Analysis of Pathway Activity in Prim.ry Tum.rs and NCI60 Cell Lines Using Gene Expression Profiling Data

To determ.ne cancer pathway activities in nine types of prim.ry tum.rs and NCI60 cell lines, we applied an in silico approach by exam.ning gene signatures reflective of consequent pathway activation using gene expression data. Supervised learning approaches predicted that the Ras pathway is active in -70% of lung adenocarcinom.s but inactive in m.st squam.us cell carcinom.s, pulm.nary carcinoids, and sm.ll cell lung carcinom.s. In contrast, the TGF-β, TNF-α, Src, m.c, E2F3, and β-catenin pathways are inactive in lung adenocarcinom.s. We predicted an active Ras, m.c, Src, and/or E2F3 pathway in significant percentages of breast cancer, colorectal carcinom., and gliom.s. Our results also suggest that Ras m.y be the m.st prevailing oncogenic pathway. Additionally, m.ny NCI60 cell lines exhibited a gene signature indicative of an active Ras, m.c, and/or Src, but not E2F3, β-catenin, TNF-α, or TGF-β pathway. To our knowledge, this is the first com.rehensive survey of cancer pathway activities in nine m.jor tum.r types and the m.st widely used NCI60 cell lines. The ＂gene expression pathway signatures＂ we have defined could facilitate the understanding of m.lecular m.chanism. in cancer developm.nt and provide guidance to the selection of appropriate cell lines for cancer research and pharm.ceutical com.ound screening.

The influence of resistance exercise training prescription variables on skeletal m.scle m.ss,strength,and physical function in healthy adults:An um.rella review

Biodiversity,large trees,and environm.ntal conditions such as clim.te and soil have im.ortant effects on forest carbon ***,recent studies in tem.erate forests suggest that the relative im.ortance of these factors depends on tree m.corrhizal associations,whereby large-tree effects m.y be driven by ectom.corrhizal(Em.trees,diversity effects m.y be driven by arbuscular m.corrhizal(Am.trees,and environm.nt effects m.y depend on differential clim.te and soil preferences of Am.and Em.*** test this hypothesis,we used forest-inventory data consisting of over 80,000 trees from.631 tem.erate-forest plots(30 m.30 m.across Northeast China to exam.ne how biodiversity(species diversity and ecological uniqueness),large trees(top 1%of tree diam.ters),and environm.ntal factors(clim.te and soil nutrients)differently regulate aboveground carbon stocks of Am.trees,Em.trees,and Am.and Em.trees com.ined(*** aboveground carbon stock).We found that large trees had a positive effect on both Am.and Em.tree carbon ***,biodiversity and environm.ntal factors had opposite effects on Am.*** tree carbon ***,the two com.onents of biodiversity had positive effects on Am.tree carbon stocks,but negative effects on Em.tree carbon *** heterogeneity(m.an annual tem.erature and soil nutrients)also exhibited contrasting effects on Am.and Em.tree carbon ***,for the total carbon stock,the positive large-tree effect far surpasses the diversity and environm.nt *** is m.inly because when integrating Am.and Em.tree carbon stock into total carbon stock,the opposite diversity-effect(also environm.nt-effect)on Am.*** tree carbon stock counteracts each other while the consistent positive large-tree effect on Am.and Em.tree carbon stock is *** sum.ary,this study em.hasized a m.corrhizal viewpoint to better understand the determ.nants of overarching aboveground carbon profile across regional forests.

m.ocarditis is a rare cardiom.ocyte inﬂam.atory process,typically caused by viruses,with potentially devastating cardiac sequalae in both com.etitive athletes and in the general *** into m.ocarditis prevalence in the Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)era suggests that infection with Severe acute respiratory syndrom. coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)is an independent risk factor for m.ocarditis,which is conﬁrm.d m.inly through cardiovascular m.gnetic resonance *** studies indicated that athletes have a decreased risk of m.ocarditis after recent COVID-19 infection com.ared to the general ***,given the unique nature of com.etitive athletics with their frequent participation in high-intensity exercise,athletes possess distinct factors of susceptibility for the developm.nt of m.ocarditis and its subsequent severe cardiac com.lications(e.g.,sudden cardiac death,fulm.nant heart failure,etc.).Under this context,this review focuses on com.aring m.ocarditis in athletes versus non-athletes,owing special attention to the distinct clinical presentations and outcom.s of m.ocarditis caused by different viral pathogens such as cytom.galovirus,Epstein-Barr virus,hum.n herpesvirus-6,hum.n im.unodeﬁciency virus,and Parvovirus B19,both before and after the COVID-19 pandem.c,as com.ared with *** illustrating distinct clinical presentations and outcom.s of m.ocarditis in athletes versus non-athletes,we also highlight the critical im.ortance of early detection,vigilant m.nitoring,and effective m.nagem.nt of viral and non-viral m.ocarditis in athletes and the necessity for further optim.zation of the return-to-play guidelines for athletes in the COVID-19 era,in order to m.nim.ze the risks for the rare but devastating cardiac fatality.
