa.y seconda.y holes on the ma.rix pla.e, improvement in the prima.y flow ra.e system a.d better fit of the core components on the ma.rix pla.e. a.sub-a.ua.ic visua. system wa. used a. a. importa.t tool to detect some bypa.s flow pa.h. a.ter these modifica.ions, the fuel a.semblies flow ra.e increa.ed a.out 13%. a.ditiona. tests using the dummy fuel a.sembly were ca.ried out to mea.ure the interna. flow distribution a.ong the recta.gula. cha.nels. The results showed tha. the flow ra.e through the outer cha.nels is 10% - 15% lower tha. the interna. ones. The flow ra.e in the cha.nel formed between two a.ja.ent fuel a.semblies is a. estima.ed pa.a.eter a.d it is difficult to mea.ure beca.se this is a. open cha.nel. a.new therma. hydra.lic a.a.ysis of the outermost pla.es of the fuel a.semblies ta.es into a.count a.l this informa.ion. Then, a.fuel design modifica.ion wa. proposed with the reduction of 50% in the ura.ium qua.tity in the outermost fuel pla.es.
