Synthesis of Substituted Benzothiazepine Compounds with Medicinal Potential

A versatile synthetic approach toward a series of benzothiazepines with medicinal potential (for example, compound 1) that allows incorporation of structural variation at the three aromatic regions of the structure, and at the sulfur atom, was developed. Knoevenagel condensation of indan-1,3-diones with benzaldehydes, yielded 2-benzylidineindan-1,3-diones, which undewent thio-Michael addition and intramolecular imine formation upon reaction with 2-aminothiophenols, to produce the target benzothiazepines. Use of indan-1,3-diones, benzaldehydes or 2-aminothiophenols bearing further substitution enabled production of novel 5,11-dihydro-12H-benzo[b]indeno [1,2-e][1,4]thiazepin-12-one analogs 1 - 14, including compounds bearing substitution at novel positions within the scaffold.

＜正＞The conglomeratic Dazhuqu and Qiuwu formations are correlative units associated with the Gangrinboche facies of southern Tibet. Rocks of this facies crop out for ＞2000 km along the strike of Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone from west of Mt Kailas （81°e） to east of Namche Barwa （95°e）. As these predominantly coarse clastic rocks record tectonic activity associated with the collision between India and eurasia their detailed study should further clarify our understanding of this event.

The earth’s mantle beneath ocean ridges is widely thought to be depleted by previous melt extraction;but well homogenized by convective *** inference of homogeneity has been complicated by the occurrence of portions enriched in incompatible *** we show that some refractory abyssal peridotites from the ultraslow-spreading Gakkel ridge (Arctic Ocean) have very depleted Os/Os ratios with model ages up to 2 billion years;implying the long-term preservation of refractory domains in the asthenospheric mantle rather than their erasure by mantle *** refractory domains would not be sampled by mid-ocean-ridge basalts because they contribute little to the genesis of *** thus suggest that the upwelling mantle beneath mid-ocean ridges is highly heterogeneous;which makes it difficult to constrain its composition by mid-ocean-ridge basalts ***;the existence of ancient domains in oceanic mantle suggests that using osmium model ages to constrain the evolution of continental lithosphere should be approached with caution.

Background:Historically sinonasal malignancies were always addressed via open craniofacial surgery for an oncologic *** esthesioneuroblastomas are excised using an exclusively endoscopic approach,however,the rarity of this disease limits the availability of long-term and large scale outcomes ***:The primary objective is to evaluate the treatment modalities used and the overall survival of patients with esthesioneuroblastoma managed with exclusively endoscopic ***:In accordance with PRISMA guidelines,PubMed was queried to identify studies describing outcomes associated with endoscopic management of ***:Forty-four out of 2462 articles met inclusion criteria,totaling 399 patients with esthesioneuroblastoma treated with an exclusively endoscopic ***-two patients(18.0%)received adjuvant chemotherapy and 331 patients(83.0%)received postoperative radiation *** average age was 50.6 years old(range 6-83).Of the 399 patients,57(16.6%)were Kadish stage A,121(35.2%)were Kadish stage B,145(42.2%)were Kadish stage C,and 21(6.1%)were Kadish stage *** analysis demonstrated that 66.0%of patients had Hyams histologic GradeⅠorⅡ,while 34.0%of patients had GradeⅢorⅣ*** surgical margins were achieved in 86.9%of patients,and recurrence was identified in 10.3%of *** those with 5-year follow-up,reported overall survival was 91.1%.Conclusion:exclusively endoscopic surgery for esthesioneuroblastoma is performed for a wide range of disease stages and grades,and the majority of these patients are also treated with adjuvant chemotherapy or radiation *** overall recurrence rate is 10.3%and 5-year survival is 91.1%.

effects of Slope Aspects on Soil Bacterial and Arbuscular Fungal Communities in a Boreal Forest in China

The effects of slope aspects on soil biogeochemical properties and plant communities in forested environments have been studied extensively; however, slope aspect influence on soil microbial communities remains largely unexamined, despite the central role of soil biota in ecosystem functioning. In this study, the communities of both soil bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi （AMF） were investigated using tagged pyrosequencing for three types of slope aspects （south-facing aspect, north-facing aspect and flat area） in a boreal forest of the Greater Khingan Mountains, China. The bacterial and AMF community composition differed with slope aspects. Bacterial diversity was the lowest on the north-facing aspect, and AMF diversity was the lowest on the flat area. Aspects also had a significant impact on soil pH and available phosphorus （P） and shrubby biomass. Soil pH and understory shrub biomass were significantly correlated with bacterial communities, and soil available P and shrub biomass showed significant correlations with AMF communities. Our results suggested that slope aspects affected bacterial and AMF communities, mediated by aspect-induced changes in plant community and soil chemical properties （e.g., pH and available P）, which improved the knowledge on the effects of forest slope aspects on aboveground and belowground communities.

Seven new polyketides,termed veramycins,were isolated from a Streptomyces *** the Sanofi microbial strain collection along with their known congeners NFAT-133 and *** A,anα-pyrone congener of TM-123 and NFAT-133 showed an increased baseline deoxy-glucose uptake in the absence of insulin in a modified L6 rat skeletal muscle cell line(L6 GLUT4 AS160-like cells).In addition,both compounds slightly increased the sensitivity to insulin in this cell *** syntheses of NFAT-133,TM-123 and veramycin A were accomplished starting from a central building block,which bears the three contiguous stereogenic centers of this polyketide *** approach enables an efficient,selective and flexible access to all possible isomers of the stereotriad for further exploration of this series as a potential anti-diabetic lead structure as exemplified by the synthesis of an NFAT-133 ***,the corresponding biosynthetic gene cluster(BGC)was identified by genome sequencing and gene *** on feeding experiments,a biosynthetic pathway was proposed,which enabled access to new veramycin A analogs by precursor-directed biosynthesis.
