Sustainable design is emerging as an increasingly important concern for the global urban *** sustainable design is associated with economic,ecological and social aspects with the importance of the physical environment often ignored,particularly in the social ***,the physical and social dimensions should be inseparable in the sustainable development ***,urban designers are emphasizing the link between physical design and sense of community in public open spaces,but there is limited research on the importance of residential streets and associated semi-open public spaces,such as verges,and private spaces,like the front *** the case study method,including observation and a survey in the suburb of Subiaco in Perth,Western Australia,this article explores the significance of residential streets and the space typology of front yards in comparison to other outdoor open space *** analysis of the front yard’s contribution to the street and community can inform designers,developers,planners,policy makers and residents to achieve a more attractive inner city living environment.

Association of visceral obesity and early colorectal neoplasia

AIM:To examine whether visceral adipose tissue(VAT)serves as a risk factor for colorectal adenoma-early colorectal cancer(CRC)***:A retrospective case-control study was conducted with 153 patients with stageⅠCRC,age/sex-matched 554 patients with colorectal adenoma and557 normal *** subjects underwent various laboratory tests,abdominal fat computed tomography(CT),and *** was defined as an intraabdominal adipose tissue area measured by CT *** tissue area was measured at the level of the umbilicus from CT *** used the lowest quartile of VAT and subcutaneous adipose tissue area as a reference ***:The body mass index(BMI),total cholesterol,fasting glucose and VAT areas were significantly different among normal,adenoma and CRC *** VAT area was 120.6±49.0 cm2in normal controls,130.6±58.4 cm2in adenoma group and 117.6±51.6cm2in CRC group(P=0.002).In univariate analysis,increased BMI was a risk factor for CRC compared to control(P=0.025).However,VAT area was not a risk factor for CRC compared to *** multivariate analysis that adjusted for smoking,alcohol consumption and subcutaneous adipose tissue area,VAT area was inversely related to CRC,compared to the adenoma(OR=0.53,95%CI:0.31-0.92,highest quartile vs lowest quartile).CONCLUSION:Our study shows that visceral obesity is not a risk factor for early *** obesity might influence the normal-adenoma sequence but not the adenoma-early carcinoma sequence.

Colonoscopy procedural skills and training for new beginners

The incidence of colorectal cancer has been increasing in the developed world including South Korea and *** allows for greater diagnostic specificity and sensitivity compared with other types of examinations,such as the stool occult blood test,barium enema,and computed tomography ***,in recent years,the demand for colonoscopies has grown *** beginners including primary care physicians may help meet the increasing demand by performing ***,it is a challenge to learn the procedure due to the long learning-curve and the high rate of complications,such as perforation and bleeding,as compared to ***,considerable training and experience are required for optimal performance of *** order to perform a complete colonoscopic examination,there were a few important thingsto learn and remember,such as the position of examinee(e.g.,left and right decubitus,supine,and prone)and examiner(two-man method vs one-man standing method vs one-man sitting method),basic skills(e.g.,tip deflection,push forward and pull back,torque,air suction and insufflation),advanced skills(e.g.,jiggling and shaking,right and left turn shortening,hooking,and slide-by technique),assisting skills(e.g.,position change of examinee,abdominal compression,breathing-holding,and liquid-infusion technique),and intubation techniques along the lower gastrointestinal *** this article,we attempt to describe the methods of insertion and advancement of the colonoscope to the new beginners including primary care *** believe that this article may be helpful to the new beginners who wish to learn the procedure.

BACKGROUND Primary non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of the frontal sinus is extremely *** addition,Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)has been reported to play a role in the development of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-related malignant *** the best of our knowledge,there is no report for the HIVassociated,EBV-positive primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)in the frontal *** SUMMARY We present a unique case of HIV-associated,EBV-positive DLBCL in the frontal sinus in a 46-year-old *** tomography of paranasal sinuses revealed dense opacification of the right frontal sinus with combined soft tissue *** on the clinical and radiological findings,the initial diagnosis was complicated frontal sinusitis,presenting Pott’s puffy ***,HIV testing was positive on preoperative laboratory test,and the frontal sinus lesion was confirmed as EBV-positive DLBCL on *** Through this article,we suggest that EBV-positive DLBCL should be considered as possible diagnosis for patients with nonspecific space-occupying lesion of the paranasal *** also highlight an importance of clinical suspicion in diagnosing HIV infection because HIV serology is not routinely tested in patients with paranasal sinus problem.

The layeredδ-MnO_(2)(dMO)is an excellent cathode material for rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries owing to its large interlayer distance(~0.7 nm),high capacity,and low cost;however,such cathodes suffer from structural degradation during the long-term cycling process,leading to capacity *** this study,a Co-doped dMO composite with reduced graphene oxide(GC-dMO)is developed using a simple cost-effective hydrothermal *** degree of disorderness increases owing to the hetero-atom doping and graphene oxide *** is demonstrated that layered dMO and GC-dMO undergo a structural transition from K-birnessite to the Zn-buserite phase upon the first discharge,which enhances the intercalation of Zn^(2+)ions,H_(2)O molecules in the layered *** GC-dMO cathode exhibits an excellent capacity of 302 mAh g^(-1)at a current density of 100 mAg^(-1)after 100 cycles as compared with the dMO cathode(159 mAhg^(-1)).The excellent electrochemical performance of the GC-dMO cathode owing to Co-doping and graphene oxide sheets enhances the interlayer gap and disorderness,and maintains structural stability,which facilitates the easy reverse intercalation and de-intercalation of Zn^(2+)ions and H_(2)O ***,GC-dMO is a promising cathode material for large-scale aqueous ZIBs.

Comparison on colonoscopic parameters according to length of adult-colonoscope

Background High success rate of intubation and short intubation time have been needed to endoscopists for a complete and comfortable coolonoscopy,if *** purpose of present study was to compare procedure efficiencies according to adult-colonoscope *** This was a prospective,randomized,single-blinded controlled trial.A total of 239 healthy Korean subjects were randomly assigned to two groups：one group receiving intermediate-length adult-colonoscope （n=119）,and the other group receiving long-length adult-colonoscope （n=120）.Cecal intubation time and rate,and terminal ileal intubation time and rate as well as other procedure-related outcomes （adenoma detection rate,withdrawal time,and total procedure time） were *** There were significant differences in cecal intubation time and terminal ileal intubation rate according to colonoscope *** time of cecal intubation was shorter in the intermediate-scope group than that in the long-scope group （（222.13±101.67） s vs.（253.85±109.40） s,P=-0.014）.However,the rate of terminal ileal intubation was higher in the long-scope group than that in the intermediate-scope group （94.2％ vs.83.2％,P=-0.007）.In addition,terminal ileal intubation time was also shorter in the long-scope group than that in the intermediate-scope group （（35.21±38.89） s vs.（44.09±33.87） s,P ＜0.001）.There were no significant differences in other procedure-related outcomes between the two *** The intermediate-length adult-colonoscope had an advantage over the long-length adult-colonoscope regarding cecal intubation time,whereas the long-scope had an advantage over the intermediate-scope regarding the rate and time of terminal ileal *** results suggest that it is rational to prepare and use these two types of colonoscope properly,instead of employing only one type of colonoscope.

The incidence of gastric cancer remains high in *** gastrointestinal(GI) endoscopy,i.e.,esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD),has a higher diagnostic specificity and sensitivity than the upper GI ***,EGD has the ability to biopsy,through taking a tissue of the pathologic *** training of EGD procedural skills require a few important things to be learned and remembered,including the posture of an examinee(e.g.,left lateral decubitus and supine) and examiner(e.g.,one-man standing method vs one-man sitting method),basic skills(e.g.,tip deflection,push forward and pull back,and air suction and infusion),advanced skills(e.g.,paradoxical movement,J-turn,and U-turn),and intubation techniques along the upper GI tract(e.g.,oral cavity,pharynx,larynx including vocal cord,upper and middle and lower esophagus,gastroesophageal junction,gastric fundus,body,and antrum,duodenal bulb,and descending part of duodenum).In the current review,despite several limitations,we explained the intubation method of EGD for *** hope this will be helpful to beginners who wish to learn the procedure.

Evaluation of the relationship between two different methods for enumeration fecal indicator bacteria: Colony-forming unit and most probable number

Most probable number （MPN） and colony-forming unit （CFU） estimates of fecal indicator bacteria （FIB） concentration are common measures of water quality in aquatic environments. Thus, FIB intensively monitored in Yeongsan Watershed in an attempt to compare two different methods and to develop a statistical model to convert from CFU to MPN estimates or vice versa. As a result, the significant difference was found in the MPN and CFU estimates. The enumerated Escherichia coli concentrations in MPN are greater than those in CFU, except for the measurement in winter. Especially in fall, E. coli concentrations in MPN are one order of magnitude greater than that in CFU. Contrarily, enterococci bacteria in MPN are lower than those in CFU. However, in general, a strongly positive relationship are found between MPN and CFU estimates. Therefore, the statistical models were developed, and showed the reasonable converting FIB concentrations from CFU estimates to MPN estimates. We expect this study will provide preliminary information towards future research on whether different analysis methods may result in different water quality standard violation frequencies for the same water sample.

OBJECTIVE: To quantitatively evaluate the therapeutic effects of Red Liriope platyphylla(RLP) on atopic dermatitis(AD), alterations in the luciferase(Luc) signal and general phenotype biomarkers were compared in phthalic anhydride(PA) treated Interleukin-4(IL-4)/Luc/Consensus non-coding sequence-1(CNS-1) transgenic(Tg) mice following treatment with aqueous extract of RLP(AEt RLP) for4 ***: Alterations in AD phenotypes were measured in IL-4/Luc/CNS-1 Tg mice following treatment with AEt RLP using inflammation parameter analysis, bioluminescence imaging analysis, histological analysis, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot ***: RLP contained high concentrations of total phenolic compounds, total flavonoid compounds and 5-HNE related to AD therapy. The Luc signal was only detected in the abdominal region and the submandibular lymph node(SL), mesenteric lymph node(ML), thymus and pancreas of the PA treated group. This signal was significantly decreased by 28%-73% throughout the body and in the four organs in PA + AEt RLP treated group. Furthermore, the lymph node weight, immunoglobulin E concentration and dermal thickness were decreased by 37%-67% in the PA + AEt RLP treated ***: Our findings suggest that the therapeutic effect of AEt RLP on PA induced AD could be successfully quantified by comparison of Luc signals and AD phenotype markers in IL-4/Luc/CNS-1Tg mice, and that the Luc signal was as sensitive as the general AD phenotypes, enabling detection of effects without euthanasia.
