Ceramics based on(Na_(1/2)B_(1/2))TiO_(3) are promising candidates for actuator applications because of large strains generated by an electric field-induced phase *** example,the(1-x)(Na_(1/2)Bi_(1/2))TiO_(3)-xSrTiO_(3) system exhibits a morphotropic phase boundary at x=0.2-0.3,leading to high values of inverse piezoelectric constant d_(33),which can be further improved by the use of single *** our previous work,single crystals of (Na_(1/2)B_(1/2))TiO_(3)-SrTiO_(3) and (Na_(1/2)Bi_(1/2))TiO_(3)-TiO_(3) were grown by the solid state crystal growth *** in the(Nai/2Bi/2)TiO3-SrTiO3 system was sluggish whereas the (Na_(1/2)B_(1/2))TiO_(3)-CaTiO_(3) single crystals grew *** the present work,0.8(Na_(1/2)Bi_(1/2))Ti0_(3)-0.2(Sr_(1-x)Ca_(x))Ti0_(3) single crystals(with x=0.0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4)were produced by the solid state crystal growth technique in an attempt to improve crystal growth *** dependence of mean matrix grain size,single crystal growth distance,and electrical properties on the Ca concentration was investigated in *** investigations indicated that at x=0.3 the matrix grain growth was suppressed and the driving force for single crystal growth was *** Sr with Ca increased the shoulder temperature T_(s) and temperature of maximum relative permittivity T_(max),causing a decrease in inverse piezoelectric properties and a change from normal to incipient ferroelectric behavior.

The electrochemical properties of a friction stir processed(FSPed)equiatomic CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy(HEA)was investigated in an aerated 0.5 M Na_(2)SO_(4) electrolyte solution at room *** microstructural analysis reveals a highly refined stir zone(SZ)with an average grain size that decreases from the top region of the SZ to the bottom region of the SZ(also known as shear-processed zone;SPZ).However,the region below the SPZ,(*** the plunge depth)experienced an increase in average grain size and dislocation densities compared to the other *** is no secondary phase observed in the FSPed region,however,the microstructural evolution in the FSPed region affects the electrochemical behavior of the ***_(2)O_(3) passive layer was observed to form on the FSPed HEA,leading to excellent corrosion properties from the polarization corrosion *** refinement in the SZ enhances the rapid formation of the passive layer,thus,leading to better corrosion properties in the front surface of the FSPed *** localized corrosion behavior of the FSPed HEA was predicted to be caused by the micro-galvanic nature of the HEA,which leads to an increase in polarization at the anodic sites(pits).A numerical model was established using the corrosion parameters from the experiment to simulate the localized corrosion behavior on the surface of the FSPed HEA in a neutral *** predicted initial pitting potential and corresponding current density agree well with the experimental *** model is also capable of tracking the dissolution of the pits over longer periods.

Precise control of surface oxygen vacancies in ZnO nanoparticles for extremely high acetone sensing response

ZnO has been studied intensely for chemical sensors due to its high sensitivity and fast ***,we present a simple approach to precisely control oxygen vacancy contents to provide significantly enhanced acetone sensing performance of commercial ZnO nanopowders.A combination of H_(2)O_(2)treatment and thermal annealing produces optimal surface defects with oxygen vacancies on the ZnO nanoparticles(NPs).The highest response of~27,562 was achieved for 10 ppm acetone in 0.125 MH_(2)O_(2)treated/annealed ZnO NPs at the optimal working temperature of 400℃,which is significantly higher than that of reported so far in various acetone sensors based on metal oxide semiconductors(MOSs).Furthermore,first-principles calculations indicate that pre-adsorbed O formed on the surface of H_(2)O_(2)treated ZnO NPs can provide favorable adsorption energy,especially for acetone detection,due to strong bidentate bonding between carbonyl C atom of acetone molecules and pre-adsorbed O on the ZnO *** study demonstrates that controlling surface oxygen vacancies by H_(2)O_(2)treatment and re-annealing at optimal temperature is an effective method to improve the sensing properties of commercial MOS materials.

Immunosuppressant treatment for IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis: A case report

Species delimitation in the green algal genus Codium (Bryopsidales) from Korea using DNA barcoding

Codium, one of the largest marine green algal genera, is difficult to delimit species boundary accurately based on morphological identification only. DNA barcoding is a powerful tool for discriminating species of seaweeds. The plastid elongation factor TU （tufA） is considered as maker to perform DNA barcoding of green algal species than rbcL gene due to universality and rapid evolution rate. We conducted DNA barcoding application to Codium specimens from the Jeju Island, Korea to overcome the limit of morphological identification and to confirm the species diversity. As a result of applying tufA marker, we newly generated fifty-five tufA barcodes to resolve eight species. TufA marker exhibited 6.1%–21.8% interspecific divergences, wider than the gap of rbcL exon 1, 3.5%–11.5%. Molecular analysis of rbcL exon 1 sequences of Codium revealed eight distinct species like tufA analysis separated in five phylogenetic groups. DNA barcoding of the genus Codium using tufA marker is more helpful to overcome the limit of morphological identification, and this is more potential to reveal cryptic species and to resolve the relationships among subspecies than rbcL analysis alone. The complement of tufA barcoding and rbcL analyses including morphology for the genus Codium in the northwestern Pacific will give much more reliable achievement for discovering species diversity and resolving the phylogenetic relationships.

p73 G4C14 to A4T14 polymorphism is associated with colorectal cancer risk and survival

AIM:To analyze the association between the p73 G4C14-to-A4T14 polymorphism(a.k.a.,the GC/AT variation) and colorectal cancer risk and survival in the Korean population,and to evaluate the relationships between p73 polymorphism and the p73 protein expression or clinicopathological characteristics of colorectal ***:Three hundred and eighty-three histologically confirmed cases and 469 healthy controls,recruited at one teaching hospital in Pusan,Korea from 2001 and 2007,were genotyped for p73 G4C14-to-A4T14 by PCR with confronting two-pair primers(PCR-CTPP) and the expression profile of p73 in cancer tissues(n=383) was analyzed by ***:Odds ratios(ORs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) were calculated by unconditional logistic regression model adjusted for age and *** with the GC/GC genotypes,the GC/AT and AT/AT genotypes were significantly associated with colorectal cancer risk(GC/AT vs GC/GC:OR = 1.46,95% CI:1.10-1.94;AT/AT vs GC/GC:1.72,0.98-3.03;Ptrend=0.01).When stratified by age and gender,the association was restricted to those less than 60 years of age(GC/AT or AT/AT vs GC/GC:2.22,1.39-3.55) and male(GC/AT or AT/AT vs GC/GC:1.91,1.31-2.77).The expression of p73 was associated with invasion depth(P = 0.003) and advanced Duke's stage(P = 0.06) of colorectal *** patients with the GC/GC genotype were associated with worse survival compared with those with the other genotypes(P = 0.02).However,no signif icant relationship was observed between the p73 G4C14-to-A4T14 polymorphism and p73 protein expression in cancer ***:Our results suggest that the p73 GC/AT polymorphism is associated with an increased colorectal cancer risk and survival in the Korean population.

Cloning,expression in Escherichia coli,and enzymatic properties of laccase from Aeromonas hydrophila WL-11

A strain WL-11 with high laccase activity was isolated from activated sludge collected from the effluent treatment plant of a textile and dyeing industry. It was identified as Aeromonas hydrophila by physiological test and 16S rDNA sequence analysis. A gene encoding of laccase from a newly isolated Aeromonas hydrophila WL-11 was cloned and characterized. Nucleotide sequence analysis showed an open reading frame of 1605 bp encoding a polypeptide comprised of 534 amino acids. The primary structure of the enzyme predicted the structural features characteristic of other laccases, including the conserved regions of four histidine-rich copper-binding sites. The predicted amino acid sequence showed a high homology （more than 60%） with bacterial laccases in the genome and protein databases and the highest degree of similarity （61% identity） was observed with the multicopper oxidase of KlebsieUa sp. 601. When expressed in Escherichia coli, the recombinant enzyme was overproduced in the cytoplasm as soluble and active form. The purified enzyme had an optimum pH of 2.6 and 8.0 for ABTS （2,2＇-azino-bis（3-ethylbenzthiazolinesulfonic acid） and DMP （2,6-dimethoxyphenol）, respectively. The kinetic study on ABTS revealed a higher affinity of this enzyme to this substrate than DMP.

Environmental influence in the forested area toward human health: incorporating the ecological environment into art psychotherapy

This study on the development of a psychotherapy program based on the relationship between forests and human health focused on actively considering the natural ecological environment. This study categorized and compared an art psychotherapy program that simply moved to an outdoor space and a forest-art therapy program that actively utilized the forest environment as a medium. The characteristics of the natural environment, such as openness, change, and diversity, shortened the amount of time participants took to develop a rapport and open up and played a vital role in recovering mental health. After a bold attempt at integrating forest environment and art psychotherapy by going beyond outdoor art therapy, there were significant results pertaining to improvements in mental disorders in today’s society, including stress vulnerabilities, depression, anxiety, and aggression. The research results verified that the developed forest-art therapy method had greater efficacy in relation to both the Stress Vulnerability-Interpersonal Sensitivity Scale and the Stress Vulnerability-Self-Regulation Scale.

Interventional urethral balloon dilatation before endoscopic visual internal urethrotomy for post-traumatic bulbous urethral stricture:A case report

BACKGROUND While several treatment options are available for pediatric urethral strictures,the appropriate treatment must be based on several *** endoscopic visual internal urethrotomy(EVIU)could be a first-line treatment option for short pediatric urethral strictures,it is not feasible if the urethroscope cannot pass through the stricture ***,we present a pediatric case of severe posttraumatic bulbous urethral stricture that was successfully treated by EVIU after securing the urethral route via interventional balloon *** SUMMARY A 12-year-old boy presented at our outpatient clinic with the inability to *** had sustained a straddle injury three months *** post-void residual urine volume was 644 mL,and retrograde urethrography confirmed severe stricture of the bulbous *** was planned;however,the first attempt to treat the stricture failed because the urethroscope could not pass through the stricture *** urethral route was subsequently secured via balloon dilatation of the stricture,which was performed in collaboration with specialists from the department of interventional *** urethroscope was then able to pass,and the repeat EVIU was *** Interventional urethral balloon dilatation before EVIU may help secure the urethral route in the treatment of pediatric urethral strictures.
