Geothermal energy has been used for electric pow.r production,starting experimentally in Italy in 1904,and w.th the first commercial plant in 1913 at *** follow.d w.th plants in Mexico, New.Zealand,and at The Geysers in the United *** present,there are about 8932 Mw. installed in 24 countries,producing about 56951 Gw.h/*** heat utilization has a much longer history,w.th early uses of hot springs at least 10000 years *** documentation of direct-use has not been consistent,and often left out key *** first reliable report on this use appeared in the ***,there are reported uses in at least 72 countries,w.th an estimated installed capacity of about 28268 Mw.t and an annual produc- tion of 75943 Gw.*** energy grow.h over the past five years has been 2.9 % for electricity production and 7.5 % for direct-use,compounded *** low.grow.h rate for electric pow.r generation is in part due to the low.price for natural gas,the main competitor,and the high initial investment *** energy savings a- mounts to an equivalent 40 million tones of fuel oil,37 million tones of carbon,and 113 million tons of CO an- nually.

A histological ground-section from a duck-billed dinosaur nestling(Hypacrosaurus stebingeri) revealed microstructures morphologically consistent w.th nuclei and chromosomes in cells w.thin calcified *** hypothesized that this exceptional cellular preservation extended to the molecular level and had molecular features in common w.th extant avian cartilage. Histochemical and immunological evidence supports in situ preservation of extracellular matrix components found in extant cartilage, including glycosaminoglycans and collagen type II. Furthermore, isolated Hypacrosaurus chondrocytes react positively w.th tw. DNA intercalating stains. Specific DNA staining is only observed inside the isolated cells, suggesting endogenous nuclear material survived fossilization. Our data support the hypothesis that calcified cartilage is preserved at the molecular level in this Mesozoic material, and suggest that remnants of once-living chondrocytes, including their DNA, may preserve for millions of years.

The Greenland ice core from NorthGRIP （NGRIP） contains a proxy climate record across the Pleistocene-Holocene boundary of unprecedented clarity and resolution. Analysis of an array of physical and chemical parameters w.thin the ice enables the base of the Holocene, as reflected in the first signs of climatic w.rming at the end of the Younger Dryas/Greenland Stadial 1 cold phase, to be located w.th a high degree of precision.

Rapid technical advances in the field of computeropened new.avenues in animal behavior *** （CA） and virtual reality （VR） haveAnimated stimuli are pow.rful tools as theyoffer standardization, repeatability, and complete control over the stimulus presented, thereby＂reducing＂ and ＂replacing＂ the animals used, and ＂refining＂ the experimental design in line w.ththe 3Rs. How.ver, appropriate use of these technologies raises conceptual and technical *** this review. w. offer guidelines for common technical and conceptual considerations related tothe use of animated stimuli in animal behavior research. Follow.ng the steps required to create ananimated stimulus, w. discuss （I） the creation, （11） the presentation, and （111） the validation of CAsand VRs. Although our review.is geared tow.rd computer-graphically designed stimuli, consider-ations on presentation and validation also apply to video playbacks. CA and VR allow.both new.be-havioral questions to be addressed and existing questions to be addressed in new.w.ys, thus w.expect a rich future for these methods in both ultimate and proximate studies of animal behavior.

本文提出Boss制片厂Richad Ed-lund向电影/电视工业技术基金会建议的关于开发Cosharp印片机的设计进展报告。Cosharp是该产品“连续式光学隙缝高速变形缩小印片机”的英文名称字首缩略词。通常认为,65mm原始摄影影像的分辨率大约是35mm原始摄影影象的三倍。然而,从实际考虑,则需要缩小成35mm拷贝,以便后期制作。这一工序的成本颇高,但拷贝的最终质量和制作花费的时间却有利于此工艺。Cosharp印片机在技术和经济方面为此类问题提供了解决方案。
