Polarization reversal via a transient relaxor state in nonergodic relaxors near freezing temperature

Among the unresolved issues in the study of relaxor ferroelectrics is the role of freezing temperature,across which the dynamics of polarization reversal in relaxor ferroelectrics *** presence of this freezing temperature is best manifested by the appearance of a double polarization hysteresis loop just above the freezing *** that the polarization pinching evolving into a double hysteresis starts well below the freezing temperature,there exists a transient temperature regime between the nonergodic and the ergodic relaxor *** clarify the role of the freezing temperature on the pinching,the polarization reversal near the freezing temperature of relaxor(Pb_(1-x)La_(x))(Zr_(1-y)T_(y))_(1-x/4)O_(3)(PLZT)was monitored using three in situ electric field methods:electrocaloric effect,neutron diffraction,and transmission electron *** demonstrate that the pinching results from a two-step process,1)domain detexturization in the ferroelectric state and 2)miniaturization of *** observation explains the recently reported gap between the depolarization temperature T_(d) and the ferroelectric-torelaxor transition temperature T_(F-R) in lead-free *** further show that T_(d) and T_(F-R),which have long been considered identical in lead-based relaxors,are not the *** current study suggests that the mismatch between T_(d) and TF-R is an inherent feature in both lead-based and lead-free relaxor ferroelectrics.

During the last few years,epidemiological data from many countries suggest that the incidence and prevalence of many cancers of the digestive system are shifting from the older to the younger ages,the so-called“early-onset cancer”.This is particularly evident in colorectal cancer and secondarily in other malignant digestive neoplasms,mainly stomach and in a lesser degree pancreas,and biliary *** should be emphasized that data concerning digestive neoplasms,except for those referring to the colon and stomach,could be characterized as rather *** exact magnitude of the shift in younger ages is expected to become clearer shortly,as long as relevant epidemiological data from many parts of the world would be *** most important question concerns the etiology of this phenomenon,since its magnitude cannot be explained solely by the better diagnostic methodology and the preventive programs applied in many *** existing data support the assumption that a number of environ-mental factors may play a primary role in influencing carcinogenesis,sometimes from *** that have appeared in the last decades related mainly to eating habits,consistency of gut microbiome and an increase of obese people interacting with genetic factors,ultimately favor the process of *** these factors however,are not entirely sufficient to explain the age-related changes in the frequency of digestive *** of the individual effect of each of the already known factors or factors likely to be involved in the etiology of this phenomenon and studies using state-of-the-art technologies to accurately determine the degree of the population exposure to these factors are *** this article,we attempt to describe the epidemiological data supporting the age-shifting of digestive malignancies and their possible ***,we propose some measures regarding the attitude of the scientific community to this alarming phenomenon.

Chronic heart failure(HF)is a clinical syndrome with high morbidity and mor-tality *** rehabilitation(CR)is a medically supervised program designed to maintain or improve cardiovascular health of people living with HF,recommended by both American and european guidelines.A CR program con-sists of a multispecialty group including physicians,nurses,physiotherapists,trainers,nutritionists,and psychologists with the common purpose of improving functional capacity and quality of life of chronic HF *** activity,lifestyle,and psychological support are core components of a successful CR *** has been shown to be beneficial in all ejection fraction categories in HF and most patients,who are stable under medication,are capable of *** individualized exercise prescription should be developed on the basis of a baseline evaluation in all *** main modalities of exercise training are aerobic exercise and muscle strength training of different intensity and *** is important to set the appropriate clinical outcomes from the beginning,in order to assess the effectiveness of a CR *** are still significant limitations that prevent patients from participating in these programs and need to be solved.A significant limitation is the generally low quality of research in CR and the presence of negative trials,such as the rehabilitation after myocardial infarction trial,where comprehensive rehabilitation following myocardial infraction had no important effect on mortality,morbidity,risk factors,or health-related quality of life or *** the present editorial,we present all the updated knowledge and recommendations in CR programs.

The PRISMS-Fatigue open-source framework for simulation-based analysis of microstructural influences on fatigue resistance for polycrystalline metals and alloys is presented *** framework uses the crystal plasticity finite element method as its microstructure analysis tool and provides a highly efficient,scalable,flexible,and easy-to-use ICMe community *** PRISMS-Fatigue framework is linked to different open-source software to instantiate microstructures,compute the material response,and assess fatigue indicator *** performance of PRISMS-Fatigue is benchmarked against a similar framework implemented using *** indicate that the multilevel parallelism scheme of PRISMS-Fatigue is more efficient and scalable than ABAQUS for large-scale fatigue *** performance and flexibility of this framework is demonstrated with various examples that assess the driving force for fatigue crack formation of microstructures with different crystallographic textures,grain morphologies,and grain numbers,and under different multiaxial strain states,strain magnitudes,and boundary conditions.

Antidiabetic activities of ethanolic extract and fraction of Anthocleista djalonensis

Objective:To evaluate the antidiabetic activities of ethanolic root extract/fraction of Anthocleista djalonensis(A. djalonensis) in alloxan-induced diabetic ***: A. djalonensisroot extract/fractions(37-111 mg/kg) were administered to alloxan-induced diabetic rats for 14 days and blood glucose levels(BGLs) of the diabetic rats were monitored at intervals of hours and days throughout the duration of the ***:Treatment of alloxan-induced diabetic rats with the extract/fractions caused a significant(Peduction in fasting BGLs of the diabetic rats both in acute study and prolonged treatment(2 weeks). The activities of the extract and fractions were more than that of the reference drug, glibenclam ***:These results suggest that the root extract/fractions of A. djalonensispossess antidiabetic effect on alloxan-induced diabetic rats and this justifies its use in ethnomedicine and can be exploited in the management of diabetes.

Comparative outcomes of Inferior Vena Cava filters placed at bedside using digital radiography versus conventional fluoroscopy

Purpose:To retrospectively assess the outcomes of Inferior Vena Cava(IVC)filters placed in critically ill patients in the ICU at bedside using digital radiograph(DR)guidance with previous cross-sectional imaging for planning,compared to IVC filters placed by conventional fluoroscopy(CF).Method and materials:The cohort consisted of 129 IVC filter placements;48 placed at bedside and 81 placed conventionally from July 2015 to September *** demographics,indication,radiation exposures,access site,procedural duration,dwell time,and complications were identified by the *** Filter positioning with measurements of tip to renal vein distance and lateral filter tilt were performed when cavograms or post placement CTs were available for *** analysis was performed using Stata IC ***:Technical success of the procedure was 100% in both *** duration was longer at the bedside lasting 14.5+/-10.2 versus 6.7+/-6.0 min(pe bedside DR group had a median radiation exposure of 25 mGy(15-35)and the CF group had mean radiation exposure of 256.94 mGy+/-*** was no significant difference in distance of IVC tip to renal vein(p=0.31),mispositioning(p=0.59),degree of filter tilt(p=0.33),or rate of complications(p=0.65)between the two ***:IVCF placement at the bedside using DR is comparable to CF with no statistical difference in outcomes based on IVCF positioning,degree of lateral tilt or removal *** decreased radiation dose,but with overall increased procedural time.

Photoacoustic detection of circulating melanoma cells in late stage patients

Melanoma is the deadliest skin cancer and is responsible for over 7000 deaths in the US *** spread of cancer,or metastasis,is responsible for these deaths,as secondary tumors interrupt normal organ *** tumor cells,or those cells that spread throughout the body from the primary tumor,are thought to be responsible for *** developed an optical method,photoacoustic flow cytometry,in order to detect and enumerate circulating melanoma cells(CMCs)from blood samples of *** tested the blood of StageⅣmelanoma patients to show the ability of the photoacoustic flow cytometer to detect these rare cells in *** then tested the system on archived blood samples from StageⅢmelanoma patients with known outcomes to determine if detection of CMCs can predict future *** detected between 0 and 66 CMCs in StageⅣ*** the StageⅢstudy,we found that of those samples with CMCs,two remained disease free and five developed *** those without CMCs,six remained disease free and one developed *** believe that photoacoustic detection of CMCs provides valuable information for the prediction of metastasis and we postulate a system for more accurate prognosis.
