These results would be considered in the development of the SWNT-based gas sensors.

AIM To examine the effect of combined exercise on colonic transit time(CTT) in admitted psychiatric patients. METHODS Over a 6-mo period, consecutive in patients with mental illness were recruited from the Somang Hospital Psychiatry Unit. A combined exercise program that included 60 min per day of exercise 3 d per week for 12 wk was performed. Physical fitness and CTT of the patients were measured twice before and twice after the exercise program. CTT was measured using a multiple marker technique with a radio-opaque marker. Changes in the exercising patients' CTT and weight-,cardiovascular-and fitness-related parameters were statistically *** After the 12-wk combined exercise intervention, decreased intestinal transit time was observed in all CTTs of the exercise group, including the right CTT(exercise: 15.6 ± 15.2 vs 9.2 ± 11.9, control: 13.1 ± 10.4 vs 10.9 ± 18.7), left CTT(exercise: 19.7 ± 23.5 vs 10.4 ± 13.2, control: 19.2 ± 19.0 vs 16.9 ± 19.8), recto-sigmoid CTT(exercise: 14.3 ± 16.7 vs 6.7 ± 7.9, control: 15.0 ± 14.4 vs 19.3 ± 30.3), and total colonic transit time(TCTT)(exercise: 50.2 ± 38.1 vs 27.1 ± 28.0, control: 47.4 ± 34.6 vs 47.3 ± 47.3). After the 12-wk combined exercise period, TCTT was significantly shortened in the exercise group compared with that in the control group. In addition to eating habits, water intake, and fiber intake, the increased physical activity level as a result of the 12-wk combined exercise program reduced the CTT.

This paper is concerned with the problem of distributed joint state and sensor fault estimation for autonomous ground vehicles subject to unknown-but-bounded(UBB)external disturbance and measurement *** order to improve the estimation reliability and performance in cases of poor data collection and potential communication interruption,a multisensor network configuration is presented to cooperatively measure the vehicular yaw rate,and further compute local state and fault *** this aim,an augmented descriptor vehicle model is first established,where the unknown sensor fault is modeled as an auxiliary state of the system ***,a new distributed ellipsoidal set-membership estimation approach is developed so as to construct an optimized bounding ellipsoidal set which guarantees to contain the vehicle’s true state and the sensor fault at each time step despite the existence of UBB disturbance and measurement ***,a convex optimization algorithm is put forward such that the gain matrix of each distributed estimator can be recursively ***,simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The effects of microstructure of aluminum substrate on regular nanopore arrangement in anodic alumina layer were investigated. The dissimilar microstructure and texture on aluminum sheets were prepared by various cold rollings and heat treatments, and anodic alumina nanoporous layers were fabricated by two step anodizing method at 40 V in oxalic acid solution. For the aluminum sheets with similar surface texture and annealing condition except purity, the regularity of the nanopore arrangement on the anodic alumina layer increased with purity of aluminum substrate. The difference of surface texture on AI sheets is not critical parameter for formation of ordered nanopore array compared with purity and heat treatment of substrate aluminum. The investigation suggested that the purity and reasonable annealing temperature of aluminum substrate are very important process to obtain the highly-ordered nanopore array on anodic alumina layer.

The use of nanofillers with high surface area and extreme purity in polymer composite is an effective strategy to obtain high performance polymeric ***,the effect of nanofillers such as carbon nanotubes(CNT),titanium dioxide(TiO_(2)),and their hybrid on rubber-based composites was *** this study,rubber nanocomposites were fabricated by using room temperature vulcanized(RTV)silicone rubber matrix and nanofillers(***,TiO_(2),and CNT-TiO_(2))through solution casting ***,the purity and surface area of CNT(purity:>96%and BET surface area:300 m2/g)and TiO_(2)(purity:>98%and BET surface area:165 m2/g)were estimated by field emission scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray(FESEM-EDX)and adsorption *** mechanical properties of the rubber nanocomposites were enhanced by incorporating *** compressive modulus was 2.18 MPa for unfilled composites and increased to 6.8 MPa(CNT),3.95 MPa(CNT-TiO_(2)),and 2.44 MPa(TiO_(2))at 5 phr,***,the tensile strength was 0.54 MPa for unfilled composites and increased to 1.37 MPa(CNT),1.33 MPa(CNT-TiO_(2))and 0.61 MPa(TiO_(2))at 5 phr,***,the actuation displacement was improved with increasing input voltage and it was 2 mm for CNT,1.6 mm for CNT-TiO_(2) hybrid and 0.5 mm for TiO_(2) at 10 ***,a series of experiments show the potential application in piezoelectric actuation.

Vehicle Detection in Still Images by Using Boosted Local Feature Detector

Vehicle detectition in still images is a comparatively difficult task. This paper presents a method for this task by using boosted local pattern detector constructed from two local features including Haar-like and oriented gradient features. The whole process is composed of three stages. In the first stage, local appearance features of vehicles and non-vehicle objects are extracted. Haar-tike and oriented gradient features are extracted separately in this stage as local features. In the second stage, Adabeost algorithm is used to select the most discriminative features as weak detectors from the two local feature sets, and a strong local pattern detector is built by the weighted combination of these selected weak detectors. Finally, vehicle detection can be performed in still images by using the boosted strong local feature detector. Experiment results show that the local pattern detector constructed in this way combines the advantages of Haar-like and oriented gradient features, and can achieve better detection results than the detector by using single Haar-like features.

Background: The recently proposed definition of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD) is based on the co-existence of hepatic steatosis with other metabolic disorders, including obesity and metabolic risk abnormalities such as hyperglycemia, high blood pressure and dyslipidemia. This study aimed to assess MAFLD severity according to the presence of metabolic abnormalities and obesity. Methods: Using transient elastography, hepatic steatosis and fibrosis severity were assessed by measuring the controlled attenuation parameter and liver stiffness measurement. A total of 1163 patients with MAFLD were categorized into the following four groups according to metabolic risk abnormalities and obesity presence: non-obese without metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 1;reference group);nonobese with metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 2);obese without metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 3);and obese with metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 4). A multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine severe hepatic steatosis and fibrosis risk in each group in both unadjusted and adjusted models. Results: In the adjusted model, the odds ratios(ORs) [95% confidence interval(CI)] for severe hepatic steatosis in Groups 2, 3, and 4 were 1.07(0.61-1.88), 2.43(1.44-4.08), and 4.07(2.56-6.48), respectively( P trend han metabolic abnormality, is the principal determinant of severe hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in patients with MAFLD.

AIM： To evaluate the effect of incision types for Artisan phakic intraocular lens （PIOL） implantation on ocular higher-order aberrations （HOAs）.METHODS： A retrospective review was conducted of the patients who had undergone Artisan PIOL implantation for the correction of myopia and followed up for at least 6mo. Patients are classified into 2 groups considering the incision type： cornea group with patients undergone clear corneal incision; sclera group with patients undergone sclera tunnel incision. All patients with postoperative astigmatism of under 1 diopter （D） were included to minimize the effect of residual astigmatism on postoperative HOAs. Visual acuity, special equivalents, astigmatism, predictability （±1 D from target refraction）, HOAs （coma, trefoil, spherical aberration）, and corneal endothelial counts were analyzed preoperatively and 6mo ***： At the postoperative 6mo, all patients of both groups achieved uncorrected visual acuity of 16/20 or better, and significantly decreased the spherical equivalents compared with preoperative values. The predictability of refractive correction was 96% in the former, and 94% in the latter. Unlike the sclera group, preoperative astigmatism decreased significantly in cornea group at postoperative 6mo. The HOAs increased significantly at postoperative 6mo compared to the preoperative values in both groups, and the root mean square （RMS） total and trefoil wavefront aberration of cornea group were significantly higher than those of sclera ***： Although corneal incision significantly reduces preexisting astigmatism, the postoperative 6mo of total RMS and trefoil aberration change may deteriorate the visual quality after Artisan PIOL implantation.

The tip vortex cavitation and its relevant noise has been the subject of extensive researches up to now. In most cases of experimental approaches, the accurate and objective decision of cavitation inception is primary, which is the main topic of this paper. Although the conventional power spectrum is normally adopted as a signal processing tool for the analysis of cavitation noise, a faithful exploration cannot be made especially for the cavitation inception. Alternatively, the periodic occurrence of bursting noise induced from tip vortex cavitation gives a diagnostic proof that the repeating frequency of the bursting contents can be exploited as an indication of the inception. This study, hence, employed the Short-Time Fourier Transform （STFT） analysis and the Detection of Envelope Modulation On Noise （DEMON） specmma analysis, both which are appropriate for finding such a repeating frequency. Through the acoustical measurement in a water tunnel, the two signal processing techniques show a satisfactory result in detecting the inception of tip vortex cavitation.
