Bimetallic Fe/Ni-based metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with different Fe/Ni ratios were coated on TiO_(2)nanorods(NRs),and the performances of the heterojunction photoanodes in photoelectrochemical water splitting were *** bandgaps and band positions of the MOFs could be modulated by changing the ratio of the Fe and Ni *** ideal band alignment was achieved between the TiO_(2)NRs and bimetallic MOFs with an optimum ratio of[Fe]/[Ni]=0.25/0.75,which allowed efficient light absorption and charge *** coating of NH_(2)-MIL(Fe)-88 layer on the TiO_(2)NRs decreased the photocurrent density by 33%.In comparison,TiO_(2)/NH_(2)-MIL(Ni)-88 showed a modest improvement in photocurrent density(0.85 mA·cm^(−2)at 1.23 V vs.a reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)).When bimetallic NH_(2)-MIL(Fe_(0.25)Ni_(0.75))-88 was coated on the TiO_(2)NRs,the photocurrent density reached 1.56 mA·cm^(−2),which was an efficiency enhancement of 3.2 *** mechanism underlying high photoelectrochemical performance was investigated.

The characteristics of local heat transfer and pressure drops were experimentally investigated using condensing R134a two-phase flow, in single rectangular tubes, with hydraulic diameter of 0.494, 0.658, and 0.972 mm. New experimental techniques were used to measure the in-tube condensation heat transfer coefficient especially for the low heat and mass flows. Tests were performed for a mass flux of 100, 200, 400, and 600 kg/m2s, a heat flux of 5 to 20 kW/m2, and a saturation temperature of 40℃. In this study, effect of heat flux, mass flux, vapor qualities, and hydraulic diameter on flow condensation were investigated and the experimental local condensation heat transfer coefficients and frictional pressure drop are shown. The experimental data of condensation Nusselt number are compared with previous correlations, most of which are proposed for the condensation of pure refrigerant in a relatively large inner diameter round tubes.

Host immune responses, such as those initiated by pattern recognition receptor (PRR) activation, are important for viralclearance and pathogenesis. However, little is known about the interactions of viral proteins with surface PRRs or, moreimportantly, the association of innate immune activation with viral pathogenesis. In this study, we showed that internalinfluenza virus proteins were released from infected cells. Among these proteins, nucleoprotein (NP) played a critical role inviral pathogenesis by stimulating neighboring cells through toll-like receptor (TLR)2, TLR4, and the NLR family pyrin domaincontaining 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome. Through the activation of these PRRs, NP induced the production of interleukin (IL)-1β andIL-6, which subsequently led to the induction of trypsin. Trypsin induced by NP increased the infectivity of influenza virus,leading to increases in viral replication and pathology upon subsequent viral infection. These results reveal the role of releasedNP in influenza pathogenesis and highlight the importance of the interactions of internal viral proteins with PRRs in theextracellular compartment during viral pathogenesis.

α-Glucosidase inhibitors are used therapeutically to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus. Through a bioassay-guided fractionation technique, three carotenoids,(all-E)-lutein,(all-E)-zeaxanthin and(9-Z)-zeaxanthin, were purified from the green alga Chlorella ellipsoidea, in which(all-E)-lutein and(9-Z)-zeaxanthin had potent α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. IC_(50) values of(all-E)-lutein and(9-Z)-zeaxanthin were 70 and 53.5 μmol L^(-1) against Saccharomyces cerevisiae α-glucosidase, respectively, with non-competitive inhibition. In addition, IC_(50) values of(9-Z)-zeaxanthin against Bacillus stearothermophilus and rat-intestinal α-glucosidase were 805.1 and 671.2 μmol L^(-1), respectively. The K_i values of(all-E)-lutein and(9-Z)-zeaxanthin against S. cerevisiae α-glucosidase were 78.1 and 16.5 μmol L^(-1), respectively. Therefore, C. ellipsoidea carotenoids might be utilized as a novel candidate to prevent type-2 diabetes mellitus related disorders in food and medical industry.

Postprandial hyperglycemia is an early indication of type 2 diabetes and the target of many anti-diabetic and anti-obesity studies.α-Glucosidase and α-amylase are the crucial factors in regulating starch digestion and glucose absorption,making them key targets for many studies to treat postprandial *** studied the inhibitory activities of microalgal fucoxanthin against rat-intestinalα-glucosidase and pancreaticα-amylase along with the antidiabetic eff ect to induce diff erentiation in 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes using Oil Red-O *** displayed strong hindrance activities towardα-amylase in a concentration-dependent manner,with an IC50 value of 0.68mmol/L,whereas weak inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase,with an IC 50 value of 4.75 mmol/*** also considerably elevated glucose oxidase activity in 3T3-L1 cells by 31.3%at 5μmol/*** adipocyte differentiation,fucoxanthin showed lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 cells with no cytotoxicity up to 20μmol/***,fucoxanthin had no inhibitory activity on glucose-6-phosphate *** results suggest that fucoxanthin might be useful for the prevention of obesity or diabetes by inhibiting carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes and lipid accumulation and be utilized as an ingredient for a functional food or dietary supplement.

A new MPS(Moving Particle Semi-implicit)method is developed to simulate the behaviors and interactions of multiple fine solid particles as a *** fluid particles are affected by viscosity,so solid particles are affected by *** solid particle dynamics for landslides,dumping,and gravity sorting *** can be difficult to simulate using conventional MPS methods,are modeled in this paper using the developed multi-solid-particle MPS method that benefits from drawing comparisons with the corresponding fluid particle *** present MPS results for dumping solid particles are verified against the corresponding DEM(Discrete Element Method)*** shape and angle of repose for solid particles are shown to be highly dependent on the friction coefficient between *** peculiar phenomenon of segregated lamination(gravity sorting)among grains of different densities has been successfully reproduced using the multi-solid-particle MPS *** quality is found to be dependent on the densities and frictional coefficients of the constituent *** behavior of heterogeneous mixtures of multiple solid and liquid particles are also compared and *** newly developed tool offers a window into the physical dynamics of sedimentology that the broader geoscience community might benefit from.

The present article reports the experimental Particle Image Velocimetry （PIV） investigation and the corresponding numerical simulation results about the water flow over the oscillating hydrofoil and its unsteady dynamic characters. The experimental study focuses on the effect of mean angles of attack. The comparison between the PIV results and numerical prediction about the flow field using Fluent well demonstrates the capability of CFD on the simulation of the water flow around the pitching hydrofoil. The numerical results indicate that the forced oscillating frequencies have evident effects on the flow separation and vortex shedding. The simulations about the hydrodynamic drag and lift coefficients were also performed.

This paper presents dynamic-behavior comparisons and related forensic analyses of a submerged floating tunnel(SFT)between numerical simulation and physical experiment under regular and irregular *** experiments are conducted in the 3Dwave tank with 1:33.3 scale,and the corresponding coupled time-domain simulation tool is devised for *** entire SFT systemconsists of a long concrete tunnel and 12 tubular aluminummooring *** numerical simulation models,the Cummins equation with 3D potential theory including second-order wave-body interaction effects and the much simpler Morison-equation-based formula with the lumped-massbased line model,are designed and *** analyses for mooring-line adjustments in the simulation are carried out in view of the best representation of the physical *** that,the measured pre-tension distribution and systemstiffness of twelvemooring lines arewell reproduced in the ***,the dynamic responses and mooring tensions of the SFT are compared under regular and irregular *** measured and simulated results coincide reasonably well for both regular-and irregular-wave conditions.
