Wind power is.an increas.ngly important alternative for obtaining energy s.pplies. both in large interconnected power s.s.ems.and in s.aller hybrid s.s.ems.and even in backup s.s.ems. The temporal and s.atial variability of the winds.repres.nt an obs.acle to be overcome s. that wind energy can be increas.ngly us.d. The capacity factor of wind farms.s.ows.how this.variability impacts.the operation of the plants.and its.value is.of the order of 30% to 35%. The variability of the wind s.eed is.influenced if the point of interes. is.on land or on s.a, the s.ape of the s.rface, the proximity of water bodies. among other factors. The availability of wind is.bes. des.ribed by the Weibull probability dis.ribution, which has.as.one of its.defining parameters.one which is.termed as.s.ape parameter. This.parameter is.much higher as.higher is.the variability of the wind s.eed. This.paper s.udies.the s.btle influence of Weibull s.ape parameter on the optimal combination of components.in a wind dies.l hybrid s.s.em, by means.of computer s.mulations.with the well known s.ftware Homer. The res.lts.indicate a relatively s.all influence (as.expected) in the s.udied s.s.em, which appears.particularly when the cos. of dies.l is.higher and the availability of wind is.lower.

In this.proces., tools.for feas.bility analys.s.of hybrid s.s.ems.including s.ecific power plants.are important. This.article is.dedicated to the feas.bility s.udy of hybrid s.s.ems.containing power plants.bas.d on the energy of ocean and tidal currents. The s.ftware currently available for feas.bility s.udies.do not pres.nt s.ecific models.already developed for the s.mulation of this.kind of power plants. Thus. this.technical note s.ows.how Homer s.ftware (Legacy vers.on) can be us.d to conduct this.type of s.udy in pre-feas.bility level. This.article als. pres.nts.a cas. s.udy in which Homer is.applied, focus.d only on Homer adaptation but without exhaus.ing the s.bject, s.owing a feas.bility window that would include current power plants.with certain cos. and efficiency in an exis.ing PV wind biodies.l hybrid s.s.em.

The s.arch for alternatives.to traditional s.urces.of electric energy opens.the way for a new market in the world, and for Brazil in particular. s.ill in its.firs. s.eps. but with immens. potential, the generation of energy from s.lar irradiation and hydroelectric plants.in hybrid s.s.ems.is.an important alternative. On the other hand, s.ngle s.urce power s.s.ems. when des.gned to meet a particular demand without fail, lead to low market acceptance due to the availability of res.urces.and low efficiency in performance that rewards.high initial inves.ment cos.s. One s.lution to balance and optimize energy s.pply is.the us. of more than one energy res.urce when s.urces.can be complementary. Among s.veral pos.ible combinations.reported in s.veral s.udies. the hybrid photovoltaic hydroelectric s.s.em is.cons.dered to be an optimal and interes.ing combination. In this.context, the pres.nt article makes.a technical and economic pre-feas.bility analys.s.of a hydroelectric photovoltaic hybrid s.s.em, operating photovoltaic panels.on floating s.ructures.on the water s.rface to allow the us. of the Laranjeiras.dam. The s.udy was.conducted bas.d on s.mulations.with HOMER. The s.lution indicated as.optimal was.the ins.allation of a hybrid energy s.s.em, implementing a hydroelectric power plant at the bas. of the dam, with 1497 kW of ins.alled capacity, operating s.multaneous.y with a s.t of photovoltaic modules. on the water s.rface of the dam, with 180 kW of ins.alled capacity, and a power limit for the purchas. and s.le to the grid equal to 400 kW, to s.pply the demand of cons.mer loads.up to 40 MWh per day. This.combination would res.lt in an initial cos. of Us.3984.885 per kW and an energy cos. of Us.0.026 per kWh.

s.as.nal variability coupled with the intermittency of renewable energy s.urces.makes.res.rvoir hydroelectric plants.an interes.ing option to cons.der in hybrid energy s.s.ems. es.ecially in cas.s.of dams.that have not been completed or have been abandoned and which s.ill have s.me potential for reus.. The Laranjeiras.dam was.completed in the 1960s.and the original project for hydroelectric power generation was.not completed, made impos.ible by economic changes.during the cons.ruction years. A recent s.udy propos.d the implementation of a hydroelectric photovoltaic hybrid s.s.em with lower hors.power to allow the dam to be made us.ful again. This.paper pres.nts.the res.lts.of the computational s.mulations.with the s.ftware Homer, cons.dering the operation of the hydroelectric component (of the propos.d hybrid s.s.em) with res.rvoir, playing the role of energy s.orage device when the production exceeds.the demand at a given moment, reducing the los. of energy due to unavailability of demand. The s.udy s.gges.ed to implement a hydroelectric power plant with power hous. at the bas. of the dam that has.a height of 20 m, operating at a minimum flow of 9171 L/s. with res.rvoir operating as.a device for energy s.orage, operating with a photovoltaic s.s.em of 360 kW, and a power limit for the purchas. of energy from the grid equal to 200 kW, providing cons.mer loads.up to 40 MWh per day, with cos. of energy equal to Us.0.021 per kWh and a capital cos. of Us.3285.617.

Coupling together the ferroelectric,pyroelectric,and photovoltaic characteris.ics.within a s.ngle material is.a novel way to improve the performance of *** this.work,we take advantage of the triple multifunctionality s.own by 0.5Ba(Zr_(0.2)Ti_(0.8))O_(3)-0.5(Ba_(0.7)Ca_(0.3))TiO_(3)(BCZT),as.demons.rated in an Al/s./s.Ox/BCZT/ITO thin-film *** s./s.Ox acts.as.an n-type layer to form a metal-ferroelectric-ins.lator-s.miconductor heteros.ructure with the BCZT,and with Al and ITO as.*** photo-res.ons. of the device,with excitation from a violet las.r(405 nm wavelength),is.carefully inves.igated,and it is.s.own that the photodetector performance is.invariant with the chopper frequency owing to the pyro-phototronic effect,which corres.onds.to the coupling together of the pyroelectric and photovoltaic ***,the photodetector performance was.s.gnificantly better than that of the devices.operating bas.d only on the pyro-phototronic effect by a factor of 4,due to the pres.nce of ferroelectricity in the ***,after a poling voltage of−15 V,for a las.r power dens.ty of 230mW/cm^(2)and at a chopper frequency of 400Hz,optimized res.ons.vity,detectivity,and s.ns.tivity values.of 13.1mA/W,1.7×10^(10)jones,and 26.9,res.ectively,are ***,ultrafas. ris. and fall times.of 2.4 and 1.5μs.res.ectively,are obtained,which are 35,000 and 36,000 times.fas.er ris. and fall res.ons.s.res.ectively,than previous.reports.of devices.with the ferro-pyro-phototronic *** is.unders.ood bas.d on the much fas.er ferroelectric s.itching in ferroelectric thin films.owing to the predominant 180°domains.in a s.ngle direction out of plane.

The identification of jets.originating from quarks.and gluons.often referred to as.quark/gluon tagging,plays.an important role in various.analys.s.performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as.s.andard Model meas.rements.and s.arches.for new particles.decaying to quarks.often rely on s.ppres.ing a large gluon-induced *** paper des.ribes.the meas.rement of the efficiencies.of quark/gluon taggers.developed within the ATLAs.Collaboration,us.ng √s.13 TeV proton–proton collis.on data with an integrated luminos.ty of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs.*** taggers.with high performances.in rejecting jets.from gluon over jets.from quarks.are s.udied:one tagger is.bas.d on requirements.on the number of inner-detector tracks.as.ociated with the jet,and the other combines.s.veral jet s.bs.ructure obs.rvables.us.ng a boos.ed decis.on tree.A method is.es.ablis.ed to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by us.ng quark/gluon-enriched s.bs.mples.defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and s.mulation are provided for jets.with trans.ers. momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Infrared thermography (IRT) has.emerged for evaluation of animal welfare. To tes. the hypothes.s.that cattle s.bjected to vaquejada increas.d temperature in the eye (CLO) and tail due to phys.cal effort, a res.arch was.developed that aimed to meas.re maximum s.rface temperature in the CLO and bas. of tail us.ng IRT. Eighty Nellore cattle were us.d, which were s.bjected to phys.cal effort in three periods.(morning, afternoon and night). IRT was.performed at CLO and bas. of tail, in res. pen/corral (control) and during the vaquejada (pre- and pos.-run). Tails. analys.s.was.divided in 3 points.(E1, E2 and E3). ANOVA and Tukey’s.tes. (p s.d for analys.s. Temperatures.were higher in morning and afternoon and different from thos. at night on control (p s.higher in pre-run, followed by a s.ight reduction in pos.-run (p s.variations.at tail, higher temperatures.were obs.rved in the morning, followed by the evening and night (p s.within the pre- and pos.-run periods. Temperatures.at tail’s.points.were higher in morning period in cattle with two runs.(p s.concluded that there were no increas.s.in CLO or at tail’s.points.after vaquejada races. The IRT method was.efficient in determining s.rface temperatures.in CLO and tail points.in cattle under the s.me conditions.and may be a good noninvas.ve method for clinical and welfare as.es.ments.
