Changes in the Bispectral Index in Response to Loss of Consciousness and No Somatic Movement to Nociceptive Stimuli in Elderly Patients

Background： Bispectral index （BIS） is considered very useful to guide anesthesia care in elderly patients, but its use is controversial for the evaluation of the adequacy of *** study compared the BIS changes in response to loss of consciousness （LOC） and loss of somatic response （LOS） to nociceptive stimuli between elderly and young patients receiving intravenous target-controlled infusion （TCI） of propofol and ***： This study was performed on 52 elderly patients （aged 65-78 years） and 52 young patients （aged 25-58 years）, American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ.Anesthesia was induced with propofol administered by TCI.A standardized noxious electrical stimulus （transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, [TENS]） was applied （50 Hz, 80 mA, 0.25 ms pulses for 4 s） to the ulnar nerve at increasing remifentanil predicted effective-site concentration （Ce） until patients lost somatic response to *** in awake, prestimulus, poststimulus BIS, heart rate, mean arterial pressure, pulse oxygen saturation, predicted plasma concentration, Ce of propofol, and remifentanil at both LOC and LOS clinical points were ***： BISLOC in elderly group was higher than that in young patient group （65.4 ＆#177; 9.7 vs.57.6 ＆#177; 12.3）（t =21.58, P 〈 0.0001） after TCI propofol, and the propofol Ce at LOC was 1.6 ＆#177; 0.3 μg/ml in elderly patients, which was significantly lower than that in young patients （2.3 ＆#177; 0.5 μg/ml）（t =7.474, P 〈 0.0001）.As nociceptive stimulation induced BIS to increase, the mean of BIS maximum values after TENS was significantly higher than that before TENS in both age groups （t =8.902 and t =8.019, P 〈 0.0001）.With increasing Ce of remifentanil until patients lost somatic response to TENS, BISLOS was the same as the BISLOC in elderly patients （65.6 ＆#177; 10.7 vs.65.4 ＆#177; 9.7）, and there were no marked differences between elderly and young patient groups in BISawake, BISLOS, and Ce o

Post-layout simulation driven analog circuit sizing

Post-layout simulation provides accurate guidance for analog circuit design, but post-layout performance is hard to be directly optimized at early design stages. Prior work on analog circuit sizing often utilizes pre-layout simulation results as the optimization objective. In this work, we propose a post-layoutsimulation-driven(post-simulation-driven for short) analog circuit sizing framework that directly optimizes the post-layout simulation performance. The framework integrates automated layout generation into the optimization loop of transistor sizing and leverages a coupled Bayesian optimization algorithm to search for the best post-simulation performance. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework can achieve over 20% better post-layout performance in competitive time than manual design and the method that only considers pre-layout optimization.

The generation of ultrashort high-power light sources in the mid-infrared(mid-IR)to terahertz(THz)range is of interest for applications in a number of fields,from fundamental research to biology and *** conventional laser technology,photon deceleration in plasma wakes provides an alternative approach to the generation of ultrashort mid-IR or THz ***,we present a photon deceleration scheme for the efficient generation of ultrashort mid-IR or THz pulses by using an intense driver laser pulse with a relatively short wavelength and a signal laser pulse with a relatively long *** signal pulse trails the driver pulse with an appropriate time delay such that it sits at the front of the second wake bubble that is driven by the driver *** to its relatively long wavelength,the signal pulse will be subjected to a large gradient of the refractive index in the plasma wake ***,the photon deceleration in the plasma wake becomes faster and more efficient for signal pulses with longer *** greatly enhances the capacity and efficiency of photon deceleration in the generation of ultrashort high-power light sources in the long-wavelength IR and THz spectral ranges.

Co-influence of the start of thermal growing season and precipitation on vegetation spring green-up on the Tibetan Plateau

The climate in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)has undergone significant change in recent decades,mainly in thermal and water conditions,which plays a crucial role in phenological changes in vegetation spring ***,how the start of the thermal growing season(SOS-T)and the start of the rainy season(SORS)as key climatic factors affect vegetation green-up remains *** that these factors characterize thermal and water conditions required for vegetation green-up,this study investigated changes in the SOS-T and SORS from 1961 to 2022,using observation-based datasets with long time *** found that the SOS-T and SORS have advanced across the TP in 1961-2022 and have shown a spatial pattern of advancement in the east and delay in the west in ***,the co-effect of temperature and precipitation change on the start of vegetation growing season(SOS-V)in 2000-2022 was *** across TP,the SOS-V had an early onset of 1.3 d per decade during 2000-2022,corresponding to advanced SOS-T and ***,the SOS-V generally occurred nearly at the same time as the SOS-T in the high-altitude meadow region.A substantial delay in the SOS-V relative to the SOS-T was observed in the desert,shrub,grassland and forest regions and generally kept pace with the ***,for 50%of the vegetated regions on the TP,inter-annual variation in the delay in the SOS-V relative to the SOS-T was dominated by precipitation change,which was profound in warm-climate *** study highlights the co-regulation of precipitation and temperature change in the SOS-V in different vegetation cover regions in the TP,offering a scientific foundation for comprehending the impact of climate change and prospects for vegetation phenology on the TP.

Extraordinary hot extreme in summer 2022 over the Yangtze River basin modulated by the La Nina condition under global warming

A widespread and prolonged hot extreme hit the Yangtze River basin in summer 2022,with 300 sites established new temperature records and nearly 96%stations endured more than 40 hot *** the perspective of the combination effect of the global warming and La Nina condition,potential mechanisms of the hot extreme were *** a record-breaking hot extreme was caused by an extremely strong and westward-shifted western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH).The global warming effect contributed primarily to the abnormal hot days in the Yangtze River basin,coupled with the modulation of the La Nina *** sea surface temperature anomaly pattern under La Nina condition favored more convection activities over the western Pacific,encouraging an enhanced and westward-extended *** addition,an observation-based attribution analysis indicates that anthropogenic warming may increase the probability of such extensively persistent hot extremeby1.8 times.

The dynamic regulation of circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)holds profound significance in various fields,such as highlevel information storage and *** we developed a chiral amphiphilic molecule,CPSB-GLU-PEG350(CGP),composed of aggregation-induced emission(AIE)chromophores(z)-4-(1-cyano-2-phenylvinyl)benzoic acid(CPSB),a chiral linker Glutamic acid and polyethylene glycol(PEG)thermoresponsive *** the self-assembled supramolecular system formed by CGP,we have achieved in-situ temperature-responsive chiral structures,facilitating the thermal control switch of the CPL *** dynamics simulations demonstrate the distinct behaviors of AIE and PEG units during the temperature-variable assembly ***,by co-assembling achiral dye molecules with CGP,we have expanded the color range of the temperature-responsive CPL assembly system in situ and confirmed the occurrence of circularly polarizedF?rster resonance energy transfer(C-FRET)phenomenon in this process,which successfully enriched the strategies for in-situ CPL control in aqueous *** addition,the contactless radiative energy transfer of CPL can also be realized in this system,exhibiting more flexible temperature regulation of the CPL *** study provides a convenient and universal strategy for the construction of dynamically smart chiroptical materials.
