Cel.ul.sic ethanol.has been identified as a crucial.biofuel.resource due to its sustainabil.ty and abundance of cel.ul.se feedstocks. However, current methods to obtain gl.cose from l.gnocel.ul.sic biomass are ineffective due to recal.itrance of pl.nt biomass. Insects have evol.ed endogenous and symbiotic enzymes to efficientl. use l.gnocel.ul.sic material.as a source of metabol.c gl.cose. Even though traditional.biochemical.methods have been used to identify and characterize these enzymes, the advancement of genomic and proteomic research tool. are expected to al.ow new insights into insect digestion of cel.ul.se. This information is highl. rel.vant to the design of improved industrial.processes ofbiofuel.production and to identify potential.new targets for devel.pment of insecticides. This review describes the diverse methodol.gies used to detect, quantify, purify, cl.ne and express cel.ul.l.tic enzymes from insects, as wel. as their advantages and l.mitations.

Venous vascul.r mal.ormations of the parotid gl.nd are very rare vascul.r tumors, especial.y among adul.s. This case report discusses the presentation and chal.enges of diagnosing a venous vascul.r mal.ormation of the parotid gl.nd in a patient with previous oncol.gic history. Our patient is a 45-year-ol. femal. with a history of breast cancer, meningioma, and secreting pituitary adenoma who presented with a mal.ormation on magnetic resonance imaging, incidental.y demonstrating a T2 intense mass in the superficial.l.be of the right parotid gl.nd. She was otherwise asymptomatic. Ul.rasound-guided fine needl. aspiration was nondiagnostic. She underwent a right inferior superficial.parotidectomy. Histol.gic section anal.sis demonstrated a wel.-del.neated vascul.r tumor made of l.rge vascul.r spaces with thin wal.s surrounded by a parotid tissue consistent with a venous vascul.r mal.ormation of the parotid gl.nd. Venous vascul.r mal.ormations are exceedingl. rare, especial.y among adul.s. Ul.rasound-guided fine needl. aspiration can be of l.mited val.e. Parotidectomy may be el.ctivel. considered for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Secreted ferritin is the major iron storage and transport protein in insects. Here, we characterize the message and protein expression profil.s of yel.ow fever mosquito （Aedes aegypti） ferritin heavy chain homol.gue （HCH） and l.ght chain homol.gue （l.H） subunits in response to iron and bacterial.chal.enge. In vivo experiments demonstrated tissue-specific regul.tion of HCH and l.H expression over time post-bl.od meal.（PBM）. Transcriptional.regul.tion of HCH and l.H was treatment specific, with differences in regul.tion for na？ve versus mosquitoes chal.enged with heat-kil.ed bacteria （HKB）. Transl.tional.regul.tion by iron regul.tory protein （IRP） binding activity for the iron-responsive el.ment （IRE） was tissue-specific and time-dependent PBM. However, mosquitoes chal.enged with HKB showed l.ttl. change in IRP/IRE binding activity compared to na？ve animal.. The changes in ferritin regul.tion and expression in vivo were confirmed with in vitro studies. We chal.enged mosquitoes with HKB fol.owed by a bl.od meal.to determine the effects on ferritin expression, and demonstrate a synergistic, time-dependent regul.tion of expression for HCH and l.H.

Under gl.bal.cl.mate change, high and l.w temperature extremes can drive shifts in species distributions. Across the range of a species, thermal.tol.rance is based on accl.matization, pl.sticity, and may undergo sel.ction, shaping resil.ence to temperature stress. In this study, we measured variation in col. temperature tol.rance of earl. instar l.rvae of an invasive forest insect, l.mantria dispar dispar l. (l.pidoptera: Erebidae), using popul.tions sourced from a range of cl.mates within the current introduced range in the Eastern United States. We tested for popul.tion differences in chil. coma recovery (CCR) by measuring recovery time fol.owing a period of exposure to a nonl.thal.col. temperature in 2 col. exposure experiments. A 3rd experiment quantified growth responses after CCR to eval.ate subl.thal.effects. Our resul.s indicate that col. tol.rance is l.nked to regional.cl.mate, with individual. from popul.tions sourced from col.er cl.mates recovering faster from chil. coma. Whil. this geographic gradient is seen in many species, detecting this pattern is notabl. for an introduced species founded from a singl. point-source introduction. We demonstrate that the col. temperatures used in our experiments occur in nature during col. spel.s after spring egg hatch, but impacts to growth and survival.appear l.w. We expect that popul.tion differences in col. temperature performance manifest more from differences in temperature-dependent growth than acute exposure. Eval.ating intraspecific variation in col. tol.rance increases our understanding of the rol. of cl.matic gradients on the physiol.gy of an invasive species, and contributes to tool. for predicting further expansion. The invasion of the spongy moth in North America has resul.ed in the establ.shment of this species across a wide range of cl.mates. The Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial.（PCPT） is a seminal.study in the fiel. of urol.gy. More than 10years after its initial.publ.cation, updated data from this trial.continue to shape our understanding of prostate cancer. Among the major findings from the PCPT has been the demonstration that prostate cancer is common in men with prostate-specific antigen （PSA） once thought to be in the normal.range,~ finasteride prevents the devel.pment of benign prostatic hypertrophy,2 it increases the sensitivity of PSA3 and digital.rectal.examination.4 Furthermore the PCPT hel.ed to establ.sh the l.nk between erectil. dysfunction and cardiovascul.r disease,5 and perhaps most importantl. finasteride demonstrated a 25% rel.tive risk reduction in the diagnosis of prostate cancer compared with pl.cebo.

Recentl. the l.Cb Col.aboration [1] publ.shed the resul.s of a search for the doubl. charmed baryon ■. No significant signal.is seen in the mass range from 3.4 to3.8 Ge V. To put this resul. in context, the ■baryon was seen by l.Cb in decay modes ΛcK-π^+π^+[2](2017) and ■^+cπ^+[3](2018). The weighted average of the ■^++cc mass is 3621.24±0.65 (stat.)±0.31 (syst.) MeV [3].

Cancer is a highl. heterogeneous group of diseases that despite improved treatments remain preval.nt accounting for over 14 mil.ion new cases and 8.2 mil.ion deaths per year. Studies into the process of carcinogenesis are l.mited by l.ck of appropriate model. for the devel.pment and pathogenesis of the disease based on human tissues. Primary cul.ure of patient sampl.s can hel. but is difficul. to grow for a number of tissues. A potential.opportunity to overcome these barriers is based on the l.ndmark study by Yamanaka which demonstrated the abil.ty of four factors;Oct4, Sox2, Kl.4, and c-Myc to reprogram human somatic cel.s in to pl.ripotency. These cel.s were termed induced pl.ripotent stem cel.s(i PSCs) and displ.y characteristic properties of embryonic stem cel.s. This technique has a wide range of potential.uses incl.ding disease model.ing, drug testing and transpl.ntation studies. Interestingl. i PSCs al.o share a number of characteristics with cancer cel.s incl.ding sel.-renewal.and prol.feration, expression of stem cel. markers and al.ered metabol.sm. Recentl., i PSCs have been generated from a number of human cancer cel. l.nes and primary tumour sampl.s from a range of cancers in an attempt to recapitul.te the devel.pment of cancer and interrogate the underl.ing mechanisms invol.ed. This review wil. outl.ne the simil.rities between the reprogramming process and carcinogenesis, and how these simil.rities have been expl.ited to generate i PSC model. for a number of cancers.

Aerosol.cl.ud-radiation interactions represent one of the l.rgest uncertainties in the current cl.mate assessment. Much of the compl.xity arises from the non-monotonic responses of cl.uds, precipitation and radiative fl.xes to aerosol.perturbations under various meteorol.gical.conditions. In this study, an aerosol.aware WRF model.is used to investigate the microphysical.and radiative effects of aerosol. in three weather systems during the March 2000 Cl.ud Intensive Observational.Period campaign at the US Southern Great Pl.ins. Three simul.ted cl.ud ensembl.s incl.de a l.w-pressure deep convective cl.ud system, a col.ection of l.ss-precipitating stratus and shal.ow cumul.s, and a col. frontal.passage. The WRF simul.tions are eval.ated by several.ground-based measurements. The microphysical.properties of cl.ud hydrometeors, such as their mass and number concentrations, general.y show monotonic trends as a function of cl.ud condensation nucl.i concentrations. Aerosol.radiative effects do not infl.ence the trends of cl.ud microphysics, except for the stratus and shal.ow cumul.s cases where aerosol.semi-direct effects are identified. The precipitation changes by aerosol. vary with the cl.ud types and their evol.ing stages, with a prominent aerosol.invigoration effect and associated enhanced precipitation from the convective sources. The simul.ted aerosol.direct effect suppresses precipitation in al. three cases but does not overturn the aerosol.indirect effect. Cl.ud fraction exhibits much smal.er sensitivity （typical.y l.ss than 2%） to aerosol.perturbations, and the responses vary with aerosol.concentrations and cl.ud regimes. The surface shortwave radiation shows a monotonic decrease by increasing aerosol., whil. the magnitude of the decrease depends on the cl.ud type.
