BACKGROUND malignant melanoma is becoming more common among middle-aged individuals all over the *** metastasis can be found in various organs,although metastases to the spleen and stomach are *** we present a rare metastatic multifocal melanoma,clinically and histologically mimicking lymphoma,with metastases of multiple *** SUmmARY A 46-year-old Caucasian male with a history of nodular cutaneous malignant melanoma was presented with nausea,general weakness,shortness of breath,abdominal enlargement,and night *** abdominal ultrasound revealed enlarged liver and spleen with multiple *** tomography demonstrated multiple lesions in the lungs,liver,spleen,subcutaneous tissue,bones and a pathological lymphadenopathy of the *** biopsy and the biopsy from the enlarged lymph node were *** cells showed diffuse or partial positivity for melanocytic markers,such as microphthalmia-associated transcription factor,S100,HmB45 and *** tumor harbored BRAF v600E mutation,demonstrated by immunohistochemical labelling for BRAF v600E and detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction *** combined all the findings,a diagnosis was made of a metastatic multifocal melanoma of the stomach,duodenum,liver,spleen,lungs,lymph nodes and *** patient refused treatment and died a week *** This case report highlights the clinical relevance of rare metastatic multifocal melanoma of multiple organ systems.

Excessive release of neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)is associated with disease severity and contributes to tissue injury,followed by severe organ *** or genetic inhibition of NET release reduces pathology in multiple inflammatory disease models,indicating that NETs are potential therapeutic ***,we demonstrate using a preclinical basket approach that our therapeutic anti-citrullinated protein antibody(tACPA)has broad therapeutic *** with tACPA prevents disease symptoms in various mouse models with plausible NET-mediated pathology,including inflammatory arthritis(IA),pulmonary fibrosis,inflammatory bowel disease and *** show that citrulline residues in the N-termini of histones 2A and 4 are specific targets for therapeutic intervention,whereas antibodies against other N-terminal post-translational histone modifications have no therapeutic *** citrullinated histones are generated during NET release,we investigated the ability of tACPA to inhibit NET *** suppressed NET release from human neutrophils triggered with physiologically relevant human disease-related ***,tACPA diminished NET release and potentially initiated NET uptake by macrophages in vivo,which was associated with reduced tissue damage in the joints of a chronic arthritis mouse model of *** our knowledge,we are the first to describe an antibody with NET-inhibiting properties and thereby propose tACPA as a drug candidate for NET-mediated inflammatory diseases,as it eliminates the noxious triggers that lead to continued inflammation and tissue damage in a multidimensional manner.

Separation of Soybean Oil/n-hexane miscellas Using Polymeric membranes

Separation of refined soybean oil/n-hexane miscellas was studied using different commercial ultra- and nanofiltration membranes, with cut-oil＇s in the range of 1 to 5 kDa and salt rejection higher than 97% （mgSO4）. Commercial soybean oil and n-hexane miscellas with 1：3 and 1：1 mass ratios were permeated in a dead-end module. The effects of the feed pressure （2-25 bar） on oil and n-hexane fluxes and rejection were investigated. Oil rejection ranged from negative values to 30.8%, soybean oil flux from 28.9 to 617.8 g/m2 hl and n-hexane flux from 8.5 to 1,078.5 g m2 hl. membrane fouling was observed at all experimental conditions studied. The membrane separation process has proven to be a promising alternative to solvent recovery in soybean oil extraction.

The imbalance between pathogenic and protective T cell subsets is a cardinal feature of autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis(mS).Emerging evidence indicates that endogenous and dietary-induced changes in fatty acid metabolism have a major impact on both T cell fate and *** date,however,the molecular mechanisms that underlie the impact of fatty acid metabolism on T cell physiology and autoimmunity remain poorly ***,we report that stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1(SCD1),an enzyme essential for the desaturation of fatty acids and highly regulated by dietary factors,acts as an endogenous brake on regulatory T-cell(Treg)differentiation and augments autoimmunity in an animal model of mS in a T cell-dependent *** by RNA sequencing and lipidomics analysis,we found that the absence of Scd1 in T cells promotes the hydrolysis of triglycerides and phosphatidylcholine through adipose triglyceride lipase(ATGL).ATGL-dependent release of docosahexaenoic acid enhanced Treg differentiation by activating the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor *** findings identify fatty acid desaturation by SCD1 as an essential determinant of Treg differentiation and autoimmunity,with potentially broad implications for the development of novel therapeutic strategies and dietary interventions for autoimmune disorders such as mS.

Capillary pumping independent of the liquid surface energy and viscosity

Capillary pumping is an attractive means of liquid actuation because it is a passive mechanism,i.e.,it does not rely on an external energy supply during *** capillary flow rate generally depends on the liquid sample viscosity and surface *** poses a problem for capillary-driven systems that rely on a predictable flow rate and for which the sample viscosity or surface energy are not precisely ***,we introduce the capillary pumping of sample liquids with a flow rate that is constant in time and independent of the sample viscosity and sample surface *** features are enabled by a design in which a well-characterized pump liquid is capillarily imbibed into the downstream section of the pump and thereby pulls the unknown sample liquid into the upstream pump *** downstream pump geometry is designed to exert a Laplace pressure and fluidic resistance that are substantially larger than those exerted by the upstream pump geometry on the sample ***,the influence of the unknown sample liquid on the flow rate is *** experimentally tested pumps of the new design with a variety of sample liquids,including water,different samples of whole blood,different samples of urine,isopropanol,mineral oil,and *** capillary filling speeds of these liquids vary by more than a factor 1000 when imbibed to a standard constant cross-section glass *** our new pump design,20 filling tests involving these liquid samples with vastly different properties resulted in a constant volumetric flow rate in the range of 20.96–24.76μL/*** expect this novel capillary design to have immediate applications in lab-on-a-chip systems and diagnostic devices.

＜正＞In the speech technology research community there is an inereasing trend to use open source solutions. We present a new tool in that spirit. WaveSurfer, which has been developed at the Centre for Speech Technology at KTH. It has been designed for tasks such as viewing, editing, and labeling of audio data. WaveSurfer is built around a small core to which most functionality is added in the form of plug-ins. The tool has been designed to work on most common platforms and with the aims that it should be easy to configure and extend. WaveSurfer is provided as open source, under the GPI. license with the explieit goal that the speech community jointly will improve and expand its scope and capabilities.

Selecting a Strategic Logistics Service Provider for Subsea Engineering Companies on the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme （TEN） Project in Ghana

The research dealt with assessment of logistics service providers＇ capabilities in SECs （supporting subsea engineering companies） on the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme （TEN） project in Ghana. SECs need logistics service providers who offer consolidated services for project optimization and fulfillment of local content requirements of the project. Relevant Staffof7 SECs and 10 logistics service providers in Ghana formed part of the target group. The weighted scoring model was used in selecting a logistics service provider based on certain criteria. The selection criteria included Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental （QHSE） policies [Q], Compliance to regulations （GRA, Work permit, petroleum regulation） [C], Delivery of goods on time and response rate to deliver [D], vessel, Cargo attendance and transportation （sea freight and air freight） [v], and Logistics （Personal logistics and Logistics base facilities） [L]. The study concluded Consolidated Shipping Agency （Conship） was the best Logistics Service Provider to offer the best consolidated services for project optimization under the TEN project.

Pneumonia remains the single leading cause of childhood death *** the commercial availability of multiple pneumococcal conjugate vaccines(PCvs),high dosage cost and supply shortages prevent PCv delivery to much of the developing *** current work presents high-yield pneumococcal conjugates that are immunogenic in animals and suitable for use in human vaccine *** 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine(PCv-13)investigated in this research incorporated serotypes 1,3,4,5,6A,6B,7F,9v,14,18C,19A,19F,and *** polysaccharides(PnPSs)and CRm197 carrier protein were produced and purified in-house,and used to prepare PnPS-CRm conjugates using unique,cyanide-free,in vacuo glycation conjugation *** vitro characterization confirmed the generation of higher molecular weight PnPS-CRm conjugates low in free *** vivo animal studies were performed to compare Pnuvax's PCv-13 to the commercially available PCv-13,Prevnar®13(Pfizer,USA).A boost dose was provided to all groups post-dose 1 at t?14 ***-dose 2 results at t?28 days showed that all 13 serotypes in Pnuvax's PCv-13 were *** serotype IgG GmCs demonstrated that Pnuvax's PCv-13 is immunogenic for all 13 serotypes,with 10 of the 13 serotypes statistically the same or higher than Prevnar®13 post-dose *** a result,the novel polysaccharideprotein conjugates developed in this work are highly promising for use in human PCv *** in vacuo conjugation technique applied in this work could also be readily adapted to develop many other conjugate vaccines.

The idea of using ultrashort X-ray pulses to obtain images of single proteins frozen in time has fascinated and inspired *** was one of the arguments for building X-ray free-electron *** to theory,the extremely intense pulses provide sufficient signal to dispense with using crystals as an amplifier,and the ultrashort pulse duration permits capturing the diffraction data before the sample inevitably *** was first demonstrated on biological samples a decade ago on the giant *** then,a large collaboration has been pushing the limit of the smallest sample that can be *** ability to capture snapshots on the timescale of atomic vibrations,while keeping the sample at room temperature,may allow probing the entire conformational phase space of *** we show the first observation of an X-ray diffraction pattern from a single protein,that of Escherichia coli GroEL which at 14 nm in diameter is the smallest biological sample ever imaged by X-rays,and demonstrate that the concept of diffraction before destruction extends to single *** the pattern,it is possible to determine the approximate orientation of the *** experiment demonstrates the feasibility of ultrafast imaging of single proteins,opening the way to single-molecule time-resolved studies on the femtosecond timescale.

We present a parallel and linear scaling implementation of the calculation of the electrostatic potential arising from an arbitrary charge *** approach is making use of the multi-resolution basis of *** potential is obtained as the direct solution of the Poisson equation in its Green’s function integral *** the multiwavelet basis,the formally non local integral operator decays rapidly to negligible values away from the main diagonal,yielding an effectively banded structure where the bandwidth is only dictated by the requested *** sparse operator structure has been exploited to achieve linear scaling and parallel *** has been achieved both through the shared memory(OpenmP)and the message passing interface(mPI)*** implementation has been tested by computing the electrostatic potential of the electronic density of long-chain alkanes and diamond fragments showing(sub)linear scaling with the system size and efficent parallelization.
