Hydroxyapatite(HA)is a representative substance that induces bone *** research team extracted nanohydroxyapatite(EH)from natural resources,especially equine bones,and developed it as a molecular biological ***(PEI)was used to coat the EH to develop a gene *** verify that PEI is well coated in the EH,we first observed the morphology and dispersity of PEI-coated EH(pEH)by electron *** pEH particles were well distributed,while only the EH particles were not distributed and ***,the existence of nitrogen elements of PEI on the surface of the pEH was confirmed by EDS,calcium concentration measurement and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).Additionally,the pEH was confirmed to have a more positive charge than the 25 kD PEI by comparing the zeta *** a result of pGL3 transfection,pEH was better able to transport genes to cells than 25 kD *** verification as a gene carrier for pEH,we induced osteogenic differentiation of DPSCs by loading the BMP-2 gene in pEH(BMP-2/pEH)and delivering it to the *** a result,it was confirmed that osteogenic differentiation was promoted by showing that the expression of osteopontin(OPN),osteocalcin(OCN),and runt-related transcription factor 2(RUNX2)was significantly increased in the group treated with BMP-2/*** conclusion,we have not only developed a novel nonviral gene carrier that is better performing and less toxic than 25 kD PEI by modifying natural HA(the agricultural byproduct)but also proved that bone differentiation can be effectively promoted by delivering BMP-2 with pEH to stem cells.

Scrub typhus is an acute febrile disease caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi （0. tsutsugamushi）. We report herein the case of a woman who presented with fever and elevated serum levels of liver enzymes and who was definitively diagnosed with scrub typhus by his- topathological examination of liver biopsy specimens, serological tests and nested polymerase chain reaction. Immunohistochemical staining using a monoclonal an- ti-O. tsutsugamushi antibody showed focally scattered positive immunoreactions in the cytoplasm of some hepatocytes. This case suggests that scrub typhus hepatitis causes mild focal inflammation due to direct liver damage without causing piecemeal necrosis or interface hepatitis. Thus, scrub typhus hepatitis differs from acute viral hepatitis secondary to liver damage due to host immune responses, which causes severe Iobular disarray with diffuse hepatocytic degeneration, necrosis and apoptosis as well as findings indicative of hepatic cholestasis, such as hepatic bile plugs or brown pigmentation of hepatocytes.

Analysis of demographic characteristics in 3242 young age gastric cancer patients in Korea

AIM:To evaluate the epidemiologic features of young age gastric cancer(GC). METHODS:Retrospectively,a total of 3242 patients with GC between 18 and 45 years of age and 3000 sex-and age-matched controls were *** subjects were stratified into 3 groups based on age (A,18-30 years;B,31-40 years;C,41-45 years). Epidemiologic characteristics and risk factors were investigated with reference to their age and gender. RESULTS:Compared to controls,more frequent intake of high risk diet(P=0.00075),history of heavy smoking(P=0.00087),intake of heavy alcohol(P= 0.00091),lower social economic status(P=0.00083), body mass index>30(P=0.00097),urban residence(P=0.00065),and more frequent exposure to harmful occupational environments(P=0.00072)were observed in all age groups and both genders in young age *** relationships were weaker in females compared to males of the same age,and were stronger as the age of patients ***,in group C of young age GC patients,environmental factors played important roles in females and males with a similar body *** females,older age at first delivery(> 35 years),lack of lactation history,nulliparity,and poor nutritional status during pregnancy were significantly associated with an increased risk of GC(P=0.00034). In this study,252 patients(7.8%)had a family history of GC with high odds ratio(OR)(3.22-4.21).In particular, family history was more closely associated with GC in males(OR,4.21 in male vs 3.46 in female)and more advanced cases(P=0.00051). CONCLUSION:Hormonal associated factors were more commonly associated with females whereas environmental factors were more commonly associated with males in young age GC patients.

Objective: Precision medicine approaches emphasize the importance of reliable prognostic tools for guiding individualized therapy decisions. In this study, we evaluated the clinical feasibility of the single patient classifier(SPC) test, a new clinical-grade prognostic assay, in stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ gastric cancer ***: A prospective multicenter study was conducted, involving 237 patients who underwent gastrectomy between September 2019 and August 2020 across nine hospitals. The SPC test was employed to stratify patients into risk groups, and its feasibility and performance were evaluated. The primary endpoint was the proportion of the cases in which the test results were timely delivered before selecting postoperative treatment. Furthermore, 3-year disease-free survivals of risk groups were ***: The SPC test met the primary endpoint criteria. The 99.5% of SPC tests were timely delivered to hospitals before the postoperative treatment started. In a clinical setting, the median time from the specimen transfer to laboratory to the result delivery to hospital was 4 d. Furthermore, 3-year disease-free survivals were significantly different between risk groups classified with SPC ***: This study highlights the SPC test's feasibility in offering crucial information timely delivered for making informed decisions regarding postoperative treatment strategies. It also provides evidence to support the implementation of a future prospective clinical trial aimed at evaluating the clinical utility of the SPC test in guiding personalized treatment decisions for gastric cancer patients.

Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Miniscalpel-Needle Treatment for Tension-Type Headache:A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of miniscalpel-needle(MSN)treatment for tension-type headache(TTH).Method:Seven medical databases were searched to identify randomized controlled trials(RCTs)evaluating the effect and safety of MSN *** articles published up to November 15,2018 were retrieved.A meta-analysis was conducted for the included studies,and the risk of bias was *** outcomes were visual analogue scale(VAS)or numeric rating scale(NRS)*** outcomes were clinical effective rates including total effective rate(TER),markedly effective rate(MER),and totally cured rate(TCR)determined by improvement in clinical symptoms or VAS scores,the frequency of adverse events(AEs)that occurred during the study,and participant quality of life(QOL).Results:Seven RCTs involving 724 participants were *** treatment showed significantly higher MER and TCR[relative risk(RR)1.27,95%confidence interval(Cl)1.01 to 1.61;RR 1.31,95%Cl 1.09 to 1.57,respectively],but not TER(RR 1.03,95%Cl 0.96 to 1.10)compared to *** treatment plus conventional treatment showed significant lower VAS and higher TER,MER,and TCR(mean difference-3.54,95%Cl-3.80 to-3.28;RR 1.14,95%Cl 1.06 to 1.23;RR 2.31,95%Cl 1.50 to 3.58;RR 3.01,95%Cl 2.25 to 4.02,respectively)compared to conventional ***:According to current evidence,MSN treatment as a monotherapy or as an adjunctive treatment to other existing treatments might have benefits on treating ***,since the number and the sample size of studies included were both small and the methodological quality was poor,the findings of this review should be interpreted with great caution,and our confidence in the results is low.A high quality RCT using objective outcomes should be performed on this topic.

Background: Acupotomy, a more invasive procedure than acupuncture, involves the use of a thicker needle with an integrated knife at the tip, necessitating safety research. We aimed to define relevant adverse events(AEs) and create a standardized form of the ACUPOtomy-related AEs CHECKlist(ACUPOCHECK).Methods: Before conducting the Delphi process, a systematic review and pilot prospective study were conducted to gather information on previously reported AEs. Using these data, pilot versions of the ACUPOCHECK and Delphi questionnaires were developed. The Delphi questionnaire involved selecting types of AE for inclusion, establishing separate criteria for acupotomy-related AEs, and achieving a consensus on AE assessment. Thirteen Korean doctors with experience in acupotomy or AE research were recruited to participate in each Delphi round. Consensus was considered to have been reached if the critical value for the content validity ratio met or exceeded ***: The final ACUPOCHECK was developed using four rounds of the Delphi method and one face-toface consensus meeting. It included 12 local AEs(pain, hemorrhage, bruise, hematoma, edema, pruritus,rash, infection, nerve damage, dysesthesia, movement impairment, and pneumothorax) and 14 systemic AEs(disease aggravation, needle fatigue, sleepiness, procedural nausea, procedural vomiting, procedural headache, procedural dizziness, sweating, procedural shock, syncope, dyspnea, procedural pain, sleep disorder, and postprocedural infection). Separate criteria were established for pain, hemorrhage and bruising: pain was defined as pain that occurrs during daily activities and persists for longer than 72 h,hemorrhage as bleeding that continues for ≥ 3 min despite pressure application, and bruising as having a bruise with a diameter of ≥ 3 cm. Stand development patterns of forest cover types in the natural forests of northern Baekdudaegan in South Korea

The purpose of this study was to classify current forest cover types,and to investigate stand development patterns for natural forests in six areas in northern Baekdudaegan,South ***-eight independent forest communities were aggregated into eight forest cover types by species composition in the overstory of each forest *** forest cover types were of mixed mesophytic,‘‘others’ ’ deciduous,Quercus mongolica dominant,*** pure,Pinus densiflora–***,***,Betula ermanii,and ***–*** ecological information was organized by importance value and species diversity for each forest *** on the correlation between species diversity index and the abundance of *** plus *** for corresponding forest cover types,we compared the developmental process and approximate successional pathway between each cover *** *** forest cover type changes into the ***–*** cover type,followed by the *** dominant cover type through continuous invasion of the oak ***,the *** pure cover type would spread toward the *** dominant cover type with a mixture of various deciduous tree *** *** dominant cover type progresses through the other deciduous cover types to the mixed mesophytic cover type with diversified composition and *** the mid to lower slopes,with loamy soils and good moisture conditions,various deciduous forest types should progress,by ecological succession,toward the mixed mesophytic cover type without any further disturbance.

Experimental and Modeling Studies on the Chemical Vapor Infiltration with Respect to the Effects of Thermal Gradient and Other Operating Parameters

Effects of operating parameters in the thermal gradient chemical vapor infiltration of propane such as thermal gradient, diffusion, infiltrations time, and concentration of propane were studied by focusing on the visualizations of the intrinsic effects of these parameters. A uniform deposition in the preform was obtained with a gradually increasing temperature along the gas flow. The uniformity of deposition through the preform got improved with increasing deposition time. Results of numerical modeling estimated the experimental data very well when the pre-exponential factor of the overall rate of carbon deposition from propane reported by Vaidyaraman[1] was multiplied by 4. The average density of a preform increased by about 3 times from 0.38 to 1.15 g/cm3 after 60 hr deposition with a thermal gradient under the conditions of 3% propane in nitrogen and 840 to 900 ℃.

Piezoelectric nanogenerators(PENGs)and triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)are representative technologies that can harvest mechanical *** general,piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generators can harvest considerable energy with a limited input;however,PENGs and TENGs entail different requirements for harvesting ***,PENGs produce a large output when a large mechanical strain is applied,and TENGs require a large surface area to produce a high ***,it is necessary to develop an innovative strategy in terms of the structural design to satisfy the requirements of both PENGs and *** this study,we developed a triangulated cylinder origami-based piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generator(TCOHG)with an origami structure to enable effective energy *** proposed structure consists of a vertical contactseparation TENG on the surface of the triangulated cylinder,PENG on the inner hinge,and rotational TENG on the top substrate to harvest mechanical energy from each *** generator could produce a separate electrical output with a single *** TCO-HG could charge a 22μF commercial capacitor and power 60 LEDs when operated.
