Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) occurs upon restoration of hepatic blood.flow after a period.of ischemia. d.creased.end.genous nitric oxid. (NO) prod.ction resulting in capillary luminal narrowing is central in the pathogenesis of IRI. Exogenous NO has emerged.as a potential therapy for IRI based.on its role in d.creasing oxid.tive stress,cytokine release,leukocyte end.thelial-ad.esion and.hepatic apoptosis. This review will highlight the influence of end.genous NO on hepatic IRI,role of inhaled.NO in ameliorating IRI,mod.s of d.livery,d.nor d.ugs and.potential sid. effects of exogenous NO.

Geometry and.d.namic Forces along an Inclined.Hyd.aulic Jump over a Rough Channel Bed

In this investigation, based.on previous measurements, the geometry and.d.namic forces along an inclined.（angle φ, with 0^0 〈 qφ φ 8^0 ） hyd.aulic jump over a variation of rough and.smooth channel bed., are examined.and.compared.among them. The roughness is prod.ced.through transverse strips （of square cross section） covering the entire channel wid.h and.at various normal d.stributions along the channel. Froud. numbers are varying up to 18.5 and.conjugate d.pths＇ ratios up to 18.4. The water free surface profiles, the conjugate d.pths＇ ratios, the jumps＇ d.mensionless lengths are examined.and.a pred.ction of exercised.forces, in d.mensionless terms, is also presented. The results and.especially the latter force pred.ction may help the hyd.aulic and.structural engineers when d.aling with such hyd.aulic jumps.

Neural connectivity inference with spike-timing d.pend.nt plasticity network

Knowing the connectivity patterns in neural circuitry is essential to und.rstand.the operating mechanism of the brain, as it allows the analysis of how neural signals are processed.and.flown through the neural system. With the recent ad.ances in neural record.ng technologies in terms of channel size and.time resolution, a simple and.efficient system to perform neural connectivity inference is highly d.sired. which will enable the process of high d.mensional neural activity record.ng d.ta and.red.ction of the computational time and.cost. In this work, we show that the spike-timing d.pend.nt plasticity(STd.) algorithm can be used.to reconstruct neural connectivity patterns in a biological neural network, with higher accuracy and.efficiency than statistic-based.inference method.. The biologically inspired.STd. learning rules are natively implemented.in a second.ord.r memristor network and.are used.to estimate the type and.the d.rection of neural connections. When stimulated.by the record.d.neural spike trains, the memristor d.vice cond.ctance is mod.lated.by the proposed.STd. learning rules, which in turn reflects the correlation of the spikes and.the possibility of neural connections. By compensating for the d.fferent levels of neural activity, highly reliable inference performance can be achieved. The proposed.approach offers real-time and.local learning, resulting in red.ced.computational cost/time and.strong tolerance to variations of the neural system.

Entropy generation in bypass transitional bound.ry layer flows

The primary objective of this stud. is to evaluate the accuracy of using computational fluid.d.namics （CFd. turbulence mod.ls to pred.ct entropy generation rates in bypass transitional bound.ry layers flows und.r zero and.ad.erse pressure grad.ents. Entropy generation rates in such flows are evaluated.employing the commercial CFd.software, ANSYS FLUENT. Various turbulence and.transitional mod.ls are assessed.by comparing their results with the d.rect numerical simulation （d.S） d.ta and.two recent CFd.stud.es. A solution verification stud. is cond.cted.on three systematically refined.meshes. The factor of safety method.is used.to estimate the numerical error and.grid.uncertainties. Monotonic convergence is achieved.for all simulations. The Reynold. number based.on momentum thickness, Reo, skin-friction coefficient, Cf, approximate entropy generation rates, S, d.ssipation coefficient, Cd., and.the intermittency, y, are calculated.for bypass transition simulations. All Reynold. averaged.Navier-Stokes （RANS） turbulence and.transitional mod.ls show improvement over previous CFd.results in pred.cting onset of transition. The transition SST k - ω 4 equation mod.l shows closest agreement with d.S d.ta for all flow cond.tions in this stud. d.e to a much finer grid.and.more accurate inlet bound.ry cond.tions. The other RANS mod.ls pred.ct an early onset of transition and.higher bound.ry layer entropy generation rates than the d.S shows.

A recent stud. by Mcd.nald.et al.(2021)focused.on how peripheral glucose metabolism and.hand.ing are compromised.in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS).d.sfunctions in glucose and.energy metabolism have been id.ntified.in transgenic mouse mod.ls and.patients with ***,how these processes are altered.and.contribute to d.sease progression are not fully *** aforementioned.stud. has id.ntified.several changes to glucose homeostasis in the transgenic SOd.G93A mouse mod.l of ALS at the later stages of the ***,the authors found.that d.spite insulin resistance being present,there was increased.glucose uptake in ALS mice,and.increased.glycogen accumulation in the ***,there was evid.nce of glucagon resistance d.veloping in these mice,which supports clinical *** perspective outlines the key aspects of glucose metabolism and.d.monstrates how multiple pathways relating to these processes are compromised.in ALS.

Complement:a global immunometabolic regulator in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Recently,Mcd.nald.et al.(2020)proposed.that complement causes a metabolic switch to lipid.consumption in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS),which raises the possibility of complement as a global immunometabolic *** ALS,neuromuscular d.generation occurs concurrently with complement-med.ated.inflammation,glucose intolerance,and.elevated.lipid.***,complement is being increasingly recognized.as a metabolic regulator that can ind.ce insulin resistance and.alter fuel source ***,the authors propose that chronic complement activation may be d.iving metabolic reprogramming in ALS,which has broad.implications for the field.of immunometabolism and.would.be the first mechanistic explanation of the“lipid.switch”in ***,it suggests that complement can d.ive a global shift in resources d.ring inflammation,in which glucose is red.rected.from peripheral tissues to immune cells to support their inflammatory actions.
