Structural and functional connectivity of the whole brain and subnetworks in individuals with mild traumatic brain injury:predictors of patient prognosis

Patients with mild traumatic brain injury have a diverse clinical presentation,and the underlying pathophysiology remains poorly *** resonance imaging is a non-invasive technique that has been widely utilized to investigate neuro biological markers after mild traumatic brain *** approach has emerged as a promising tool for investigating the pathogenesis of mild traumatic brain injury.G raph theory is a quantitative method of analyzing complex networks that has been widely used to study changes in brain structure and ***,most previous mild traumatic brain injury studies using graph theory have focused on specific populations,with limited exploration of simultaneous abnormalities in structural and functional *** that mild traumatic brain injury is the most common type of traumatic brain injury encounte red in clinical practice,further investigation of the patient characteristics and evolution of structural and functional connectivity is *** the present study,we explored whether abnormal structural and functional connectivity in the acute phase could serve as indicators of longitudinal changes in imaging data and cognitive function in patients with mild traumatic brain *** this longitudinal study,we enrolled 46 patients with mild traumatic brain injury who were assessed within 2 wee ks of injury,as well as 36 healthy ***-state functional magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion-weighted imaging data were acquired for graph theoretical network *** the acute phase,patients with mild traumatic brain injury demonstrated reduced structural connectivity in the dorsal attention *** than 3 months of followup data revealed signs of recovery in structural and functional connectivity,as well as cognitive function,in 22 out of the 46 ***,better cognitive function was associated with more efficient ***,our data indicated that small-worldness in the acute sta

Evaluation of Auto-Ignition Characteristics of Diesel Surrogate Fuels with the Same Derived Cetane Numbers at Changed Thermodynamic Environments

The ignition tendency of diesel fuels is highly sensitive to ambient conditions and fuel *** this study,the ignition characteristics of different diesel surrogate fuels with the same derived cetane numbers(DCN)were measured and compared in varied thermodynamic and oxidizing *** combustion pressures,heat release rates,ignition delays,and combustion delays of the test fuels were *** experimental results showed that the diesel surrogate fuels with the same DCNs exhibit similar ignition propensity at standard DCN test ***,for the test conditions of high cetane fuels,high ambient temperatures,and suficient oxygen concentrations,surrogate fuels with the same DCN have similar ignition behaviors,and using the DCN to evaluate fuel ignition tendency is ***,for the test conditions of low cetane fuels,low ambient temperatures,and reduced oxygen concentrations,different ignition behaviors are observed for the surrogate fuels with the same DCN,so at these conditions using DCN as the evaluation index for fuel ignition tendency may lead to higher uncertainty.

Topology optimization of AISI 4140 steel with surface texture filled by multi-solid lubricants for enhancing tribological properties

Wind power gears will be excessively worn due to lubrication failure during ***,the tribological properties of rubbing pairs are improved by filling solid lubricants into surface *** texture design,three types of topological textures(Circle(C),hexagon(h),and Circle/hexagon(Ch))were obtained by cell topology optimization,and then three cases with 20%,30%,and 40%density were designed for each ***,SnAgCu and TiC were deposited in texture of AISI 4140 steel(AS)to obtain 9 kinds of self-lubricating *** them,AS with 30%Ch density(AS-Ch30)exhibits excellent mechanical and tribological *** with AS-C and AS-h,the maximum equivalent stress of AS-Ch was decreased by 10.86%and 5.37%,*** coefficient and wear rate of AS-Ch30 were 79.68%and 78%lower than those of *** excellent tribological performances of AS-Ch30 can be attributed to the synergistic effect of topological surface and solid *** surface can not only reduce fluctuation of equivalent stress,but also promote the stored lubricants to be easily transferred at the contact interface to form a 200 nm lubricating film containing solid lubricants(mainly),oxides and wear debris.

Elucidating the structure-activity relationship of Cu-Ag bimetallic catalysts for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction

Developing bimetallic catalysts is an effective strategy for enhancing the activity and selectivity of electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reactions,where understanding the structure-activity relationship is essential for catalyst ***,we prepared two Cu-Ag bimetallic catalysts with Ag nanoparticles attached to the top or the bottom of Cu *** tested in a flow cell,the Cu-Ag catalyst with Ag nanoparticles on the bottom achieved a faradaic efficiency of 54%for ethylene production,much higher than the catalyst with Ag nanoparticles on the *** catalysts were further studied in the h-cell and zero-gap MEA *** was found that placing the two metals in the intensified reaction zone is crucial to triggering the tandem reaction of bimetallic *** work elucidates the structure-activity relationship of bimetallic catalysts for CO_(2) reduction and demonstrates the importance of considering both catalyst structures and cell characteristics to achieve high activity and selectivity.

Effect of Texture on the Grain-Size-Dependent Functional Properties of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys and Texture Gradient Design:A Phase Field Study

Texture is inevitably introduced during the manufacturing of most NiTi shape memory alloys(SMAs),and the textured nanocrystalline NiTi has been extensively employed in ***,the effect of texture,and the joint effect of grain size(GS)and texture on the functional properties of NiTi SMAs and the corresponding microscopic mechanisms have not been clearly understood *** this work,based on the phase field method,the effect of texture on the GS-dependent functional properties of NiTi SMAs,including super-elasticity(SE),one-way shape memory effect(OWSME),and stress-assisted two-way shape memory effect(SATWSME),is investigated,and the corresponding microscopic mechanisms are ***,the samples with discrete geometrical gradients and/or texture gradients are designed to achieve graded functional *** simulation results indicate that the dependence of functional properties on texture is due to the effect of crystallographic orientation on martensite transformation and reorientation,which can lead to different inelastic *** the designed samples with texture gradients,the stress–strain responses of sheets with various textures are different,allowing for the coordination of overall deformation of the sample by combining such sheets,with varying inelastic deformation ***,the overall response of the sample differs from that without texture gradient,leading to the achievement of graded functional *** simulation results and new findings in this work contribute to a deeper understanding of the effects of texture,GS,and their interaction on the functional properties of SMAs,and provide valuable reference for the design and development of SMA-based devices with desired functional properties.

Fast flow simulation study of pulsating ventilation performance on air contaminant removal

Fast flow simulation is imperative in the design of pulsating ventilation,which is potentially efficient in indoor air contaminant *** execution of the conventional CFD method requires considerable amount of computational *** this study,five different numerical schemes were proposed based on fast fluid dynamics(FFD)and fractional step(FS)methods,and were evaluated to achieve quick simulation of airflow/contaminant *** of these numerical schemes was identified with the best overall computing efficiency for investigating the performance of pulsating *** this numerical scheme at hand,the air contaminant removal effectiveness of different ventilation types was *** kinds of pulsating ventilation and one kind of steady ventilation were tested upon a benchmark isothermal mixing *** effect of adjusting supply velocity parameters on the ventilation performance was also ***_(2)concentration,airflow pattern,and vortex structure of different ventilation types were illustrated and *** results reveal that the FS method is more suitable for transient simulation of wall-bounded indoor airflow than the FFD method,and 34%–51%of computing time could be saved compared to the conventional CFD *** the choice of ventilation type,steady ventilation might result in short-circuit airflow and stagnant zones;alternatively,pulsating ventilation has greater potential in air contaminant removal due to its ever-changing vortex structure.

Long-term variation of Arctic Sudden Stratospheric Warmings(SSW) and potential causes

Utilizing the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast(ECMWF) Reanalysis v5(ERA5), for the first time, we have confirmed close links among Sudden Stratospheric Warmings(SSWs) in the Northern hemisphere(Nh), the polar vortices, and stratospheric Planetary Waves(PWs) by analyzing and comparing their trends. Interestingly, within overall increasing trends, the duration and strength of SSWs exhibit increasing and decreasing trends before and after the winter of 2002, respectively. To reveal possible physical mechanisms driving these trends, we analyzed the long-term trends of the winter(from December to February) polar vortices and of stratospheric PWs with zonal wave number 1. Notably, our results show that in all three time periods(the entire period of 41winters, 1980 to 2020, and the two subperiods — 1980-2002 and 2002-2020) enhancing SSWs were always accompanied by weakening winter polar vortices and strengthening polar PWs like Stationary Planetary Waves(SPWs) and 16-day waves, and vice versa. This is the first proof, based on ERA5 long-term trend data, that weakening polar vortices and enhancing stratospheric PWs(especially SPWs) could cause an increase in SSWs.

Joint Sample Position Based Noise Filtering and Mean Shift Clustering for Imbalanced Classification Learning

The problem of imbalanced data classification learning has received much *** classification algorithms are susceptible to data skew to favor majority samples and ignore minority *** weighted minority oversampling technique(MWMOTE)is an effective approach to solve this problem,however,it may suffer from the shortcomings of inadequate noise filtering and synthesizing the same samples as the original minority *** this end,we propose an improved MWMOTE method named joint sample position based noise filtering and mean shift clustering(SPMSC)to solve these ***,in order to effectively eliminate the effect of noisy samples,SPMsC uses a new noise filtering mechanism to determine whether a minority sample is noisy or not based on its position and distribution relative to the majority *** that MWMOTE may generate duplicate samples,we then employ the mean shift algorithm to cluster minority samples to reduce synthetic replicate ***,data cleaning is performed on the processed data to further eliminate class *** on extensive benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of SPMsC compared with other sampling methods.
