Studies from the Far East have demonstrated that D2-dissection is superior to D0/1-dissection. The effect of postoperative chemoradiotherapy(CRT) after D2-dissection has not been accepted due to the lack of D2-dissection in Western countries, as well as the potential harmful effect of radiotherapy. In the current NCCN guideline, adjuvant chemotherapy alone is recommended in D2-dissected patients. However, three recent prospective randomized controlled trials in South Korea and China(ARTIST, NCC and Multicenter IMRT Trials) demonstrated that adjuvant CRT can be safely administered to D2-dissected patients with notable benefits. To identify the role of radiotherapy(RT) in the D2-dissected postoperative setting, clinical research attempts should include(1) identification of high-risk patients for loco-regional recurrence who might benefit from CRT;(2) modification of RT target volume based on the findings that failure patterns should be different after D1- and D2-dissection; and(3) integration of new RT techniques to decrease treatment-related toxicity. The present paper is a review of recent studies addressing these fields. Well-designed prospective randomized studies are needed to clearly define the role of adjuvant CRT in D2-dissected gastric cancer, however, future clinical studies should also focus on answering these questions.

Sterol regulatory element binding protein-2(SREBP-2)is activated by cytokines or pathogen,such as virus or bacteria,but its association with diminished cholesterol levels in COVID-19 patients is ***,we evaluated SREBP-2 activation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of COVID-19 patients and verified the function of SREBP-2 in ***,we report the first observation of SREBP-2 C-terminal fragment in COVID-19 patients’blood and propose SREBP-2 C-terminal fragment as an indicator for determining *** confirmed that SREBP-2-induced cholesterol biosynthesis was suppressed by Sestrin-1 and PCSK9 expression,while the SREBP-2-induced inflammatory responses was upregulated in COVID-19 ICU *** an infectious disease mouse model,inhibitors of SREBP-2 and NF-κB suppressed cytokine storms caused by viral infection and prevented pulmonary *** results collectively suggest that SREBP-2 can serve as an indicator for severity diagnosis and therapeutic target for preventing cytokine storm and lung damage in severe COVID-19 patients.

Spatial distributions of plasma parameters such as electron density, electron temperature and electric potential were investigated using a commercial simulation software （COMSOLTM） to predict the effects of antenna configuration in a large area inductively cou- pled plasma （ICP） system for flat panel displays. Nine planar antenna sets were evenly placed above a ceramic window. While the electron density was influenced by both the input current and gas pressure, the electron temperature and electric potential were dominantly affected by the gas pressure.

Sucrose is produced in mesophyll cells and transferred into phloem cells before it is delivered long- distance to sink tissues. However, little is known about how sucrose transport is regulated in plants. Here, we identified a T-DNA insertional mutant of Oryza sativa DNA BINDING WITH ONE FINGER 11 （OsDOF11）, which is expressed in the vascular cells of photosynthetic organs and in various sink tissues. The osdofll mutant plants are semi-dwarf and have fewer tillers and smaller panicles as compared with wild-type （WT） plants. Although sucrose enhanced root elongation in young WT seedlings, this enhance- ment did not occur in osdof11 seedlings due to reduced sucrose uptake. Sugar transport rate analyses revealed that less sugar was transported in osdofll plants than in the WT. Expression of four Sucrose Transporter （SUT） genes-OsSUT1, OsSUT3, OsSUT4, and OsSUT5-as well as two Sugars Will Eventually be Exported Transporters （SWEET） genes, OsSWEETll and OsSWEET14, was altered in various organs of the mutant, including the leaves. Chromatin immunoprecipitation assays showed that OsDOFll directly binds the promoter regions of SUT1, OsSWEETll, and OsSWEET14, indicating that the expression of these transporters responsible for sucrose transport via apopiastic loading is coordinately controlled by OsDOFll. We also observed that osdofll mutant plants were less susceptible to infection byXanthomonas oryzae pathovar oryzae, suggesting that OsDOFll participates in sugar distribution during pathogenic in- vasion. Collectively, these results suggest that OsDOFll modulates sugar transport by regulating the expression of both SUT and SWEET genes in rice.

SnO_2 whiskers were prepared from the decomposition of whisker-like SnC_2O_4,which was precipitated by a reaction between an aqueous SnCl_2 and oxalic acid solution at high solution temperatures (80℃).After the decomposition of SnC_2O_4 at 450℃,SnO_2 whiskers containing both of rutile and metastable orthorhombic phases were obtained with the content of the orthorhombic phase decreasing with increasing heat-treatment temperature and *** effect of orthorhombic phase upon CO gas sensitivity was investigated by measuring the evolution of the primary particle size and the CO sensitivity with repeating heat treatment at 450℃.The 50μg/g CO sensitivity increased with decreasing concentration of the orthorhombic phase despite particle coarsening,which suggests that the orthorhombic phase is detrimental to the CO gas sensitivity.

To report an extragastrointestinal stromal tumor （EGIST） that occurs outside the gastrointestinal tract and shows unique clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical features. In our case, we experienced multiple soft tissue tumors that originate primarily in the greater omentum, and in immunohistochemical analysis, the tumors showed features that correspond to malignant EGIST. Two large omental masses measured 15 cm×10 cm and 5 cm×4 cm sized and several small ovoid fragments were attached to small intestine, mesentery and peritoneum. On histologic findings, the masses were separated from small bowel serosa and had high mitotic count （115/50 HPFs）. In the results of immunohistochemical stains, the tumor showed CDl17 （c-kit） positive reactivity and high Ki-67 labeling index. On mutation analysis, the c-kit gene mutation was found in the juxtamembrane domain （exon 11）and it was heterozygote. Platelet-derived growth factor receptor （PDGFR） gene mutation was also found in the juxtamemembrane （exon 12） and it was polymorphism. From above findings, we proposed that there may be several mutational pathways to malignant EGIST, so further investigations could be needed to approach this unfavorable disease entity.

Background Bone age development is one of the significant indicators depicting the growth status of children. However, bone age assessment is an heuristic and tedious work for pediatricians. We developed a computerized bone age estimation system based on the analysis of geometric features of carpal bones. Methods The geometric features of carpals were extracted and analyzed to judge the bone age of children by computerized shape and area description. Four classifiers, linear, nearest neighbor, back-propagation neural network, and radial basis function neural network, were adopted to categorize bone age. Principal component and discriminate analyses were employed to improve assorting accuracy. Results The hand X-ray films of 465 boys and 444 girls served as our database. The features were extracted from carpal bone images, including shape, area, and sequence. The proposed normalization area ratio method was effective in bone age classification by simulation. Besides, features statistics showed similar results between the standard of the Greulich and Pyle atlas and our database. Conclusions The bone area has a higher discriminating power to judge bone age. The ossification sequence of trapezium and trapezoid bones between Taiwan Residents and the atlas of the GP method is quite different. These results also indicate that carpal bone assessment with classification of neural networks can be correct and practical.

Various early Paleozoic （Cambrian Series 3-Middle Ordovician） reefs are found in the Taebaek Group, eastern Korea, located in the eastern margin of the Sino-Korean Block. They occur in every carbonate-dominant lithostratigraphic unit of the group, but their morphology and composition differ markedly. The Daegi Formation （middle Cambrian： Cambrian Series 3） contains siliceous sponge-Epiphyton reefs formed in a shallow subtidal environment, which is one of the earliest metazoan-bearing microbial reefs after the archaeocyath extinction. The Hwajeol Formation （upper Cambrian： Furongian） encloses sporadic dendrolites consisting of Angulocellularia, which developed in a relatively deep subtidal environment, representing a rare deeper water example. The onset of the Ordovician radiation resulted in the formation of microbialite-Archaeoscyphia-calathiid patch reefs in shallow subtidal deposits of the Lower Ordovician Dumugol Formation. Subsequent late Early Ordovician relative sea-level fall established extensive peritidal environments, forming microbial mats and stromatolites of the Lower-Middle Ordovician Makgol Formation. Ensuing Ordovician radiation resulted in one of the earliest metazoan skeletal reefs of the Middle Ordovician Duwibong Formation, constructed by stromatoporoid Cystostroma and bryozoan Nicholsonella, and developed around shallow shoals. These reefs reflect ongoing evolution and sea-level change during the early Paleozoic, and exemplify a rare glimpse of peri-Gondwanan records of reef evolution, which warrant detailed investigations and comparison with their counterparts in other regions.

In the current work, to predict and improve the formability of deep drawing process for steel plate cold rolled commercial grade （SPCC） sheets, three parameters including the blanking force, the die and punch comer radius were considered. The experimental plan according to Taguchi＇s orthogonal array was coupled with the finite element method （FEM） simulations. Firstly, the data from the test of stress-strain and forming limit curves were used as input into ABAQUS/Explicit finite element code to predict the failure occurrence of deep drawing process. The three parameters were then validated to establish their effects on the press formability. The optimum case found via simulation was finally confirmed through an experiment. In order to obtain the complex curve profile of cup shape after deep drawing, the anisotropic behavior of earring phenomenon was modeled and implemented into FEM. After such phenomenon was correctly predicted, an error metric compared with design curve was then measured.

Portable in-situ devices have been used for characterizing low accessible field,such as the railway *** this study,the automated cone penetrometer(ACP)was designed for the application on the railway *** is composed of the cone tip,driving rod,and hydraulic hammer *** hydraulic motor lifts and drops the 294.3 N hammer from a height of 200 mm such that the potential energy of 58.9 N m impacts the driving *** N-value(NACP)from the ACP test was compared with the dynamic cone penetration index(DCPI)from the dynamic cone penetrometer(DCP)*** test results show that the NACP and DCPI profiles show opposite trend owing to the inverse concept of the *** the correlation of DCPI and NACP,the limitation of DCPI reveals owing the minimum manually measured value of 1 mm/***,the evaluation of the deflection modulus(EFWD)using NACP is more efficient than that using *** on the result of this study,we suggest that ACP can be used for strength and stiffness evaluation of railway subgrade rapidly and reliably.
