Background:Lyme disease is a relatively new and zoonotic canine pathology mostly unknown by people involved in the management and care of ***:to assess the knowledge about Lyme disease by veterinarians and veterinary students in Veracruz,***:three questionnaires were designed and applied to 290 individuals(40 small animal veterinarians,50 in other professional practice and 200 veterinary students).Results and discussion:in general,the three groups were unaware about the disease,although there is a high interest in learning about this *** from seven universities included in this study stated that Lyme disease was not part of the veterinary curriculum in their *** clinical cases suggestive of Lyme disease occurring in dogs in the area were detected at the time of this ***:although the presence of the agent causing Lyme disease has not been demonstrated in the studied area due to the lack of laboratory support and the apparent absence of the vector,it cannot be ruled out;furthermore,it is important that veterinary practitioners and student alike be aware of the potential presence of Lyme disease,paying particular attention to differential diagnosis when resembling clinical signs are observed.

The rapid weight gain and fast muscle growth due to intense genetic selection and improved nutrition for additional breast muscle in broiler commercial strains affect chickens *** order to compare the main locomotive problems in broilers of Cobb and Ross strains,two pens from a commercial farm in Veracruz,Mexico were *** first pen housed 16,500 males and 16,500 females of Cobb strain and the second one 16,500 males and 16,500 females of Ross *** were checked for locomotion problems from day one until their *** with problems were recorded and necropsies were performed to identify the *** of 1406 animals with locomotive problems(2.13%of the total),58.9%were Cobb and 41.1%Ross(Ps was 2.51%for Cobb and 1.75%for *** common individual lesions were osteochondrosis(38.61%),inflamed joints with purulent contents(37.13%),and valgus(19.65%).Locomotive problems appeared since the first week,but its number increased as birds gained weight,particularly from the fourth week *** occurred more in males than in females and in Cobb birds than in the Ross *** loss due to locomotion problems was higher for the Cobb strain.

DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), one of the main epigenetic targets, is involved in the duplication of the DNA methylation pattern during replication, and it is essential for proper mammalian development. small molecule DNMT1 modulators are attractive for biochemical epigenetic studies and have the potential to become drugs. so far, more than five hundred small molecules have been reported as DNMT1 inhibitors. However, only a limited number of DNMT1 activators have been disclosed because, at least in part, DNMT1 activators are typically regarded as negative data in virtual screening campaigns or optimization projects. This manuscript aims to report the chemical structures and biological activity of small molecules that increase the enzymatic activity of DNMT1. Results of the biochemical experimental assays are discussed. It was found that small molecule activators have a large variety of chemical scaffolds but share pharmacophore features. Visual analysis of the chemical space and multiverse based on molecular fingertips supported that activators are structurally diverse. This is the first report of eight small molecules that increase the enzymatic activity of DNMT1 by more than 400% in an enzymatic-based assay. The outcome warrants further investigation of the epigenetic activity of the compounds in a counter-screen assay, e.g., cell-based and in vivo context.

Introduction: Canine mammary gland tumor is the most common type of neoplasia in non-ovariectomized bitches. Approximately 50% of tumors are malignant. Neoplasms originating from the mammary gland represent the most common neoplastic disease in canines in Veterinary Medicine. Aim: Relate the expression of the receptor to progesterone (PR) with the tumor stage of canine mammary carcinoma. Material and Methods: Analytical-cross-sectional study, samples of paraffinized tumor tissue obtained from 30 canine patients with breast cancer were used. The expression of PR was performed by immunohistochemical labeling, using murine anti-PR (anti-PR Biocare brand). A descriptive analysis was carried out with the results using the sPss program. Results: The predominant histological subtype of breast cancer was tubular carcinoma with 12 patients, followed by papillary cystic carcinoma with 6 patients, solid carcinoma 5, carcinosarcoma 4 and comedocarcinoma 3. There was a significant trend between breast cancer subtypes, histological grade G1. Among the histopathological findings, the degree of invasion is related to the presence of tumor cells in adjacent lymph nodes, which is why it is a prognostic indicator. The expression of PR in the tumor tissue samples it was 42.8% positive versus 57.14% negative, of which 75% correspond to G1, 8.3% to G2 and 16.6% to G3. With respect to the relationship of the expression of PR vs type of tumor, it was found that 50% correspond to tubular carcinoma, 33.3% to papillary cystic carcinoma, 8.3% to solid carcinoma and 8.3% to comedocarcinoma. Conclusion: The hormone receptor was negative in more than half of the patients and histological grade is significantly associated with tumor subtypes, this study emphasizes the need to introduce receptor testing into our routine clinical practice to offer the best treatment for breast cancer.

Various studies indicate that low levels of estradiol negatively impact cognitive abilities. Extracts from the fungus Hericium erinaceus (HE) contain bioactive components that promote the proper functioning of the nervous system and potential effects on protection against neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and motor dysfunctions. The objective was to evaluate the effects of the administration of the HE mushroom extract on visuospatial memory and morphology of neurons in the CA1 and CA3 regions of the hippocampus in ovariectomized rats. 40 young Wistar rats weighing 90 ± 10 g BW were used, which were distributed into four groups of 10 animals;Control Group, non-ovariectomized and untreated rats;Group E2, ovariectomized rats treated with estradiol (2 μg/kg/body weight);Group HE, ovariectomized rats treated with the extract of the fungus Hericium erinaceus (0.5 mg/kg body weight) and Group Ovx/sT, ovariectomized rats, without treatment. The animals were tested in the Barnes and Open Field maze, then they were sacrificed, and their brains were obtained to perform a histological analysis of neuronal morphology in the CA1 and CA3 areas of the hippocampus. The most outstanding results showed that the Ovx/sT group recorded the longest time to arrive at the escape box and stay in the Barnes maze. A correlation was observed between neuronal damage and function;in the groups that did not present satisfactory performance in the maze tests, morphological alterations were identified such as the presence of some neuronal somata with degeneration characteristics such as pyknosis, nuclear basophilia and shrinkage of the cells. Its soma, as well as a decrease in the nuclear area of CA1 and CA3 neurons. It is concluded that the fungus Hericium erinaceus exerted a neuroprotective effect on the neuronal bodies of the hippocampus, associated with better performance in the visuospatial recognition memory test.

A simple arylhydrazone containing the benzothiazole moiety which may be used as an efficient ligand in the palladium-catalyzed Mizoroki-Heck and suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions, under infrared irradiation as an alternative source of energy, is presented. The reactions proceeded with extremely high efficiency under mild conditions and produced very good yields.

Data signals consisting of arbitrarily modulated sequences of pulses are extensively used for processing and communication *** spectral extent of such signals is determined by the bandwidth of the individual pulses in the sequence,which imposes a fundamental limit to the maximum amount of information that can be transmitted or processed per time *** this work,we propose and experimentally demonstrate that the frequency spectrum occupied by a data-modulated pulse sequence can be significantly compressed to well below the individual pulse bandwidth while still maintaining the temporal duration of the pulses in the sequence and without losing any of the information carried by the *** proposed method involves fully reversible linear transformations of the data signal along the time and frequency *** demonstrate successful pulse-shapepreserving spectral compression and subsequent full waveform and information recovery of a^10 Gb/s optical pulse sequence,modulated by an arbitrary data pattern,liberating over 60%of its *** findings should prove useful for applications in signal processing,communications,and others.

This review focuses on the laparoscopic approach to gastrointestinal emergencies and its more recent indications. Laparoscopic surgery has a specific place in elective procedures, but that does not apply in emergency situations. In specific emergencies, there is a huge range of indications and different techniques to apply, and not all of them are equally settle. We consider that the most controversial points in minimally invasive procedures are indications in emergency situations due to technical difficulties. some pathologies, such as oesophageal emergencies, obstruction due to colon cancer, abdominal hernias or incarcerated postsurgical hernias, are nearly always resolved by conventional surgery, that is, an open approach due to limited intraabdominal cavity space or due to the vulnerability of the bowel. These technical problems have been solved in many diseases, such as for perforated peptic ulcer or acute appendectomy for which a laparoscopic approach has become a wellknown and globally supported procedure. On the other hand, endoscopic procedures have acquired further indications, relegating surgical solutions to a second place; this happens in cholangitis or pancreatic abscess drainage. This endoluminal approach avoids the need for laparoscopic development in these diseases. Nevertheless, new instruments and new technologies could extend the laparoscopic approach to a broader array of potentials procedures. There remains, however, a long way to go.
