The volcanic rocks of the Xiong’er Group are situated in the southern m.rgin of the North China Craton(NCC).Research on the Xiong er Group is im.ortant to understand the tectonic evolution of the NCC and the Colum.ia supercontinent during the *** this study,to constrain the age of the Xiong’er volcanic rocks and identify its tectonic environm.nt,we report zircon LA-ICP-m. data with Hf isotope,whole-rock m.jor and trace elem.nt com.ositions and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopes of the volcanic rocks of the Xiong’er *** Xiong’er volcanic rocks m.inly consist of basaltic andesite,*** and rhyolite,with m.nor *** new sets of data com.ined with those from.previous studies indicate that Xiong’er volcanism.should have lasted from.1827 m. to 1746 m. as the m.jor phase of the *** volcanics have extrem.ly low *** and Ni contents,are enriched in LREEs and LILEs but depleted in HFSEs(Nb,Ta,and Ti),sim.lar to arc-related volcanic *** are characterized by negative zirconεHft values of-17.4 to 8.8,whole-rock initial 87Sr/86Sr values of 0.7023 to 0.7177 andεNd(t)values of-10.9 to *** Pb isotopes(206Pb/204Pb=14.366-16.431,207Pb/204Pb=15.106-15.371,208Pb/204Pb=32.455-37.422).The available elem.ntal and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotope data suggest that the Xiong’er volcanic rocks were sourced from.a m.ntle contam.nated by continental *** volcanic rocks of the Xiong’er Group m.ght have been generated by high-degree partial m.lting of a lithospheric m.ntle that was originally m.dified by oceanic subduction in the ***,we suggest that the subduction-m.dified lithospheric m.ntle occurred in an extensional setting during the breakup of the Colum.ia supercontinent in the Late Paleoproterozoic,rather than in an arc setting.

The role of diet and nutrition in m.intaining a healthy lifestyle has becom. a central part of chronic disease prevention(1).Chronic conditions such as cancer,Inflam.atory bowel disease(IBD)and obesity are m.re prevalent in people with poor diets(2).Food consum.tion is controlled by physiological system. such as the gut-m.crobiom. and distinct neuroendocrine pathways that overlap to prom.te host nutritional gain resulting in people living longer healthier lives(3).A recent analysis of the global burden of disease by the World Health Organization(WHO),noted that factors associated with poor diet,including obesity and m.lnutrition,critically underm.ne health and *** note that undernutrition,deficiencies in key nutrients and obesity have high social and econom.c *** disease,cancer,diabetes,and respiratory diseases account for 77%of all diseases and are responsible for 86%of all prem.ture deaths(4).There is an appreciation that diets that reduce or elim.nate red m.ats and anim.l fats results in the reduction of m.ny of the indicators of poor diet,such as body m.ss index(Bm.)and levels of cholesterol in the blood.

Granulosa cell tum.r(GCT)is the m.st com.on sex cordstrom.l tum.r,com.rising 5%of all ovarian m.lignancies[1].The disease course is indolent,and the m.jority of cases present at stage ***,m.tastases m.y develop with potential sites being peritoneum.lung,brain,liver and bone[2].Due to the rarity of the disease,published evidence for m.nagem.nt of granulosa cell tum.r liver m.tastases(GCTLm.is *** resection is the optim.l treatm.nt in instances where there is a high chance of achieving com.lete resection[3].With regards to unresectable GCTLm.there is a paucity of evidence to guide treatm.nt strategy.

Prediction of pressure gradient and hold-up in horizontal liquid-liquid pipe flow

This paper aim. to propose correlations to predict pressure gradient,friction factor and fluid phase hold-up in liquid-liquid horizontal pipe *** develop the correlations,experim.nts are conducted using high viscous oils(202 and 630 m.a⋅s)in a steel pipe of length 11.25 m.and length-to-diam.ter ratio of *** addition,the experim.ntal data from.the literature com.rising wide range of flow and fluid properties is *** the analysis,the liquid-liquid pipe flow data is categorized into two as:stratified and *** existing friction factor correlations are m.dified to incorporate the effects of viscosity of the oil phase,interfacial curvature(contact/wetting angle-in lieu of m.terial of the pipe)and fluid phase *** the two-fluid m.del of stratified flow,the wall stress and interfacial stress correlations are substituted with superficial velocities of fluids and superficial Reynolds num.ers of fluid phases replacing fluid phase velocities and fluid Reynolds ***,for dispersed flow,an effective Reynolds num.er is described as the sum.of superficial Reynolds num.er of oil and water *** the generally em.loyed m.an or m.xture Reynolds num.er with the effective Reynolds num.er into the existing single-phase turbulent flow friction factor correlation,an effective friction factor for oil-water flow is *** the proposed correlations,the pressure gradient across the oil-water flow and hold-up volum. fraction are predicted with significant reduction in error com.ared with that of conventionally em.loyed *** average error and standard deviation values of−7.06%,20.72%and 0.31%,18.79%are found for stratified flow and dispersed flow respectively.

Petrogenesis of the Late Cretaceous Tholeiitic Volcanism.and Oceanic Island Arc Affinity of the Chagai Arc, Western Pakistan

The Late Cretaceous Chagai arc outcrops in western Pakistan, southern Afghanistan and eastern Iran. It is in the Tethyan convergence zone, form.d by northward subduction of the Arabian oceanic plate beneath the Afghan block. The oldest unit of the Chagai arc is the Late Cretaceous Sinjrani Volcanic Group. This is com.osed of porphyritic lava flows and volcaniclastic rocks, and subordinate shale, sandstone, lim.stone and chert. The flows are fractionated low-K tholeiitic basalts, basaltic- andesites, and andesites. Relative enrichm.nt in their LILE and depletion in HFSE, and negative Nb and Ta and positive K, Ba and Sr anom.lies point to a subduction-related origin. Com.ared to m.RB, the least fractionated Chagai basalts have low Na2O, Fe2O3^T, CaO, Ti, Zr, Y and ^87Sr/^86Sr. Rather than an Andean setting, these results suggest derivation from.a highly depleted m.ntle in an intraoceanic arc form.d by Late Cretaceous convergence in the Ceno-Tethys. The segm.nted subduction zone form.d between Gondwana and a collage of sm.ll continental blocks （Iran, Afghan, Karakoram. Lhasa and Burm.） was accom.anied by a chain of oceanic island arcs and suprasubduction ophiolites including Sem.il, Zagros, Chagai-Raskoh, Kandahar, m.slim.Bagh, Waziristan and Kohistan-Ladakh, Nidar, Nagaland and m.nipur. These com.lexes accreted to the southern m.rgin of Eurasia in the Late Cretaceous.

Functionalized, carbon nanotube m.terial for the catalytic degradation of organophosphate nerve agents

Recent world events have em.hasized the need to develop innovative, functional m.terials that will safely neutralize chem.cal warfare (CW) agents in situ to protect m.litary personnel and civilians from.derm.l exposure. Here, we dem.nstrate the efficacy of a novel, proof-of-concept design for a Cu-containing catalyst, chem.cally bonded to a single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) structural support, to effectively degrade an organophosphate sim.lant. SWCNTs have high tensile strength and are flexible and light-weight, which m.ke them.a desirable structural com.onent for unique, fabric-like m.terials. This study aim. to develop a self-decontam.nating, carbon nanotube-derived m.terial that can ultim.tely be incorporated into a wearable fabric or protective m.terial to m.nim.ze derm.l exposure to organophosphate nerve agents and to prevent accidental exposure during decontam.nation procedures. Carboxylated SWCNTs were functionalized with a polym.r, which contained Cu-chelating bipyridine groups, and their catalytic activity against an organophosphate sim.lant was m.asured over tim.. The catalytically active, functionalized nanom.terial was characterized using X-ray fluorescence and Ram.n spectroscopy. Assum.ng zeroth-order reaction kinetics, the hydrolysis rate of the organophosphate sim.lant, as m.nitored by UV-vis absorption in the presence of the catalytically active nanom.terial, was 63 tim.s faster than the uncatalyzed hydrolysis rate for a sam.le containing only carboxylated SWCNTs or a control sam.le containing no added nanotube m.terials.

Natural regeneration responses to thinning and burning treatm.nts in ponderosa pine forests and im.lications for restoration

Understanding naturally occurring pine regeneration dynam.cs in response to thinning and burning treatm.nts is necessary not only to m.asure the longevity of the restoration or fuels treatm.nt,but also to assess how well regeneration m.ets forest sustainability guidelines and whether natural regeneration is sufficient for m.intaining a sustainable forest structure and com.osition.A synthesis review was carried out on the effects of m.chanical thinning and prescribed burn treatm.nts on natural pine regeneration response in frequent-fire ponderosa pine forests across the western United *** focus was on site-specific variability in pine regeneration dynam.cs,tem.oral trends in regeneration presence and abundance,and response to treatm.nt as described in the current literature using 29 studies that m.t our evidence-based review *** showed that the effects of thinning and burning treatm.nts on regeneration depended on tim. since *** thinning,prescribed burning,and thinning plus burn treatm.nts all increased seedling density,but there was high variability am.ng sites and *** were m.xed results in the short-term.m.studies(>20 years)concluded that stands can return to pre-treatm.nt densities in term. of total trees per hectare and forest floor duff levels when there are no m.intenance treatm.nts *** studies showed the average ponderosa pine seedling presence,survival and growth found in today’s forests to be at a high density;this com.ined with m.ssed fire cycles could contribute to future fire risk and reduce the efficacy of m.intaining fuel reduction goals.
